sid, i like the fact you get planes in your shots!!!

and that one from Xmetal..Very nice indeed...one of my flickr mates does these and he's our local king..30mins-1hr is not uncommon for these!!!

OK, for those of you wanting do try these night shots here are a few pointers..

1: use full batteries, nothing worse than sitting waiting for the shot and 2mins later you hear the lens shut!!!

2: Use Bulb...get a cord from e-blah or even a local camera store..there cheap.

3: get a tripod!! doesn't have to be $$$ (i use an Optex..cheap)

4: use some foreground object..if you can...

5: if you do find some foreground object..take a spotlight if your not close...damn hard to focus when its dark as!!!

6: some people do a test shot using high ISO and calculate the time of low iso shots..(i just shoot).

7: Gels, these are theatrical cellophane that you put over your flash head or torch (they dont wrinkle much) to then colour the object to highlight a usually boring bdlg.

try a PA/dj hire place, anyone who rents lights etc..(i got mine from a lamp replacement shop). and just play!!!

you probably already know these things, but some may not...meh..

recent gel shot...

edit: sid..i use a standard kit lens 18-50..if you play with you White Balance settings any fluros or street lights willcolour the obect in different light...play a bit!

this is what you get when setting for Tungsten when its actually the top flash instead...(the blue is the colour change instead if white)

Xmetal - thats awesome!

edit: Exposure time 4343seconds lol

thats like 1hour 12mins 23seconds! geewiz!

what remote did you use?

Bryn - link doesn't work..

I use the factory Canon cable release with locking shutter button - 50 smackas from CameraHouse. :P

There are 3rd party ones and also a Canon IR remote but I think the IR doesnt have lockdown.

dodgsun - great write up man :) Thanks for the info!!

I like taking 30 seconds exposures at a time. Feel more comfortable doing that than a really long exposure. But thats just my method i guess!! Plus i just let the camera do it.. I just come back an hour later or so.. In a way its the same method i guess!!

Looks like you get a lot of stars near your place!! I guess living in Sydney and pollution etc i wont see much :P

Ps i love that 2nd shot!! nice work!!

Mind if I copy this info and put it in the photo tips thread?

With this point:

I should say that manual focus is the only way by it - as in focusing in the dark!!

sl!m - go for it!!

sid - if its close enuff to use AF yeah but i use MF as i have sussed out my normal lens as to what is best for Infinity (not at the end it seems)!

Peta - i like the first shot, didnt really notice the smudge marks for a while.

Bryn - link doesn't work..

Hmm well i have no idea how to link to my facebook then lol, although, your on my facebook, so just check ya friends page and go to my album if ya want ;)

each SLR would have their own type of remote..

you should have part of your camera that has a few llittle plugs. on the 400d its below the mini USB slot, looks like a small headphone jack type hole to plug some thing in to.

the remote just does the same thing holding down the button does when you take a photo

though when you use one there is obviously less camera shake as you dont press down on the button on the camera you are just pressing a button on a remote

    • Ok thanks..that was my second question if i can somehow bypass this even with Nistune(that is all i have right now...aparat from stock ECU. So with some aftemarket it can by "bypassed" or make it work?  I know there is Link or Haltech (mainly used). We have ECUmaster here so i will gather some info about it.
    • Yes. You will need to get the original boost sensor and wire it in. That is.... if you plan to use a stock ECU - even a Nistuned ECU. The Nissan ECU will not operate correctly without it connected. And yes, it will do annoying stuff like you are experiencing. You will almost certainly be better off with some aftermarket ECU, than trying to hunt down rare sensors.
    • Ok so ABS/TCS is "not" the problem. Yeah i know now about the ABS with Nistune(i told that to the Nistune guy) but iam not 100% why or why i dont have ABS. ABS cube is in the engine (always has been) but i had braked couple of times rly hard and brakes just locked and scream. Does all Skylines have ABS cube? That boost sensor https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/367633-wtb-r34-gtt-turbo-pressure-sensor-pics-inside/ Is this it? I need to ask but i have a picture of engine bay and i do not see that (100% is not in that place) If i do not have this the car can do what mine is?(cutting around 4000 rpm) Here is the pic of my engine bay(only one i have) BUT i think i dont have that cuz loom was used from my RB20DE NEO and i know (obviously) that it does not have boost control or any wire to that...) so maybe that is the problem? (i dont know for 100% if that car where the engine is from had that)...but i dont have the loom from that
    • I'm with you here. It's either loom has an issue, OR, injectors are not functioning properly. It could even be they're just constantly dribbling, hence the wet, but not firing.
