i know everyone is getting exited about the possibility of the 89 gtr

rant on

i look at the auctions pretty much every day and in the last 3 months the average price of a 89 r32 gtr has jumped, and im not talking a little amount

5 months ago they were selling from 300-500k and that is for a decent one, now 5 months later and the real crap one r selling for 800+k.

does everyone thing they r worth the money, is eveyone going to be importing the bastards..

i think im just disapointed cause i could have bought one 5 months ago when i bought the 31 but becasue i had a 32 already i passed it up

Thought you had a GTR and sold it ??

Anyway , I would be very wary of any GTR that has around done around 100K and has been boosted.

Have owned 6 or so of em and all that have done that sort of Km have been breathing heavily/burning oil.

This means add a minimum of $6K to the landed price for those who have no access to mates with w/shops.

You will be pushed to find any 89 that has done less than that in the price range you are talking.

If it has done GENUINE low kms then the Japs will pay 1.5mil upwards for it.

Cheers

$16k just isn't possible.. if you take into account a little thing called stamp duty, and adding on set of new tyres, rego and things.. That assumes no problems either - don't forget that first service could cost you a few $100 as well. Most are looking at least $20k on road. Anybody who is believing "oh that is what that the email says" is kidding themselves.

p.s. Why would i be scared of "gum" pointed at me though? :P as in "Stand back I've got gum!!"

16K was acheivable a little while ago

500,000yen at current exchange rate is $6578 ( based on 76yen)

multiply by 15% = $7565

add shipping , approx $1500 =$9065

multiply by 10% GST = $9972

Factor $1k for tyres and $1K for compliance type issues =$11065

Add lic , stamp duty = approx $900 and you have one cheap GTR

Problem is , the engine will be near dead so add another $6-8K which then makes your GTR not so attractive...

Cheers

Ken

ps , Fatz at 800Kyen it still comes out to about $15K on the road.

    • Sorry to hear your HFM BM57 was faulty,  did you contact HFM I would hope they would be at least grateful for the information if there was some sort of manufacturing fault, you would hope they would be sympathetic even if your item was 2 years old if it had never been fitted. May I ask where it leaked from ?
    • Cats are called Bella, and Donna...  Like that poisonous plant And I remember your 2 monsters, I remember making a little bit of wee when you let them out... LOL I have already installed cat doors into the laundry where their kitty litter is, and the sun room, apart from the cat doors there's not going to be any permanent mounted stuff on the interior walls (interior doors are cheap and easy to replace) I will get a outdoor cat cage thingie once I finish the landscaping out back... https://catnip.com.au/ The only off limit areas are the main bedroom and the gym room....but, currently the cats are curled up in bed, in the main bedroom with the Mrs.....LOL, the off limits for the kittens to the main bedroom lasted about 5 minutes with Jackie I currently only have 1 free standing huge cat tree multiple level scratching post thingie in the lounge room, but, I will be getting another one soon now that I'm happy with the furniture layout in the back room and have a perfect spot for it
    • All of this is making it seem clear that running the Coppermix twin was definitely the way to go, especially in hindsight with how insane tariffs have gotten and the strength of the USD vs yen at the time.
    • That sounds like no chance of even importing one for road registering then Now I see why Duncan wants to check LHD rules for Targa...   I wonder how "bolt in" the AWD would be if you got one imported from the US and swapped it to an AUD one
    • Not to mention they drive like a bucket of bolts! yuck!
