HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHa Great seat covers!

Why not let SAU do it up for you? Im sure there would be a heap of old parts people would be happy to donate as long as you're willing to "install" them....

(not that none of these parts would actually be used, just cosmetic  )

Anyone got a spare FMIC?

Oil cooler core? (lines not needed, it looks more ghetto when not plugged up)

Rims?

Roof spoiler?

Dildo gear knob?

Exhaust cannon?

Pod airfilter?

Bonnet vent - wrx style?

Roof vent - again, wrx style?

;)

I was being kind..lol....kinda. Yours Shell - Well it looks like a real Drift Pig with that paint job...nope thats not it. I meant to say real pigglet! bahaha.

  • 3 weeks later...

Didn't change rego and we cbf getting everything fixed on it!

This is a way better car and so far is proving to be a much better decision. Just need to find someone to do the CV joints and she'll be all good.

And on another note I think 4th gear synchros on the GTR are deaded :P Getting it looked at in a week or so.

Smurfs blood?? I'm apparently using quite a good transmission fluid that apparently shouldn't be ready for changing yet. Ed changed all fluids over for me when I bought the car.

He's going to change it again just in case but he's pretty sure its the synchro.

And again the exhaust/intercooler takes a back seat. Anyone had to do this kinda work before? I'm guessing its expensive?

Are both your boxes using smurf's blood already?

changed the fluid over shortly after i got the thing and that brought 4th back to life for a while but its getting a bit notchy again. 5th didn't change at all with the new fluid.

Try redline shockproof and see if that fixes it - its a strange blue fluid so thats where the name smurfs blood comes from. You'll see when you see the container

If it really is the synchro's that are gone, the boxes will have to come out and be stripped etc then worn synchro's replaced. While its all out and open, its a good time to upgrade to a new gearset if more power is on the cards at a later date (or some hard driving, fast shifting etc).

A new box is about 3k or so. From memory getting synchro's replaced is around the $1500 mark depending on whats broken etc (labour to pull the box out, strip, inspect, replace worn parts, assemble, refit to car) but may be more. I know someone in Sydney paid about 2k for that same service but the parts replaced inside make a difference to price obviously.

FYI mines in great condition, doesnt crunch at all, although i am careful on changes, its got a short shifter that i know is also shortning the gearbox life. When (not if) it's destroyed, im going the PAR straight cut 5 speed, comes with everything new that matters, and will cost about 4500. Of course thats for big power, so for anything up to 400kw atw as long as you dont launch it all the time and slam gear to gear, just get a 2nd hand box that you can test first and sell the old one for cheap knowing the buyer will have to fork out a fair amount of coin t get it going again :D

Yeah please keep us posted!

I just had a look around for a new stock box, as the 3k i mentioned might be wrong since the exchange rate changed. Turns out its a good thing i did;

Stock pull type box (pull, push, prices should be the same): $3499

http://justjap.com/store/product.php?produ...=278&page=1

OSGiken gearset: $4799

http://justjap.com/store/product.php?produ...=278&page=1

PAR is without doubt the best option now for a car like mine

LOL Just Jap is the last place in the world I'd be looking for parts that expensive :P

I agree, but its an indication of price :D

Ive used Canberra Nissan for GTR parts in the past, the old guy that works there is pretty good. Give him a call and ask for a price :P

N1GTR is that $4500 for the PAR gearset or $4500 for a transmission exchange?

Gearset supplied, fitted, in your box

Yes will certainly be shopping around. See what the second hand parts market has in the way of new or slightly used as well.

On a happy note it seemed to be behaving itself this morning but I think the fact that it has started playing up means it's only a matter of time. I'd just prefer it to not be right now :P

The GB didnt fail, people's perception of PAR failed after hearing lots of bad things about PAR gearboxes letting go. What wasnt mentioned though, is that they were all SR20 boxes, so after a wave of unhappy SR owners PM'd me and made the thread look shitty, i closed it cause i CBF'd with anyones bullshit when all the time the GB was meant to help people :D

...not a single person came forward with a GTR box that had a problem. There's a reason the RB box into the S chassis is so popular. There's even a few traders selling the kit as a complete bolt on option on NS.com

So yeah, im going PAR, there's also another low profile but massive HP GTR up here thats about to aswel. Come to think of it, there's a very high HP and profile GTR being rebuilt now and using a PAR box (oil pump let go on motor).

Anyway, to each their own

    • Absolute f*cking nightmare. I had to take breaks constantly, and I was always pissed off when I got home. The line split in Italy on day 2 (we drove from the Netherlands), lol. Driving any narrow European town was... well, sh*t.   Appreciate it man. Here, I'll just drop a favourite from the load I took on Saturday.   I'll update here when things happen with the car, the thing is, with stock power and almost everything chassis-wise taken care of, there really are no problems. 268,000kms now and counting.
    • Ah! I actually managed to snag a lightly used set.... that aren't so suitable for me right now. They don't work on a GTT without some cutting or creative heat moulding. I thought about reselling them myself cause I didn't want to murder them, but it looks like I'm probably going to attempt to murder them/melt them because I may as well. @GTSBoy @PranK can somebody close this thread?
    • Hey mate,  I have a set, one is slightly damaged but wont be noticable once installed.  Shoot me a message if your still after them
    • I couldn't wait But, the black constant tension hose clamps were too thick and there wasn't enough clearance at the T/B and I couldn't get it to seat properly, so I had use a silver one there I also added some 3" silicone over the alloy bit that goes through to hole on the radiator support as it looked like it was sitting on the edge of the hole in the radiator support, I never noticed a rattle or anything, but there was a witness mark It is basicly done, and I can live with the silver hose clamp at the T/B, I will get a black clamp for the head vent though where it is attached to the bulkhead fitting  It never stops...LOL, only issue now with the shock tower brace is it slightly touches the under bonnet liner now, if I leave it it will either wear some paint off the brace where it touches, or damage the liner, so I removed the liner to see what I have to work with, with the liner removed I have about 20mm of clearance, but sadly the middle part of the underside of the bonnet is only dusted with paint and looks crap, so I cannot have that, but.... as I have a roll of Carbuilders premium under bonnet insulation in the garage laying around that is only 5.5mm thick (we were going to use it on the boys Patrol, but he crashed the front of it a few months and it was written off, hence why he now drives my old Honda Accord Euro), I'll use the OEM liner as a template and get the Carbuilders stuff fitted up to cover that dusted paint up
