Thinking of finally buying a GTR after many years deliberating but will only do so if my beloved DR30 goes to a good home and for the right price. We all know these machines have appreciated in value in recent years and this is probably one of the best in Australia. I was going to keep the DR and buy a GTR to put beside it but a new place and finances will prevent this. Dont really want to let go of the DR unless I could find something else exactly what I was looking for. Hence my swap list at the bottom of the post.

Ok in terms of swaps I would consider the following with cash adjustment your way:

Aussie delivered 1991 R32 GTR

1994 R32 V Spec II GTR

1997/1998 R33 Series 3 V Spec GTR

they must also be in comparable immaculate condition with low kms. Modifications ok but must be mild and in keeping with the originality of the car. Colour preference is black, silver, grey, white, blue, maroon. Definitely not purple! (sorry just personal choice :P )

Obviously would prefer NSW car as it would be an easier transaction.

New Year and thinking of another car (terrible New Years afflictions!). If no joy she remains in the garage.

Now done 111000 kms (only done 300 kms in the last 4 months!)

Swaps as per before but would also consider mint KGC10 or KGC110 GTR replica or mint RB powered 240Z/260Z with appropriate cash adjustments.

Got a good lead on an Aussie delivered GTR from a mate. I need to move fast on that one and will take $16k firm for the DR. She is currently getting all the fluids changed to keep everything fresh. If I miss out on the R32 I will take the DR off the market.

cheers

Now regoed until Feb 2010 and had all the fluids changed. Aircon was also regassed and suspension tweaked. I am thinking of a change in direction and considering a tarmac rally car. The DR is too nice to do that and so it is still available. Chuck me a reasonable offer and I will consider it.

cheers

Will accept $15k. Thanks for your interest.

hey there...

is the engine farily standard??

any idea of power output?

No engine work. Only change is the 3 inch exhaust cat back. It has been recently serviced with all the fluids changed including gear box oil, clutch fluid etc. No idea of output, prob pretty much standard power of around 150kw but in a lightweight DR they are certainly quick enough.

$15k firm. Rego till January 2010. Absolutely nothing to spend. I have my eye on a nice tarmac rally machine which I hope to settle the deal on in a few weeks.

My DR stock standard with a full 3" from turbo exhaust did 119rwkw so I'd say it would be around there if not a little lower due to standard dump and front pipe.

Always wondered what they would put out at the wheels...cheers.

Car is going on Carpoint this weekend. If you want a usable classic with no faults and show winning condition, here is your opportunity.

My new beastie has now arrived and whilst I have access to my mates garage to store the DR30 I dont want to wear out my welcome long term. It is now on carpoint but the asking price there is not reflective of what I sell it to a genuine Skyline enthusiast. PM or give me a call if you are interested.

cheers

Any engine pics?

Cheers.

The only pic I have is when I bought it over 3 years ago. It is a bit cleaner than this now but you get the idea.

I not really sure on rego requirements in Victoria. My golden rule has always to buy a car in my own state to avoid those hassles.

Nevertheless, it has import improval (TIC sticker under the bonnet) and had an engineers certificate lodged with the NSW RTA when it was imported (i.e australian spec seat belts, side intrusion bars fitted etc). Everything works so a RWC should be no problem. The only thing that would need to be done for a fresh engineers approval in Victoria (if required) would be to re fit the child restraint harness bolts in the rear parcel shelf (I removed them when I put in the new parcel shelf as my kids are old enough now).

I suggest you contact VicRoads and ask them as I would hate for it to go pear shaped!!

cheers

    • I got back to Japan in January and was keen to get back on track as quickly as possible. Europe is god-awful for track accessibility (by comparison), so I picked up a first-gen GT86 in December just to have something I could jump into right away. The Skyline came over in a container this time and landed in early January. It was a bit battered after Europe, though—I refused to do anything beyond essential upkeep while it was over there. The clutch master cylinder gave out, and so did the power steering. I didn’t even bother changing the oil; it was the same stuff that went in just before I left Japan the first time. Naughty. Power steering parts would’ve cost double with shipping and taxes, so knowing I’d be heading back to Japan, I just postponed it and powered through the arm workout. It took a solid three months to get the car back on the road. Registration was a nightmare this time around. There were a bunch of BS fees to navigate, and sourcing parts was a headache. I needed stock seats for shaken, mistakenly blew 34k JPY on some ENR34 seats—which, of course, didn’t fit—then ended up having the car’s technical sheet amended to register it as a two-seater with the Brides. Then there’s the GT86. Amazing car. Does everything I want it to do. Parts are cheap, easy to find, and I don’t care what anyone says—it’s super rewarding to drive. I’ve done a few basic mods: diff ratio, coilovers, discs, pads, seat, etc. It already had a new exhaust manifold and the 180kph limiter removed, so I assume it’s running some kind of map. I’ve just been thrashing it at the track non-stop—mostly Fuji Speedway now, since I need something with higher speed after all that autobahn time. The wheels on the R34 always pissed me off—too big, and it was a nightmare getting tires to fit properly under the arches. So I threw in the towel and bought something that fits better. Looks way cleaner too (at least to me)—less hotboy, less attention-seeking. Still an R34, though. Now for future plans. There are a few things still outstanding with the car. First up, the rear subframe needs an overhaul—that’s priority one. Next, I need to figure out an engine rebuild plan. No timeline yet, but I want to keep it economical—not cutting corners, just not throwing tens of thousands at a mechanic I can barely communicate with. And finally, paint. Plus a bit of tidying up here and there.
    • Nope, needed to clearance under the bar a little with a heat gun, a 1/2" extension as the "clearancer", and big hammer, I was aware of this from the onset, they fit a 2.0 with this intake no problems, but, the 2.5 is around 15mm taller than a 2.0, so "clearancing" was required  It "just" touched when test fitting, now, I have about 10mm of clearance  You cannot see where it was done, and so far, there's no contact when giving it the beans Happy days
    • It's been a while since I've updated this thread. The last year (and some) has been very hectic. In the second-half of 2024 I took the R34 on a trip through Germany, Italy, France and Switzerland - it was f*cking great. I got a little annoyed with the attention the car was getting around Europe and really didn't drive it that much. I could barely work on the car since I was living in an inner-city apartment (with underground parking). During the trip, the car lost power steering in France - split hose - and I ended up driving around 4,000kms with no power steering.  There were a few Nurburgring trips here and there, but in total the R34 amassed just shy of 7,000kms on European roads. Long story short, I broke up with the reason I was transferred to Europe for and requested to be moved back to Japan. The E90, loved it. It was a sunk cost of around EUR 10,000 and I sold it to a friend for EUR 1,500 just to get rid of it quickly. Trust me, moving countries f*cking sucks and I could not be bothered to be as methodical as I was the first time around.
    • I assume clearances were all a-okay?
