ouch that is a pretty heavy hit

IMO there would have been far too much force required to do that in a single blow by hand.

i reckon someone in a 1 tonner ute with a high tray or flat bed truck back into it at a slight angle.

That sux man. I've had people do hit'n-runs 3 times on my Peugeot 205 GTI. At least all panels on your car can be replaced. Peugeot stopped making the rear red reflector strip about 10 years ago. They can go for $1000 now-a-days for one that says Peugeot 205 GTI.

Definitely a bar of some sort. You can see the bar mark clearly. Looks like some one has swung down at the boot.

Must have been a damn hard hit or the bar had some serious weight behind it for it to push the whole boot lid up. Probably hit it so hard it hurt the blokes hands which is why there's no further damage anywhere else.

yeah i agree! the dent looks like it's been dug into and push rather than hit by a bar

You'll be surprised how the hit of a bar can push metal around. Especially if its a nice solid metal bar.

Due to the angle of the impact point (that is clearly a metal rod of some sort) it looks as if some one has swung a bar at a slight off centre angle from above their head.

The angle of the impact point is what makes it hard for myself to believe some one has backed in to it.

Definitely a strange one.

    • Does it also misfire equally when revving?   Josh is very correct in what you should do. The coilpack harness wiring loom itself is a known problem due to its age and the number of heat cycles it has gone through. Throwing parts at a vehicle to diagnose the issue isn't a smart or good way to do it. Secondly, you may have a bad coil pack, you pop replacements in, they fix that issue, but messing with the harness breaks it, so the issue persists. So now you think "well it wasn't the coil packs" and have to continue chasing your tail, potentially swapping back in your shit coil packs and returning the good ones (yes, I've seen people do this because 'it wasn't the problem' and they want to save money). And suddenly, you've got two issues with the same symptoms...   Diagnose, don't use the spare parts shotgun.
