On hard accelleration ussually after going over a speed hump.

At 5000rpm hear a sound from the engine a bit like what you'd expect from a noisy error buzzer and the rpm gets stuck at 5000 rpm for a couple of seconds and no acceleration of car.

.

Has anyone experienced this and what do I need to do to fix it?

its not the auto gearbox getting stuck between a shift is it?

auto gearbox normally shifts around 5k rpm, it could be that its having trouble moving up to next gear, so it takes a small amount of time to move up.

Could be an electrics problem (altenator, battery or ecu) or perhaps the gearbox is on its way out?

Used to happen occasionally in the supra, gear shifts would take a few seconds, and during these few seconds the car would keep revving (car would lose acceleration too)

car sounds more like its grinding ERRRRRRRRRRR

completely different engine/exhaust note! Like I said before - an alarming ERROR BUZZER just slightly louder than normal when under full boost. It kind of reminds me of a sound like air trying to be blown so super hard/fast through a horn so that the noise goes away! blabblabblab at extremely high frequency.

This does not happen on a smooth road. Only when accelerating HARD just after the front wheels go up onto a big speed hump, going over speed humps which jolt the car.

Beyond me, sorry, im a simple man :D

it does sound like a gearbox issue though, do you still shift thru gears with your auto as if it is manual? (ie shift to '2' when approaching lights)

Maybe get a mechanic just to have a quick check over the car, just make sure nothing is loose?

no fully auto in power mode.

I'm starting to think that the speed hump may be causing the gear to change early.

Also I feel that it may be compressor surge on the turbo.

What I would like to find out is - if the exhaust pipe is not firmly mounted could it cause this sort of problem? My exhaust pipe could be bumping around a bit. Its 3" inc dump.

Also could brake issues such as air in lines or uneven disks cause this? I have ABS.

    • haha don't worry I'm sue you've got more fun ahead buying a 30 year old turbo car....but at least you are in the right place to ask
    • some days eh? The keyless entry and interior light on/off with the key will be controlled by the Body Control Module, but I'm not certain where that is or what it looks like (you might get lucky with a search to get a part#, which could be printed on it). I'd start at the A pillar/ Under dash/kick panel on the driver's side
    • It might be hit and miss, but Nissan Genuine Parts and Pitworks are not the same thing, although both are available from Nissan Dealers with Nissan Part Numbers. Nissan Genuine Parts are the OEM stuff, Pitworks are their attempt to get people back from generic parts makers
    • I did end up getting it sorted, as GTSBoy said, there was a corroded connection and wire that needed to be replaced. I ended up taking out the light assembly, giving everything a good clean and re-soldered the old joints, and it came out good.
    • Wow, thanks for your help guys 🙏. I really appreciate it. Thanks @Rezz, if i fail finding any new or used, full or partial set of original Stage carpets i will come back to you for sure 😉 Explenation is right there, i just missed it 🤦‍♂️. Thanks for pointing out. @soviet_merlin in the meantime, I received a reply from nengun, and i quote: "Thanks for your message and interest in Nengun. KG4900 is for the full set of floor mats, while KG4911 is only the Driver's Floor Mat. FR, RH means Front Right Hand Side. All the Full Set options are now discontinued. However, the Driver's Floor Mat options are still available according to the latest information available to us. We do not know what the differences would be, but if you only want the one mat, we can certainly see what we can find out for you". Interesting. It seems they still have some "new old stock" that Duncan mentioned 🤔. I wonder if they can provide any photos......And i also just realized that amayama have G4900 sets. I'm tempted too.
