Maybe the paint defects are not so much to do with poor paint to begin with but how it's been looked after? Also I can't imagine the whole shipping it here would do it much good.

Pic of same car from another post:

Nice Job Mario.

If your used to high end cars, all i can say is welcome to the world of Nissan paint.

Renowned for being so soft that slightly heavy breathing in a clock wise direction will cause it swirl.

I have a black 2004 V35 and spent about 2 days in my garage trying to get them all out.

How did you go ? Did you manage to get the paint defects out ?

That's what i said to a customer this paint is so delicate that you can't breath of the dam thing that it scratches :(

Immagine trying to machine polishing it and then trying to remove the polishing compound , the bloody thing marrs the paint :D

Thanks again

Regards Mario

ive seen the car in the flesh! (window shopping) you guys did a very nice job...... maybe a test drive?
You wish :laughing-smiley-014:

Thanks , the job wasn't easy but the results are stunning once i finished it and of course it won't be long before it gets scratched again ;):D:):(

Hello Guy's ,

I am fairly new to this forum ! :) My name is Mario and i am from Melbourne , here are shots of work that i did on this brand new GTR-35, as you have gathered by now i detail top end cars for a living :D

Brand New Nissan GTR 35 with paint defects over two and a half days !

One of my regular clients who imports Japanese cars has also imported a Brand new Nissan GTR 35 in Jet Black !

This is 0ne of the many GTR 35 in Australia! Nissan Australia will start importing them next year so my client decided to have it here sooner !

So far it's really stirred things up people stoping by the showroom to take a look at it there are twenty two clients on my clients list who are interested in the car and one in particular wanted to put a $ 40.000 deposit to secure it !

Most of these guys own Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati etc.....

but would like to have another super car like the GTR 35

Anyway on with the paint correction ! This paint reminds me of the very soft paint that Porsche used to have ! When i first inspected the paint i thought this can't be a new car the state of the paint was appalling ! ;)

I decided to give the Flex XC 3401 VRG a run , initially i wanted to use my rotary but then i decided to use the flex instead !

Most of the car was corrected with the Lake Country Orange CCS Pads 6.5"

and LC White CCS 6.5" pads, i decided to try PO 106 FF since my client told me that i will be back to repolish the whole car again in three months time that's why i didn't want to remove to much clear !

And since this car will be used for road tests you can imagine how it will look in three months time ! I briefly Shaw this car take off it was brutal !

Forget about the other It's this one in definitely in the super car league !

Edmonds in the States went to Japan to test it's full potential 3.3 seconds in launch mode and 475 NM of torque they say it's the quickest production car that has come out of the Nissan Stable !

Quicker than a Dodge Viper, quicker than a Porsche Turbo, and also quicker than a Corvette C6. Pity i couldn't go for a spin ! :(

Didn't you get the memo. Nissan ship GT-R's with these paint "features" built in. They are not defects at all! ;)

Nice work!

:( Nissan has always had very soft paint and this GTR-35 is no exception :D

Regards Mario :)

Doc thats exactly what my paint has even including the spider webs, lol. Car looks great - and black is always a good indicator of paint condition. They say its the hardest to look after but it also shows off paint quality the best so its game on in that aspect...

Are those spots from acid rain...??? Is that was causes those marks?

I thought i could get it all out by hard hand polishing it but obviously not...

Machine polishing...okay cool, i can arrange that.

Anything else you can prescribe? I care about the car so i want it looking its best.

What is "paint correction" exactly and how good do you think Meguiars are?

LOl, looks like SAU has its own in house paint Doc now...

Adam, pity you are in Japan i would have sorted this problem no worries ! :D

Mate i wouldnt have worried you with a lowly Subaru!

Ill come see you when the Ferrari is a week old.

Thanks for the replies though, very useful.

So, whats the verdict on meguiars? Also, any tips you can pass on about paint care?

How does Nissan paint stack up against Subaru paint?

Adam,

Meguiar's are good products but they are not the best ! :)

For your fastidious car nut i would recommend , Pinnacle , Wolgang, Swissvax ( Very Expensive !) but Excellent ! Instead of me boring you how good they are i will give you this link so you can find out eveything about car care ! This is an excellent site http://autogeek.net/index.html

Hope this helps

Regards Mario ;)

    • The car/ECU will have all the sensor that it needs and expect to have. I think i do not have to explain to you how the Link is way better specialy if you have swapped engine   I just do not want to deal with any "problems" cuz i have only Nistune which i learned is not that great and in my case cant even deal with that speed problem (Link can) And of course it will be way more easier to tune and diagnose and safe. And for the ECU/speed problem...i dont know.
    • Per Mark Roberts of Sonictune: Mark Robert Author At this time, no. No ETA either 2016-17 models. You will be able to purchase and install a 2018.5+ TCU though   TCU purchasing and pricing info! As we near the release of TCU tuning, I am going to answer some questions I get asked often.   What do I need for TCU tuning? At this time, you will need a 2018.5+ TCU to be able to tune. If you have a 2016-to early 2018, you will need to replace your TCU with the newer version. One good way to know if your TCU is good is if you have auto upshift in manual mode in 1st gear around 6500 rpms. If your manual 1st gear goes to 7k rpm and will hit the rev limiter unless you shift, you have the older TCU.   Why do I need to buy another ecu license/phone flash if I already have it on my ECU tune? The TCU is its own computer module. It is completely separate from the ECU. Because of this, you will be required to purchase a TCU license and, if your tuner has it, the phone flash license required to tune it via phone/bluetooth.   Do I need TCU tuning? TCU tuning is NOT required. However, the faster your setup, the more it will assist in track and dragy time consistency.   If I’m ECU tuned by (tuner A) can I get my TCU tuned by (Tuner ? Yes, since it’s a different module and a completely separate flash, you can have two different tuners. However, it is highly recommend that you have both tuned by the same tuner. For me, my TCU tuning will directly complement my ECU tuning style and features and running my ECU and another TCU or vice versa MIGHT cause some issues. At this time and for the foreseeable future, I will only be tuning my current ECU tuned customers TCUs.     I have a SYVECS AWD controller. Do I still need it? Yes! The AWD controllers main job is to control your AWD system. However, with TCU tuning, you will no longer need the auto-shift function as that will be done through the TCU. The AWD controller will still be very beneficial for racers looking to maximize traction on the launch.     Shift schedule changes: holding gears longer at lower pedal input as well as max shift rpm changes. Please note, the new ECU race rom coming out will address 90% of the shitty drivability issues these cars have through custom maps from myself and Racebox—as well as others I am sure.   Increase shift speeds: as seen in the videos I’ve been posting, the TCU shifts much faster once tuned.   Increased shift pressures: as also seen in the videos, much firmer full throttle shifts.

    • The fancy pants red shock tower brace is finally incoming from MX5 Mania, getting it shipped from 'Merica has been a long and problematic process, and GWR, the 'Merican supplier will not ship directly to consumers outside of the US, Mania basically had to order a heap of them, the colour choice was silver, or red, and we all know anything red adds 5 killerwasps of dynotorques..... Whilst it does fit over a 2.5, and I've seen a few photos and videos of it being installed and fitting, google also says it might get real close to the FAB9 intake front runner, people in the US says it does fit with the FAB9 intake, except for one person who said it slightly touched.......so there is that.....LOL..... As it seems that I am the first in AU to have this combination of parts there's no local knowledge about fitment, so I'm just a willing guinea pig in this endeavour, I'll cross my fingers and toes and hope for the best In other news, I ordered stuff from China  on the same day I ordered the 23° silicone bend from Victoria, the stuff from China arrived a day ago, the 23° silicone bend is still travelling around Australia thanks to Australia Post, and "may" be here next week
    • Very good news...I contacted Racebox about it last night. My car is a 2016 so remains to be seen if it is compatible, requires a TCU swap, or is impossible.
