someone was saying keep your car clean and neat ?>

this makes no diff. ive seen many stock looking skylines pulled over / all they look for is the round lights, and thats pretty hard to change.

so im gonna do what i want to the car. if i get caught its my own fault.

like I asked earlier, what station are you based at?

Somehow, I doubt very much that you'll answer that question.

No hostility towards cops, I deal with them regularly and have several friends in the job........however, I doubt very much that you're in the job

RBT/Drug testing stations exist at all major sporting (including motorsport) events in the state as well as other major events. Why? And why do Police seem to be out in force? Because it's funded federally. They provide the funding because their statistics indicate that it works.

The defects that are found on the site are roadworthy issues or breach of ADR's. Police don't actively set out to only find defects at these stations but we have eyes and its our job to action the things we find.

so would you say that the drifting events don't attract any more police attention relative to the numbers attending?

i can guarentee you that isn't the case, it's actually been pretty good lately, but i remember a time when i couldnt go to a drift practice without expecting massive cop presence. relatively speaking they were tiny sporting events, hell most of your local footy games would draw more numbers.

thankfully we have been working with an officer in Mallala who has been extremely helpful, but even he can't stop officers from the nearby larger towns coming in and making a mess of each drift practice and competition there. but as i said, it has certainly seemed to get better lately.

You may also be suprised to learn that attention towards imports isn't always unwarranted. The amount of imports I see flogging their cars around on the street and/or racing far outweighs anything else (except and RCK cruise of course!). Skylines are, as you all know, an increasingly popular weapon of choice for car theives so Police need to be vigilant in detecting these guys. And as long as I have cars baiting me into chasing them (like a certain black Stagea while on the way to a priority A job - I have a long memory buddy), sorry but my spidey senses tingle slightly whenever one's around.

You can try all you like and I'll wish you well but the fact of the matter is, the state Government do not want missiles on the road. They also believe that with the corruption etc that exists in the eastern states, that the roadworthy inspection system doesn't work. Apart from Regency, which is obviously more expensive, I think everyone should agree that $24.50 is hardly "revenue raising" when it forces a car owner to address some often basic safety issues with their car.

this is the issue, there are dickheads thrashing their imports which gives the cars a bad name, and im happy to be kept a close eye on, but when it gets to the point where officers are going to length just to defect my car because of a stereotype driving a car like mine comes with, i think we have all the right to question it.

as i'm sure you are aware, most cars on the road are defectable in one way or another, anyone who has been through regency would know exactly how anal they are about road-worthiness. but these cars never get a 2nd look, even if the defects they have are much more of a safety issue than maybe a exhaust at 92db or a atmospheric BOV.

a good example of how targeting affects defects is my mum drives around a VT commodore, bright gold paint, body kit, loud exhaust, aftermarket wheels, even had no tail lights for ages, she has never been pulled over in the car, she has been through RBT's and not had a 2nd look.

all id say is officers now have hoon laws they can and do enforce, if they see an import driver doing something really stupid then they get pinned for it, those who arnt doing something stupid shouldnt have to cop a defect because they are suspected of being a hoon.

And finally, I know how it feels. Especially when your cars the biggest part of your life. I know because until recently, when petrol prices forced me out of turbo ownership (for now) I was just like you. The biggest tip I can give is KISS - and keep it classy. If you want to polish your intercooler pipes, paint your bonnet black, have some stupid offset wheels, a ridiculously loud exhaust with no cat, and a atmo-bov, you may as well book your regency appointment now. If you don't want an all expenses paid date with regency (where you foot the bill), build a performance car that looks neat, goes hard and doesn't attract attention.

See you on the streets

what is illegal about intercooler pipes and painting your bonnet black? i have been through regency with polished alloy piping and not had an issue, unfortunately i have also been defected for intercooler piping before, but that was a mistake on the officers behalf, and a damn expensive one for me that's for sure.

also keeping a tidy modified car isnt going to stop you from getting defected, i have been defected for legal modifications before, there's nothing fun about having to sit there and keep your mouth shut while an officer sends you off to regency for parts which you have been through regency before with and are 100% legal.

I have to disagree here. I've been pulled over around 5 times at RBT's and everytime the police have just watched me drive past, car full of ppl and all they do is check my tyres/rego, check my blood alcohol limit and off i go. Even got pulled over for doing 97 in an 80 zone (there was a holden doing around 100k's in the next lane, he still pulled ME over) said to me he'd rather pull over an inexperienced driver in an import then an older guy in a commodore, but then he let me off with a warning, most cops are nice, ya get lucky sometimes. Anyhow what i was saying was they dont pull you over just because of lights and stuff, i've driven around glenelg and the city many, many nights and never had a problem with them. This said my cars not that loud and doesnt attract much attention with its looks.

And to what lunacy has stated, put up with it, no matter what you do/say nothings gunna change, move to QLD if you want things differant!!!

SLED: I'm not sure whats happened in the past but based on your subtle brand of hostility I won't respond to your posts. I'd simply hoped you'd appreciate some unbiased opinion from the other side of the fence for a change

mate i think its time to come clean your not a cop. it seems its becoming the popular thing to do here pretend to be a cop and stir a reaction wasnt really funny the first time and second time you'll forgive us for being quite bored with it.

you put your name in as "hotfuzz" im guessing as a joke with reference to that movie, while your here feel free to make a club donation if you like :D

back on topic generally guys its good to be polite when pulled over, most will generally return the manners. as in all walks of life some people are just assholes but most will be nice if you play nice to.

Im not saying I get pulled over all the time either.

but if your driving a skyline and they are LOOKING for defects. they will still look at a stock skyline.

Ive driven next to police before. no probs. wheels, exhaust, lowered etc etc. dont even look.

but if a cop is on a defect binge a stock skyline will be targeted.

they arent that stupid. they know what sleepers are.

I have a friend cop who had a nice s15, and now a evo. he knows a stock looking car can be defected.

^^^ Nar i see where your coming from and i know they defect ppl for stupid things and for things that arnt defectable, some 'officers' take the power too far and show off infront of other officers and the drivers/passengers of the vehicle. Just sucks if you come across one of these ppl. Im just lucky i havnt been defected, although i havnt been driving for 6 months.

haha reminds me of a mate who bought a brand new wrx sti, driving it out the show room, and got defected for a momo sports steering wheel! cops didnt want a bar of anything he said! was on rexnet.com ages ago

Lunacy, even if you could make any valid points now, you have a problem with anyone taking you seriously after being owned on 3 different forums and 2 different identities......impersonating a cop was probably the most stupid thing you've done IMO

sorry when did i impersonate a cop?!!!

there are allot of kids on these forums so yes it is hard to be taken seriously.

if qld can have things changed why cant we WHY. is it because of the reaction i got from most people sending this post?

everything I'm asking is very fare and is done in other states. It will make everyone happy, the car industry/scene/events/jobs/excitement will grow= more money for businesses and new growth.

I saw hotfuzz and 2 things clicked...

1. Hes got a funny username... Hot and fuzz. Quick guys, lets bolt - the fuzz are rocking up... and then Pete opened the can and Bobs your uncle - it all clicked.

2. Hotcops post was too sanitized and coplike for it to sound street. Polish your intercooler pipes? Paint your bonnet black?? Seriously dude, how dumb do you think we are?

How i laughed at the "Missles on the road" comment, for one.

Wow, you know i find that AMAZING.

Missles eh? Soooo....what do you call the Holden 427 thats being preordered and selling out?

A boat?

Also, why did the government allow the import of what is probably the craziest SCUD of them all, the R35?

No missles eh?

Scratching the surface.

Mate, just come clean or leave...no point staying if your only going to be a shitty example of a wolf in sheeps clothing is there?

God how i love driving in Japan...no hassles, no problems, fun, easy going, times when i can blast and not have to stress... No defects.

    • Nice, thanks for sharing your progress....that's a pretty long list you are putting into it!
    • Decided to upgrade my pressurised plastic coolant expansion tank for a fancy pants alloy version The OEM versions can get brittle, even the new plastic one I got when I first got the car is a starting to show signs of "stress" I wasn't cheap, but it is basically unbreakable
    • Morning all, I have an RB25DET Neo that's in need of a rebuild. Will need new pistons etc due to detonation damage. Would anyone be able to recommend a shop in Southeast Queensland who I could bring my long motor to for a rebuild? Just want someone who knows RBs and whos built a bunch of them before. TLDR - recommended engine shops for RB rebuild.
    • Gday Thought it was about time I started a build thread! As expected this project has snowballed into a huge financial liability, but unless you’re strong willed and responsible, it’s not a surprise. Background -  My first turbo car was an R32 GTS-4, got my full license and then totalled my Au Falcon a week later, so while trying to sell my RMZ450 dirtbike to buy another car a bloke offered to swap the R32 which at the time I felt like I was ripped off but looking back and seeing prices of those now ($40kish) it was a good deal, I didn’t know enough about these cars to appreciate what I had so sold it before the RB20 blew up. Between here and there, out of 12 cars I’ve owned the note worthy ones are a V8 Lexus SC400 (soarer), a couple of XR6 Turbos and my beloved S15 which I had for about 3 years, picked it up for $12500, repairable write off but she was fine, gun metal grey/pewter and bone stock/unmolested until I got my hands on it. Ended up spending about the value of the car and 280kw, 2 demerit points by the time I got defected and sold it for $14500 (also $40kish in today’s market, rip) Fast forward to the present day, I’m in a much better position financially and daily an MQ Triton (great cars, pipe down Ranger Bois), I cruised marketplace and car sales for a few months looking for another R32, the best deal I could find was an absolute rust bucket half finished project for $12000, until this R33 popped up in Port Macquarie for $18k - unregistered and barely running but decent shape, kept an eye on it for a few weeks and the price steadily dropped, $16k then $15k then $14k, that was the point where I was like shit someone’s gonna snatch this up! It was owned by a young bloke who had big plans but him and his missus just had a baby so smartest move financially for them but big gain for me. So 2 days later I’m towing a car trailer to pick this thing up. Roughly 2 weeks and $3500 later I’m cruising around Newcastle in my beat up R33 all smiles and dose noises! It only needed some basic shit to get it going, coil packs and air flow meter, electrical stuff and all fluids changed, 158k kms and running pretty good, nice smooth engine after oil and coolant flush - when I say coolant I mean it had been filled up with tap water, every gallery and heater element was filled with rust, 8-9 flushes later and still had brown liquid coming out but she’ll be right. The car was painted R34 Bayside Blue at some point but whether it was a cheap job or just not looked after is anyone’s guess, clear coat flaking like sausage roll.  Was rethinking my choices and contemplating life, had it up for sale for $22k - still cheaper than any registered R33 but got little interest, next minute I had an opportunity at work - 6 months overseas for good money, so that was a no brainer, fast forward again and here we are with a 50% finished project. Current Mods - 200ish KW according to butt dyno Was tuned with Apexi PowerFC EBC (old school Greddy Profec)  Stock turbo (more shaft play than a Tinder date gone right) 3inch turbo back Varex muffler  Aftermarket injectors of mystery size, Power FC showed 36% duty cycle at full boost so not behd good size Someone had good intentions but stuck with the stock R33 MAF so we had misfires at 6000rpm due to the MAF hitting 5.2V So far I’ve redone the entire interior with carpet form Car Mats Direct, new Seats and steering wheel from Autotechnica, also sound system by Autobarn (mainly Kicker) Also MCA pro comfort coil overs - Hands down best purchase yet, worlds of improvement over the tired 30yrold shocks Goals - 450kw/600hp on flex tune New paint job - Midnight Purple 2 Engine is at the shop getting rebuilt with forged rods a pistons, new valves and springs, ATI Harmonic balancer, Aeroflow 7.5L sump, rear head drain and oil restrictors as per oil control thread* and cam covers modded for larger breathers, other stuff I can’t recall of the top of my head Parts purchased and to be installed once the engine is done -  Engine loom from Wiring Specialties including these options: Haltech Nexus S3 R35 Coil pack conversion  PRP Dual Trigger kit Fan controller  Other Parts -  262 Kelford Cams Turbo - Hypergear ATR43SS3-ProS with T51R mod (whistly boi) 6 boost manifold (high mount) 50mm Turbosmart Pro gate (plumbed back for legal reasons) HKS Super Turbo Exhaust with High Flow Cat Custom 3.5inch dump and front pipe 1500cc Bosch injectors  Fuel Pump walbro 525 Haltech MAP and IAT sensors Haltech Flex Sensor Fenix Radiator with dual thermo fans LS1 Alternator Kit Oil Filter Relocation from EFI solutions and Cooling pro oil cooler Many other things sitting in my garage waiting for that engine to come back. • Losses have to be less with DC coupling. Provided the battery inverter has decent MPP tracking ability - which really shouldn't be a problem. It's not 2005 any more.
