Little Heads Up...new Cops In The Se?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

just thought I'd give a heads up... last weekend I was cruising around the Hawthorn rd, North rd, Neapen hwy area... sorta beach drive... anyway at about 10-11 at night I saw some cop lights in the distance.. as I came up they were not from an undercover ss or standard Police car.. They were coming from a new dark blue Mitsubish 380! he had someone pulled over... I had a second and third look to make sure I wasent tired, but my gf was just as confused...went to a pizza shop, ate, headed back the same way... see him on the other side of the road picking up someone else! any way more crusing... come back around the area and sure enough find him writing a ticket for a parked car at like 12 am... (i know because there was no one else around and no one in the other car) so I thought crap.. this guy must want to be super cop or wants to make lots of people really unhappy....

I took a pic... but the bloody nightmode and slow capture time on my fone left nothing there... just a blur of his reflecting uniform ...

The car specs from what I could see: 07/08 model Mitsubishi 380. Ultra dark tint. factory alloys?

Regards,

Adam

Well I drove past an undercover Forrester wagon the other week... can't remember where it was.. either City or Epping area.. was a bit surprised caus I don't look out for them usually..

Also seen detectives in a very old Beamer turn up to my ex neighbours house a few years back

yeh cops have been doing alot of sneaky shit for ages. 380's aren't very recent news. in hoppers crossing theres a undercover cop in a silver AU XR8 ute. seen a few in unmarked landcruisers, vw vans and also a jeep wranglers.

should be alert for anything with 2 or more antennas.

in regards to the old bmw.. I have seen weird cop cars over the years as well.. but I thought as they are ditectives they can have all different types of cars.. but road cops need a certain range?? thought that this might just be their new revenue raiser... never mind :(

mmm.. #3... thats an issue.. how bout painting some cardboard and sticking it on the car to look like a charade?

dont have any other thoughts...

am tired actually.. night all

i've seen a few VE omega's around with the obligatory ariels and they also had a LED light strip on the parcel shelf. however the only time i got a chance to look at the passengers, they were quite old. 50's old. wtf? arent omegae's the base model? are these cop cars?

transformer buttons should be installed on all skylines to avoid cops.

mine would transform into a cop car. =)

i seen a number of cars used over the years, comms, falcons, various utes, foresters, wrx, corollas, hiluxes, prius, avalons, camerys, magnas, wranglers, h2hummers, 330ci convetable bmw's ( drove past 4 undercovers wif big fat grins on their faces). end of the day cops can be driving anything but as long as u keep to rules 1 and 2 of jakez88 rule book you will be fine. Rule 3 should be turfed out the window!!

I've seen an undercover 380 a few times, also saw an undercover ute over the weekend so I guess these days there driving anything and everything. Also heard there in Corolla's and Camry's so need to be extra careful

Best two i've seen....

Baby blue Toyota Camry unmarked.

Marked Holden Barina! I pulled up next to this car at the lights and was laughing my ass off. The cop didnt look to happy about it. :(

my next door neighbours a sheriff and they were told by upper management in the force that they were being upgraded from unmarked commos and falcons to toyota pruis .... hahaha ... so they bought a small fleet of them 4 the sheriffs to try out. all sheriffs carry those massive tyre clamps....3 to be exact and what ever else they need 4 day to day activities.. so when they moved all the items in a falcon sedan to a prius ..they managed to fit 1 tyre clamp and 1/3 the amount of items needed on a daily basis..... point of story ... beware the unmarked prius's .. they got given to the undercovers 2 putt around town in

I had a good lol in the rmit lab.... people looked at me weird :)

Man I cannot believe how many variations of cop cars there are now!

Theres an unmarked black r32 with chromes and P-Plate hanging near the license plate in NSW. There's a picture of it in one of the zoom magazines. Not sure which month hehe

Lets hope vic pol dont get the same idea :P

    • I've seen similar actually in my situation. You never know what tables are attempted to be used when the car thinks it's -99C or +200C. The fail state is not usually that extreme but you know what I mean - it was in my case though! This is where being able to read all the sensors is useful cause you see this stuff really quickly.
    • The above is very important. However as long as you keep timing relatively low, it's plausible to make your own knock ears and plausible to learn to tune with a modern ECU that can do wideband O2 correction like a boost controller. I mean if you only have one viable road to even drive the car on, learning to tinker to this level may be worth doing given you can't do much else with the car...?
    • I find the fact that the rear plate has to be bent inwards at the rear not so bad: but the front is just awful: It's like come on. (these are my very old, now retired/turned in plates) TBH it is a lot of money to fix a minor issue, the fact I said "I'll never really spend the money on doing this" is why people ended up buying them as a gift for a 'car guy' who can be hard to shop for.. for car guy things.
    • I just bent the ends of my premo plates. It even went through Regency like that after the engine conversion and the inspector (a great bloke!) just squinted his eyes and said "I didn't see that". Plates, and how they look, are just something that have zero importance to me.
    • Yeah, I would have said the same. It makes me suggest that there are other things wrong, such that the ECU is totally unhappy with the broken sensor. The only other thought here is that maybe it is shorted, which might cause a different issue to the typical "disconnected" sensor.
