i just looked at the color

and the colour was ..... ?

so in effect what your saying is this engine produces around 1200-1300 flywheel horsepower on Sunoco with 1000cc injectors.

and johnny what happened to your avatar ?

Use viagra if you want 'response' lolz

I read an article about using nos to help spool up a large turbo, i think it was by autosound. Like a 50hp shot on the track can shave a good few tenths off the time.

injector duty (btw i guessed 1000cc, i just looked at the color) was a concern during final runs and ultimately determined peak power (base pressure is also something i would like to leave unsaid) but it was an area well and sorted. All this stuff is really unimportant but anyway...cause at the end of the day it is only a figure but previous heavy hitters running in the 550-700rwkw range on my dyno went on to run nearly 150rwkw more on a dyno dynamics dyno on the westside of melbourne in a dyno comp in dd shootout mode (preparations for the next summer nats) so im pretty confident that the car makes between 950 and 1050 genuine horsepower... as ive said previous any doubters are more than welcome to bring thier cars down and run them up on the dyno for free (providing they make decent numbers, as my time is money) and they can see for themselves.

I would tend to agree that the car is capable of making 950-1050hp too. Not doubting that.

Would love to see it on the strip though.

so your now saying on a Dyno Dynamics dyno it will make 200hp more...so thats 1200rwhp or over 1500hp at the engine

your now starting to be a little silly!

not only are you a good tuner but an excellent magician...my daughter is having her 1st birthday party on Sunday...are you free?

Just so we are clear, is he saying it was 1002whp or 1002bhp? quite a big difference.

Personally I think a dyno is really only for a comparison to check changes made have made an improvement, absolute figures usually can't be measured that acuratly.

If you measure say 500whp, make a change and run it up under the same conditions and get 550whp you know you have 10% more than you had but probably can't give too much weight to the actual whp figure unless you back it up with mph V weight at the strip.

Mph V weight is indisputable and there's no way round needing a certain amount of power to get a certain result, you'd be surprised how many guys think, or have been told, they have big whp but don't even get close to backing it up with the correct mph at the strip.

My piss-ant little 265kW (355hp) has run faster (MPH) than plenty of so-called 500rwhp cars :ninja:

No im saying that power figures are all over the place, there is no way my dyno reads 200hp high... so my point is what are these other clowns doing??? you implied that i fudged the dyno (impossible with the dynapack) to make it read high, i am mearly saying if anything my dyno reads conservative compared to older versions and nearly bang on to late model DD's. (i have averaged between 2 and 3 tunes a day since i bought this new dyno and a total of 93 diferrent cars so i have pretty good comparisons to go by as MOST of my tuning is reparing other peoples tunes so customers nearly always front up a dyno sheet... )

last thing i expected was some self professed expert to get all bent up about it....

as i said before we will leave it to other dynos to see what it pulls... probably pull 5000hp at summernats :ninja:, i am 100% confident of 900+ consistant pulls regardless of dyno type.

BTW if you believe there is a 500hp drivetrain loss in a skyline you are surely misguided.... even my old V8 auto 1994 lost half that between the engine dyno and the old dd i used to use.

i 100% agree, kinda my point above. I have had one of the summernats crazy supercharged V8's on my dyno and it fell way short of what it was apparentley making... like a staggering 330rwhp..... owner put it down to mecahnical issues but by all means was running sweet as and leaning on it anymore would have resulted in tears.

How do you figure he'll lose 300hp from engine to wheel?

You don't lose a percentage of your hp, you lose a fixed amount. Another guy with a 34GTT is not going to lose 50hp because his is stock and this guy loses 300 because he makes 1000hp.

They will both lose around 80hp

lookin @ the dyno sheet.. the way it delivers its power...

that would be like a switch hahaha

but it would be owned by something makin much less power @ the traffic lights

its just so fkn laggy!

oh and btw.. u dont lose a fixed amount of power.. its a percentage. :)

every single engineer knows this.. are u one?? i would say not.. am i?? most definately :D

also.. power is just torque with rpm... if rpm climbs higher than torque drops.. power rises

i noticed it drops off extremely quick up the top thou.. not even stock turbos do that.. whats the deal there??

All frills aside, the bottom line is this car makes a shitload of power and is a testament to the owner and all involved. Fantastic work.

Now take this daily driver to the strip :)

correct...the more power a car generates the more a drivetrain is stressed and the losses i.e. heat is generated.

where was a 500hp drivetrain loss mentioned in anything but your own post?

im not getting all "bent up about it" just can't get my head around 1000cc injectors making 1200hp on Sunoco...thats all. If something clearly doesn't add up to me i ask the question...is that ok?...Just because i didn't line up with the back slappers on the first 3 pages doesn't mean im not impressed...around 800hp is what i estimate the car will roll at Autosalon. Please prove me wrong.

    • Just trying to get my head around this. At 5psi of boost, you turn on your wmi pump, and then you're using a 3000cc injector, to allow flow upto the actual engine, where you have your 6x200cc injectors and a 500cc injector. If the above is correct, what advantage are you obtaining by having the 3000cc injector blocking flow, is this just incase a line breaks between that injector and the motor you can stop flow immediately? Or are the 6x200cc and 500cc less injectors and just spray nozzle?
    • Welcome! New member myself, but I had an R33 back in 2002. Best advice I could give, based on my experience: if you're running the factory turbo, be very conservative with boost. I made the mistake of just fiddling around with the boost controller and cranking the boost for fun, and the end result was my intake pipes popping off frequently from the constant deluge of oil that was being blown into the recirc by the stressed-out turbo, which itself was siphoning oil from the engine and farting it out both sides of its centre bearing (or something to that effect). If I could do it all again, I would have gotten a new turbo and had a tune dialled in professionally and then just left it alone! Funny you mention the metal shavings in the gearbox, as I had the same thing - the probe plug (magnetic drain plug, essentially) would come out caked with shavings. At least it was doing its job. Not sure if that's just sacrificial wear and part of the deal, or if my gearbox was shagged, but I wasn't abusing it. Enjoy the R33 - they're a dying breed, and if they weren't $35k+ on CarSales in Queensland, I might have picked up one of those again, instead of the 370GT I own now (though I'm loving the 370GT, that big 3.7L V6 just hits different).
    • Howdy folks. I owned an R33 back in 2002, which was thoroughly beyond my capacity (financially speaking) to maintain/insure, so we parted ways in 2004. Fast forward 21 years (to literally yesterday, in fact) and I'm now the proud owner of a 2007 V36 370GT. I'm happily surprised by how much power the VQ37VHR makes, compared to the RB25DET, considering the latter is turbocharged. I had planned to add a turbo at some point but I'm on the fence about whether I'll even need it (though I do love the sudden onset of extra torque). Any other 370GT owners around the traps, I'd love to hear about your experiences with this car (good and bad).
    • Perhaps the answer is... more jacks!* *proper jacks must be used.
    • I NEVER think about using a scissor jack unless there is absolutely no other alternative. f**king things are dangerous, annoying and stupid.
