Hey guys,

New to the seen, was wondering what kind of revs your r33 (s1 coupe) rb25de 5spd manual sits at, at 100ks in 5th?

Just wondering if someone has changed the gear ratios or it is standard.

I am needing to use 5th gear at 60kph at about 1500rpm and 2300ish rpm at 80kph

Is this normal?

I am used to driving my dads camry which 4th is for 60 and 5th is only for 80plus

Any help/info would be highly appreciated

Thanks,

Nathan

i believe its normal, i have exactally the same car (s1 gts25) same engine too, and yeah mine revs at bout same range urz does. When on the freeway doing bout 100km/h limiter hits about 3000.

its got to do with the RB25DE engines having more torque at the lower rpm ranges or sumfin like that.

Thats completely normal.. my car sits at around 2500 at 100 (R33 25t manual)

EDIT- my old car (Mitsi Diamante) sat at 2200rpm at 100k and 2800-3000 at 180k. LOL. They are very comfy cruisers

My GTS25 sits at 3000rpm at 100k in 5th

The R33 comes standard with a 4.11:1 ratio diff. You should be sitting around 3000 @ 100km/h

Hmm interesting, I haven't yet to seen a GTS25 with a 4.11:1 ratio diff. All factory GTS25 manuals I"ve seen have a 4.3:1 ratio diff.

Easy way to tell what diff you have is by looking at the blue ID tag under the bonnet.

    • @GTSBoy This method was able to get readings of -10 to -2, so it looks like its monitoring.  Now I need to figure out why the vacuum on the line provided isn't alternating with manifold pressure.  I went with 2 lines that an RB25 tuner recommended but I'll get a longer hose and try directly off the back of the manifold.  He may have been used to OEM intake setups while I have a DBW setup that removed the MAF and IACV.
    • I work at a car detailing and tinting shop called Quark which gets all manner of German cars in usually (mainly due to a contract with Mercedes Benz Kita Osaka, BMW Nishinomiya and others) but every once in a while something special comes in, like a fully restored 1972 HS30 Nissan Fairlady 240ZG... The shop owner had immediately started applying film to the windows as soon as it was in the shop so the interior was completely covered in towels and plastic sheets. But I could get a few photos of the engine bay which was restored like new. Such an amazing car to see in pristine condition in Japan these days.
    • Was going to say the car pulls up nicely everywhere, especially going into that last long right hander before the main straight. Looks like a lot of fun.
    • Hey Dave, welcome aboard! Good to see another soon-to-be Stagea owner here. The wagons are awesome — plenty of space, still got that Skyline DNA, and loads of potential if you’re into mods. Definitely post up pics when you get it, everyone here loves seeing new builds. What model/year are you looking at?
