R32 GTST is 1320kg

R33 GTST is 1370kg

R34 GTT is 1410kg

i don't know where you are going to find the factory info but that's the weights to the best of my knowledge.

All of which are lighter than an R32 GTR. :O

NB: i'm not trying to troll here, just informing the OP about some reasons why he might get bagged from other Skyline/car owners.

well I almost bought an R33 based on age/cost of the car, but there were a number of reasons I didnt. I really dislike that model of Skyline mainly because

They don't feel as stable on the road as a HR31 or R32 (and yeah I've been in one with a full Tein suspension setup like mine)

Common as hell - there's probably 30+ R33's here, I see probably as many R33's as HSV's! (not including GT-Rs)

The fact that around here a LOT of R33 owners tend to be really elitist about owning an 'import', and a number who used to completely snob me when I drove only a Commodore now suck up my ass cause I have a Skyline

I really don't like the styling, they remind me of the new Monaros!

BTW, I get other import owners giving me shit about mine, mainly that it looks like a 'Lebmobile', the fact that it weighs so much more cause of the 4WD, even having a Microtech computer in it!

Dude, who the f**k cares what they say. Forget wasting your time getting information to prove to your peer pressuring friends... Sounds like they just got out of year 12?

People say shit about your car because they are jealous. Do you think that every time they see a shit car they are going to say 'piece of shit'. They picked you because they are jealous.

I don't know where you live, but it sounds like you live in boganville too...

My mates give me shit because I like the taste of girl drinks better. Why are girl drinks better? Because they are more expensive. I tell my mates "Because I can afford it". Same applies to your commodore and skyline. (lol *waits for flames on girl drinks*)

I went from a commodore to 33. Makes me feel like I'm driving a merc once I get out of the commo and into the skyline.

By the way, I haven't gotten any shit from driving my car. All my mates drive commodores and shit like that. They love my car, always asking to go for drives and check it out.

Good luck with it, the R33's are not that different weight wise to the others its mainly the look that some people don't like.

I like the look of the R33, I do cop it because I own a Japanese sports car and its "jap crap" and its difficult to work on. While the difficult to work on part is true, I don't worry about it, its just peer pressure in the end.

Thanks Richie

I should just take a cement pill and harden up lol

my grandma who owns a 120k SLK230 kompressor enjoys driving my car more then her own lol

Also I'm not from boganville just Gold coast :)

Yes Ive heard the saying that people pay out on you car cause their jealous.

But i don't always think that may be always the reason.

I don't like some cars in the exotic $300,000 + range not cause i cant afford it but just cause it doesnt appeal too me.

Today I talked to a fellow 33 owner and kinda made me appreciate my car more as he said his 4 other friends also went with 33's etc etc

So really its my mates that are just discouraging me to stick with a 33 and therefore i feel the way i do.

but if i hanged around 33 owners it would be complete opposite :D

Are you a fashion follower?

Or are we fashion setters?

If you enjoy your wheels as you surely do, and you're willing to look outside the square, you watch! Others will follow you!

Be the Fonz! Or better still Jesus is King!

Remember how Fonzie says, "Heeeeyy!" :)

im not into fashion :D

but im into taste but surely you agree the chromie rims on a jap car arent the most suitable yeh?

Fonz.jpg

Heeeeyyy!!!

Dished out BBS in satin/titanium would look the goods

Must be forged lightweight rims at the same time - keep the weight down eg Volk, Rays LMGT3, BBS etc for the R33

Don't go much 4 Lenso, Enkei atm

Thats completely right... People don't like change. It takes a little time but you might find yourself at the front of the pack

My brother lives at the gold coast so I tend to visit him every so often. I know the coppas around there don't like our cars lol... But I have seen quite of few of them at the GC

Pic was gold :(

I bought my 33 sii some 7 weeks ago and have not regretted it since. Everyone who's jumped in it has complimented the car... even the guys who drive v8 commo's.

No one agreed with me when I had decided I was going to buy a 33 skyline because "everyone has them" and "they're too heavy" but I didn't care what they thought and ended up buying it anyway.

At the end of the day, it's your money, you do what you want with it. If you like the 33 skyline, then buy yourself the 33 skyline. I don't think you'll find anyone who has greatly regretted buying a 33 even after they have spent all their earnings modding the thing.

As Matty said, "If you enjoy your wheels as you surely do, and you're willing to look outside the square, you watch! Others will follow you!" - It's true!! Others WILL follow.

Since I bought my car, 3 of my mates who jumped in it, that's right, THREE, have now decided to sell their car and buy a Jap performance; one of them just picked up a WRX (fine, it's not a skyline, but it's still an initiative that occured due to my purchasing of the 33 as was said by my mate himself) and the other two are looking at S14 sii and R33 sii.

Enough blabbing from me.

Enjoy your skyline mate!!! :(

Cheers,

Elias

    • As discussed in the previous post, the bushes in the 110 needed replacing. I took this opportunity to replace the castor bushes, the front lower control arm, lower the car and get the alignment dialled in with new tyres. I took it down to Alignment Motorsports on the GC to get this work done and also get more out of the Shockworks as I felt like I wasn't getting the full use out of them.  To cut a very long story short, it ended up being the case the passenger side castor arm wouldn't accept the brand new bush as the sleeve had worn badly enough to the point you could push the new bush in by hand and completely through. Trying a pair of TRD bushes didn't fix the issue either (I had originally gone with Hardrace bushes). We needed to urgently source another castor arm, and thankfully this was sourced and the guys at the shop worked on my car until 7pm on a Saturday to get everything done. The car rides a lot nicer now with the suspension dialled in properly. Lowered the car a little as well to suit the lower profile front tyres, and just bring the car down generally. Eternally thankful for the guys down at the shop to get the car sorted, we both pulled big favours from our contacts to get it done on the Saturday.  Also plugged in the new Stedi foglights into the S15, and even from a quick test in the garage I'm keen to see how they look out on the road. I had some concerns about the length of the LED body and whether it'd fit in the foglight housing but it's fine.  I've got a small window coming up next month where I'll likely get a little paint work done on the 110 to remove the rear wing, add a boot wing and roof wing, get the side skirt fixed up and colour match the little panel on the tail lights so that I can install some badges that I've kept in storage. I'm also tempted to put in a new pair of headlights on the 110.  Until then, here's some more pictures from Easter this year.
    • I would put a fuel pressure gauge between the filter and the fuel rail, see if it's maintaining good fuel pressure at idle going up to the point when it stalls. Do you see any strange behavior in commanded fuel leading up to the point when it stalls? You might have to start going through the service manual and doing a long list of sensor tests if it's not the fuel system for whatever reason.
    • Hi,  Just joined the forum so I could share my "fix" of this problem. Might be of use to someone. Had the same hunting at idle issue on my V36 with VQ35HR engine after swapping the engine because the original one got overheated.  While changing the engine I made the mistake of cleaning the throttle bodies and tried all the tricks i could find to do a throttle relearn with no luck. Gave in and took it to a shop and they couldn't sort it. Then took it to my local Nissan dealership and they couldn't get it to idle properly. They said I'd need to replace the throttle bodies and the ecu probably costing more than the car is worth. So I had the idea of replacing the carbon I cleaned out with a thin layer of super glue and it's back to normal idle now. Bit rough but saved the car from the wreckers 🤣
    • After my last update, I went ahead with cleaning and restoring the entire fuel system. This included removing the tank and cleaning it with the Beyond Balistics solution, power washing it multiple times, drying it thoroughly, rinsing with IPA, drying again with heat gun and compressed air. Also, cleaning out the lines, fuel rail, and replacing the fuel pump with an OEM-style one. During the cleaning process, I replaced several hoses - including the breather hose on the fuel tank, which turned out to be the cause of the earlier fuel leak. This is what the old fuel filter looked like: Fuel tank before cleaning: Dirty Fuel Tank.mp4   Fuel tank after cleaning (some staining remains): Clean Fuel Tank.mp4 Both the OEM 270cc and new DeatschWerks 550cc injectors were cleaned professionally by a shop. Before reassembling everything, I tested the fuel flow by running the pump output into a container at the fuel filter location - flow looked good. I then fitted the new fuel filter and reassembled the rest of the system. Fuel Flow Test.mp4 Test 1 - 550cc injectors Ran the new fuel pump with its supplied diagonal strainer (different from OEM’s flat strainer) and my 550cc injectors using the same resized-injector map I had successfully used before. At first, it idled roughly and stalled when I applied throttle. Checked the spark plugs and found that they were fouled with carbon (likely from the earlier overly rich running when the injectors were clogged). After cleaning the plugs, the car started fine. However, it would only idle for 30–60 seconds before stalling, and while driving it would feel like a “fuel cut” after a few seconds - though it wouldn’t fully stall. Test 2 – Strainer swap Suspecting the diagonal strainer might not be reaching the tank bottom, I swapped it for the original flat strainer and filled the tank with ~45L of fuel. The issue persisted exactly the same. Test 3 – OEM injectors To eliminate tuning variables, I reinstalled the OEM 270cc injectors and reverted to the original map. Cleaned the spark plugs again just in-case. The stalling and “fuel cut” still remained.   At this stage, I suspect an intermittent power or connection fault at the fuel pump hanger, caused during the cleaning process. This has led me to look into getting Frenchy’s fuel hanger and replacing the unit entirely. TL;DR: Cleaned and restored the fuel system (tank, lines, rail, pump). Tested 550cc injectors with the same resized-injector map as before, but the car stalls at idle and experiences what feels like “fuel cut” after a few seconds of driving. Swapped back to OEM injectors with original map to rule out tuning, but the issue persists. Now suspecting an intermittent power or connection fault at the fuel pump hanger, possibly cause by the cleaning process.
