Warnings are a permanent level. Moderators use them to monitor your previous behaviour.
Ive copped 2 warnings for exactly that...but the person/workshop in question is still throwing mud at me and our business...go figure?

I never thought an enthusiast forum would be subject to so much hypocrisy. I really enjoy this forum for its freedom in information and advise it offers.

Also its a great platform for people with a common passion for skylines too come together.

I understand that a forum like this has costs and so forth to keep it up and running but when a workshop does wrong by the members that subscribe to that same forum and then are told to keep their mouth shut or their posts are completely edited to make out they are the ones in wrong, I believe thats fundamentally against the very nature of the forum in the first place.

Its not freedom of speech... its against the core objective of having a forum in the first place.

just wondering, what are the reasons that warnings are issued? is just things like bad language, or is there anything else?

Pretty simple, failing to follow the forums rules.

We run a fairly relaxed ship here on SAU, so be respectful to other members and observe the rules and you won't have any problems. If you do slip up and cop a warning, be a man and take it on the chin, because thats all it is, a warning :P

Paul, if the person in question 'throws mud at you' on the forum, report it to moderators, and they will be pulled up for it just like any other member.

If I stand corrected I will be the first ( as should anyone ) to take responsibility for my actions. But if its clear cut someones in the wrong and the only reason to cop warning is becuase you spoke the truth, I think that treatment has got nothing to do with being a man at all...

Infact I think its a cowardly act, and along the lines of someone having a " God Complex ".

Taking it out on those with Machiavellian approach is representative of those with a poor character.

Your missing the point, mate.

The rules regarding the posting of defamitory and potentially slanderous comments against businesses, are very very clear, and have been around for a long long time. By using this forum you agree to abide by the rules that Prank, as the forum owner, has set out. They are the rules, end of story. While in theory yes we should all be able to post 'truthful' comments, the fact is this is the internet, and nobody really has any way of knowing just how truthful, or otherwise, a comment may be. Sadly there is almost always more to the story when something is posted, and the real facts have a habit of being exaggerated or embellished.

At the end of the day, Prank is liable for any comment resulting in legal threats/action against SAU, and as such the above rule is in place to protect both Prank, and the forum as a whole.

If you choose to ignore the rules, and you are issued with a warning, there is only one person to blame, and its yourself.

What legal costs?

You could only be sued for deformation..... if the person who denies the accusations can prove its untrue which the onus is on them to do so.....

Dan should be pretty familiar with the Oscar wilde case I'm sure.

erm what?

You still have to get representation to fight it. Regardless of who is right/wrong and so on.

Time is money, and time is something not everyone has to thrown around.

If you dont like the rules, then dont use the board. Pretty simple.

Its pretty easy going here compared to a lot of other places, we dont ask much, just that which we do ask... we need it followed

I know its pretty simple, I do follow the rules but I also have an opinion. I also understand simple concepts of life which include time.

I never said or implied I don't like the rules mate.... I have simply stated It shit forum members can't speak the truth when stating the truth will save others from make the same mistake. I don't think you get the point from that side of the fence and its getting boring trying make the point especially when its redundant from from the start. I get the fact that on a forum its hard to determine the chaff from the wheat.

Anyways...... I have said what I have wanted too, without amazingly enough anything being edited...

If you feel the need to spread your word, about your previous experiences with a business, then use the private message feature.

That way it is between you and the user. Not for public viewing.

It is as simple as that :P

You could only be sued for deformation.....

ps wtf is deformation?

SAU is Chernobyl now? :)

Why would it be edited?

This isnt NS.com or otherwise, your free to speak your mind within the guidelines.

I know what your saying, but keeping the forum working, here and alive is the main aim :P

Well besides the spelling error I would have thought the reference to case law would have given you a hint, given your back ground. But I expect you to come back gripping onto a spelling mistake as poor excuse for a rebuttle.

You are an deff ASSet dan.

lol the rebuttle was already written before the little joke

I was hoping you'd see the humour in it. for shame! :P

nevermind.

So was there anything else mate?

I was actually enjoying somebody getting worked up about something on here, like giving a shit about the way things are done, but this last line of yours just makes me shake my head... If there is an account of a serious post that has been edited (besides rule breaking posts like chatting in fs, posting porn, etc) let me know because that goes against everything we want in these forums.

Freedom of speech is my number 1 priority in almost everything I do. I, believe it or not, am a hippy at heart, member of Greenpeace, Sea Shepherd, Free Tibet, Amnesty and a lot of others. I am all for freedom of speech, dont for one second misinterperet that by having rules that protect me and my family from legal action are there for any other reason.

I am fairly sure that I am safe from legal action from businesses (step mother is a solicitor, dad is a barister, uncle is a solicitor, sister is a barister + shit loads of legal-minded family friends) but when it comes down to it, the internet and its legal grounds are still new and there are laws being changed every day to deal with them. Until I am absolutely positive about where I stand, the rules stay in place, because as much as I love you guys, I wont pick you when it comes to the crunch.

Its crazy to think that we (I say we because although I am ultimately responsible, this forum belongs to everbody) cant say whats on our minds, but unfortunately (and at least for now), thats the way it has to be.

I was just a bit put off when a certain 'mod' on here was very hasty to pull me into line after i got sick and tired of being prodded by a certain workshop owner with a little help from the mod as well. I give a detailed description of how this character has treated myself and others through our unfortunate dealings with him, and im warned...ok fair enough...i crossed the line as far as the forum rules go...ok...but this character continues to badger me and CLEARLY makes unsubstanciated and false allegations about my business and workmanship and continues to do so. Even after i twice make an effort to apoligise and move on. There seems to be the favorites on here....bit of a double standard really....just be consistent guys.

We cannot play favourites over anyone. Everyone gets the hefty warn level increase.

May I ask if you used the report post button for the offending posters comments?

In all seriousness, if somebody makes a complaint about a moderator or admin, it should be treated the same way as anything else. I personally have removed mods because of certain actions. There is absolutely no favoritism from myself and shouldn't be from anyone else. If you are getting hammered by somebody, let me (or any of the admins) know because I can promise you it will be treated fairly.

If thats the way it works I have the utmost respect for the forum and will support it anyway I can ( fiscally or with time )

I seriously think " some mods " deff go on an ego trip with their power and abuse their position.

Cool, then we need those mods to be reported so they can be pulled aside. I dont want anybody thinking that because they're a mod they'll be treated differently.

    • Well, after the full circus this week (new gearbag, 14 psi actuator on, injectors and AFM upgraded, and.....turbo repair) the diagnosis on the wastegate is in. It was broken. It was broken in a really strange way. The weld that holds the lever arm onto the wastegate flapper shaft broke. Broke completely, but broke in such a way that it could go back together in the "correct" position, or it could rearrange itself somewhere else along the fracture plane and sit with the flapper not parallel to the lever. So, who knows how and when exactly what happened? No-one will ever know. Was it broken like this the first time it spat the circlip and wedged itself deep into the dump? Or was it only broken when I tried to pry it back into place? (I didn't try that hard, but who knows?). Or did it break first? Or did it break between the first and second event of wierdness? Meh. It doesn't matter now. It is welded back together. And it is now held closed by a 14 psi actuator, so...the car has been tuned with the supporting mods (and the order of operations there is that the supporting mods and dyno needed to be able to be done first before adding boost, because it was pinging on <<14 psi with the new turbo with only a 6 psi actuator). And then tuned up a bit, and with the boost controller turned off throughout that process. So it was only running WG pressure and so only hit about 15-16 psi. The turbo is still ever so slightly lazier than might be preferred - like it is still a bit on the big side for the engine. I haven't tested it on the road properly in any way - just driven it around in traffic for a half hour or so. But it is like chalk and cheese compared to what it was. Between dyno numbers and driving feedback: It makes 100 kW at 3k rpm, which is OK, could be better. That's stock 2JZ territory, or RB20 with G series 550. It actually starts building boost from 2k, which is certainly better than it did recently (with all the WG flapper bullshit). Although it's hard to remember what it was like prior to all that - it certainly seems much, much better. And that makes sense, given the WG was probably starting to blow open at anything above about 3 psi anyway (with the 6 psi actuator). It doesn't really get to "full boost" (say 16 psi) until >>4k rpm. I am hopeful that this is a feature of the lack of boost controller keeping boost pressure off the actuator, because it was turned off for the dyno and off for the drives afterward. There's more to be found here, I'm sure. It made 230 rwkW at not a lot more than 6k and held it to over 7k, so there seems to be plenty of potential to get it up to 250-260rwkW with 18 psi or so, which would be a decent effort, considering the stock sized turbo inlet pipework and AFM, and the return flow cooler. According to Tao, those things should definitely put a bit of a limit on it by that sort of number. I must stress that I have not opened the throttle 100% on the road yet - well, at least not 100% and allowed it to wind all the way up. It'll have to wait until some reasonable opportunity. I'm quite looking forward to that - it feels massively better than it has in a loooong time. It's back to its old self, plus about 20% extra powers over the best it ever did before. I'm going to get the boost controller set up to maximise spool and settle at no more than ~17 psi (for now) and then go back on the dyno to see what we can squeeze out of it. There is other interesting news too. I put together a replacement tube to fit the R35 AFM in the stock location. This is the first time the tuner has worked with one, because anyone else he has tuned for has gone from Z32 territory to aftermarket ECU. No-one has ever wanted to stay Nistuned and do what I've done. Anyway, his feedback is that the R35 AFM is super super super responsive. Tiny little changes in throttle position or load turn up immediately as a cell change on the maps. Way, way more responsive than any of the old skool AFMs. Makes it quite diffifult to tune as you have to stay right on top of that so you don't wander off the cell you wanted to tune. But it certainly seems to help with real world throttle response. That's hard to separate from all the other things that changed, but the "pedal feel" is certainly crisp.
    • I'm a bit confused by this post, so I'll address the bit I understand lol.  Use an air compressor and blow away the guide coat sanding residue. All the better if you have a moisture trap for your compressor. You'd want to do this a few times as you sand the area, you wouldn't for example sand the entire area till you think its perfect and then 'confirm' that is it by blowing away the guide coat residue.  Sand the area, blow away the guide coat residue, inspect the panel, back to sanding... rinse and repeat.
    • The detail level is about right for the money they charge for the full kit... AU$21.00 each issue, 110 issues for a total of $2,300 (I mentioned $2.2K in the first post when the exchange rate was better). $20/week is doable... 😐
