How To Install Rb26 Plenum (Intake manifold) on an Rb25det

*work in progress*

What is needed:

-Complete Rb26 Intake Manifold (inc fuel-rail, injectors)

-Blitz Adopter Kit or similar

-Intake-side i/c piping

-various hoses (fuel lines, heater hoses, coolent lines)*

-Rb25 and Rb26 Intake manifold gaskets

first set is to completely remove the rb25 intake plenum, i found to make the job easier it was best to remove the throttle body.

now this is what it should look like once you remove the stock plenum

p7130246cf6.jpg

next was a trail fit the 1st adopter plate

p7130249pg8.jpg

next you need to remove the 2 studs; one is far right the other on the far left (i removed them by using a vice-grip)

p7130251mo9.jpg

p7130250rw1.jpg

the stud removed

p7130252bp4.jpg

the next step is IMPORTANT, because the GTR doesn't have the VCT, the VCT solenoidal hits on the 26 plenum

p7130257rq7.jpg

to solve this problem, the water hose section on the rb26 plenum must be chop off and replaced with the 25 water hose section

*Im still waiting for this to be done and will update once i get the plenum back*

Also keen for the updates but I was also wondering who shanef is and how do I contact him?

Does anyone kno why there is two seperate plates? I would hav thought one plate with one set of holes to go into the 25 head and one set for the 26 intake would have been enough??

so which route is cheaper this way cuz I can buy a GTR plenum for like 50.00 bucks or I can buy the greddy kit 800 bucks comes with everything

If you can get one for 50 bucks with the ITB's I will give you $100 and you just made yourself an easy $50 :D

Try this website I go here lots to look for parts. If I cant find it here then it means I have to go to the junkyard. http://www.slidewizeimports.com/

buy a greedy kit;

The gtr plenum isn't as cheap as it might seem

you have

Gtr plenum

Gtr fuel rail + gtr injectors + gtr injector plugs + gtr resistance pack

New Intercooler Piping

Adopter kit

GTR throttle cable or make a bracket to mount the gts-t throttle cable on the gtr plenum

GTR plenum gaskets

If you are lucky to find a blitz adopter kit it makes it alittle easier but it is no way a straight forward job, im taking the new out as its going to make it about 10x easier to get the job done.

Also even with the blitz adopter kit you still need to do some welding

(cut and remove the water outlet on the 25 plenum and cut the 26 water outlet off and weld on the 25 outlet)

as above and where can you buy the adapter kits?

i was lucky to find a brand new blitz kit from japan but blitz stop making them in 2005 i think and they are extremely rare to come by.

the difference between the blitz kit and the other ones is the blitz one comes with more than just the adopter plate it comes with adopter for the TPS and ACC value

Also updates have been lacking because i lost interest lol, but i have made the choice to take it to a friends workshop so that i can have the engine remove as it will speed up the job and make it 100% easier.

Hopefully i should have some updates next week

cool cool - theres a blitz kit on ebay right now lol

lol just check it out, i don't know how the person pay $1400 for it. as they were 80,000yen brand new and around the same price alittle less (60,000yen - 80,000yen second hand).

If you add up the cost it works out alot cheaper to do the greddy plenum.

$800 for adopter kit

$300-$600 for complete gtr plenum inc fuel rail

$500-$800 for gtr injectors (basing on 600cc size)

gaskets kit $200

Gtr injector plugs $25

Gtr resistor pack $150

Gtr throttle cable ???

Welding $150

Fitting ???

you must have an aftermarket ecu and then of course the cost of retuning

But by your analogy the greddy kit isnt cheap either,

$1100 for the plenum(they have probably gone up with the dollar)

$200 Q45 throttle body

$100 Gaskets

$??? S13 throttle cable

$800 Upgrade injectors

$??? Fitting

$??? Intercooler piping

ECU and tuning still apply. Althoug you could run either setup on a remapped ecu

seems like this guy didnt pay much http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/to...um-t181826.html but this looks like a pain and something expensive for which i dont need now.I will probably finish up basic bolt ons like a high flow cat and dump pipe and headers. If I stil have a skyline lol currently looking at a S15 or a toyota Chaser tour v I might do the swap.AND MY WEBSITE DIEDDDDD READ THERE COMMENT TEARSSSSSS but I can still look on yahoo auctions but its more of a pain to find what I want lol.http://www.slidewizeimports.com/ closing down because of the economy

china spec greddy plenum $200-$300

adopter to use stock throttle body $50

use old gaskets

use stock cable

use same injectors

trust me it will work out alot cheaper.

(i was quote over $2000 to install the gtr plenum lol)

    • Yeah, it's getting like that, my daughter is coming over on Thursday to help me remove the bonnet so I can install the Carbuilders underbonnet stuff,  I might get her to give me a hand and remove the hardtop, maybe, because on really hot days the detachable hardtop helps the aircon keep the interior cool, the heat just punches straight through to rag top I also don't have enough hair for the "wind in the hair" experience, so there is that....LOL
    • Could be falling edge/rising edge is set wrong. Are you getting sync errors?
    • On BMWs what I do because I'm more confident that I can't instantly crush the pinch welds and do thousands of USD in chassis damage is use a set of rubber jacking pads designed to protect the chassis/plastic adapter and raise a corner of the car, place the aforementioned 2x12 inch wooden planks under a tire, drop the car, then this normally gives me enough clearance to get to the front central jack point. If you don't need it to be a ramp it only needs to be 1-1.5 feet long. On my R33 I do not trust the pinch welds to tolerate any of this so I drive up on the ramps. Before then when I had to get a new floor jack that no longer cleared the front lip I removed it to get enough clearance to put the jack under it. Once you're on the ramps once you simply never let the car down to the ground. It lives on the ramps or on jack stands.
    • Nah. You need 2x taps for anything that you cannot pass the tap all the way through. And even then, there's a point in response to the above which I will come back to. The 2x taps are 1x tapered for starting, and 1x plug tap for working to the bottom of blind holes. That block's port is effectively a blind hole from the perspective of the tap. The tapered tap/tapered thread response. You don't ever leave a female hole tapered. They are supposed to be parallel, hence the wide section of a tapered tap being parallel, the existince of plug taps, etc. The male is tapered so that it will eventually get too fat for the female thread, and yes, there is some risk if the tapped length of the female hole doesn't offer enough threads, that it will not lock up very nicely. But you can always buzz off the extra length on the male thread, and the tape is very good at adding bulk to the joint.
    • Nice....looking forward to that update
