my girlfriend and i recently picked up our first skyline, 96 r33 series 2 4door non turbo was a score with only 32,000 on the clock when we picked it up!

so far we have installed a full clarion system K&N Panel filter and 2 1/2" cat back exhaust its going in for a dyno tune soon and was thinking of advancing the timing, what other mods could be done for under $1500? thinkin extrators highflow cat and a chip and possibly a bigger cam?

any help is appreciated thanks!

Nice find dude!

In all honesty, dyno tuning it with just a catback/filter is a waste of coin, as any tangible gains will be negligible. You're better off waiting until after you've done everything else on your list.

If i were in your position, i'd put my money towards suspension mods and work on the handling side of things, rather than molesting what appears to be a pristine engine. Much as i love my NA, i'm aware that the power road for it it quite expensive and doesn't really go far. But living on the great ocean road, turning and stopping is where all the fun is!

If you're really keen on more power, save your money and put it towards a 25/30 conversion.

I agree with the above. Get the best set of tires and a suspension upgrade you will not regret it, especially when the road turns twisty

Nice ride btw!

yea think we'll leave it fairly stock n just wait till my gf can drive turbo.. sway bars n strut bars sound the go love the windy roads plenty where i am!

Good man.. :)

Then Id recommend good tyres.. and a decent huggy seat, fixed back are bext but there are sacrifices you make for it.

If you can squeeze the budget.. coilovers are amazing..

by the way.. good work on getting a four door.. :)

Four door love

depends on what you want to use the car for? in all honesty you wouldnt even be pushing the limits of the car on the streets with stock suspension.

a quick freshen up with new or reconditioned shocks and some bushes will satisfy

why would bushs n shocks be stuffed already at only 36,000k's, car drives tight as on the road with not one single rattle!

cars being used mainly as a cruiser its my girls first car shes only on her l's so the only time it gets drivin hard is when im behind the wheel

think were just gunna put some 18" work or rays rims with nice dish on the back n maybe some coilovers and finish the stereo

like i said think were just gunna put some 18" work or rays 5 or 6 spoke rims with nice dish and a inch or 2 lower and coil overs when we can afford it!

exhaust sounds awesome now i've done a few k's on it! its only an auto but for my girlfriends first car its bloody nice!

i like the look of the spoiler but thinking of trying what it looks like with out it

its factory 5 stud wheels pretty sure the series 2 where all 5 stud?

do these have a speed cut at 180kmh? only taken it to 180 once, didnt go over. bit worrying doing that with cracked tyres n it bein illegal n all...

because car mileage isn't really any indicator of condition. bushes do degrade over time and these cars may have been sitting around for quite some time. all i'm saying is give the basics a quick look over to check before diving in and buying new stuff.

5 stud doesn't sound correct. show us a picture of the brake/caliper set up.

dont know how many other skyline owners have tried tellin me its not a factory 5 stud????

trust me shes a 5 stud from factory, the series 2 r33 4 door non turbo has n extra 10kw then series 1, duel airbags, same brakes as the turbo model (4 piston front) AND 5 stud wheels and better interior!

car has just done 36,000k's the bushes look like new to me

i'll get some better pics later along with interior shots.

36000k on a 12yr old car? most imports get their clocks wound back

Definitely. I'm not trying hang on your car mate, but I seriously doubt it's only done 36,000km. If you haven't taken it in for a major service I'd do that now. My mechanic even said to me that a lot of older Skylines have been wound back at one point or another and the best you can do is give it a good check over, service and start logging its history from there.

    • Thanks for the linkie. Certainly always a great deal of help when people post comparisons like these, but I think for now I'll stay away from any semi slicks. I did go ahead and order the sportcontact 7. My buddy has them on his modified A4 and he keeps saying how good they are. For my intended purposes these will probably work real well. I'll report on them once I had the chance to try them out
    • Talk about noisy. Even when I still had the Tomei under the car I could distinctly hear the tires rolling. And I doubt I ever will need maximum grip like on a track. My GTR will maybe never even see the 600hp mark and I need to get used to the car quite a bit before challenging the limits of its handling. For the next winter storage I think I will get a set of these rubber drive-on thingies that have a tire shaped base. Those supposedly really help prevent flat spots.
    • Well our climate is definitely way less hot overall and the weather can be quite picky at times. I just know that during normal road use or even spirited drives there is no way I'd be able to consistently stay in the operating temperature, and constantly changing the tire pressure would also be a royal pain.
    • Input shaft bearing. They all do it. There is always rollover noise in Nissan boxes - particularly the big box. Don't worry about it unless it gets really growly.
    • For once a good news  It needed to be adjusted by that one nut and it is ok  At least something was easy But thank you very much for help. But a small issue is now(gearbox) that when the car is stationary you can hear "clinking" from gearbox so some of the bearing is 100% not that happy... It goes away once you push clutch so it is 100% gearbox. Just if you know...what that bearing could be? It sounding like "spun bearing" but it is louder.
