Picture Victoria - Images Of Eastern And Monash Construction

Recommended Posts

All this Eastlink talk got me thinking the other night. I was looking for some old pics of the Eastern Freeway construction and dates as the Mrs. and I were talking about it's construction the other night when we were driving in from Eastlink. I had no idea when it was built or when the Monash was built for that matter. Anyhow I'm a bit of a sucker for old pics etc and found a cool site some of you might like to look at, it's got a search function and there is all kinds of cool stuff in there! You can pretty much see Melbourne being built!

Link is - Picture Victoria

The construction of the Morshead Overpass over Punt Road. The view from above looks along the Yarra with Hoddle Bridge in the foreground, past the MCG, with the city in the background.

The photograph shows the construction of the Morshead Overpass which goes over Punt Rd. The picture was taken from ground level looking west from north side of the Yarra near Punt Rd, with the contractor's sheds visible to the right.

Awesome find! :P

I used to spend a lot of time on sites like 28dayslater.co.uk which were slightly different in that most were adandoned but were sites from yesteryear. I knew quite a few of my local ones. Has some cool things like hidden tunnels, secret London underground stations from the war etc. Can spend hours on there but is more of an urban exploration site.

    • Ha ha ha, that's fair mate! We have the crackhead dogs now. Mainly because the missus wants the crazy dogs while she still has the energy and capacity to be able to keep up with them! Ha ha our current two are both Working GSD, there brothers and sisters (from the same litters) are in Police, Corrective Services, and I believe one did end up in defence force too. They're wild and fun, yet right now, both curled up asleep on the lounge room floor while we watch some TV. Mal is very likely the next dog (unless I get my couch potato guardian dog 😛 )   What are your Kitties names? Are you planning some house work, like those high kitty shelves, built in scratching post, and some cat passages from one room to another room?
    • Maine Coone, did look at but to big and fluffy As for performance dogs, we had Mals at work, performance dogs are fun to watch, but, way to much work for this old rooster
    • Yep, it was only an option on the Q50 Hybrid.  Same in Japan as far as I know. And doesn't use a centre diff like the Suby's do, so not the same as the WRX.  But it also isn't a reactive AWD like other Nissan AWD vehicles are, eg. Murano/Xtrail/etc.
    • You should have got a Maine Coone then. Only thing is they're big. But so cool, and just like a dog. Or, just get yourself a high performance dog. That'll teach you for wanting Parkour indoors 😛
    • Are you thinking of Bens R32? I don't remember if his went through the bonnet itself, but it went through the chassis rail. Brad (RISKIN) bought it, and turned it into a track car. It's funny how anti people are of Jim Berry now. I remember when I pulled mine out (during an engine change) and inspected it and found it cracking badly. At that point in time so many people were even on SAU, were so pro Jim Berry, and that was after Bens GTR exploded his quite publically.
