Just looked that link to the SA rego rules and :

Unless you hold a current interstate registration certificate in exactly the same name as the intended South Australian registration

To me this has me covered - Cause I own the car and have current rego in my name - as long as I keep it in my name - which I will, then no inspection required.

The inspection is only required (by my reading) for people who purchase a car from another state, from someone else - This would be to maintain the car's identity.

Welcome (soon) to our humble little town.

Technically all you need is an ID inspection, BUT if they suspect the car is modified they can send it for a full inspection. I dont think re-shelling is required (as mentioned), BUT you will want to have the car stock looking.

Im not 100% sure, but I believe if you owned and registered the car (in your own name) interstate and move here there is no need for an inspection, just visit a motor reg office and pay for SA plates and Rego sticker.

check out http://www.transport.sa.gov.au/registratio...icles/index.asp and give an office a call to confirm the prices (may be cheaper to stay with NSW rego, but RWC will be a problem unless you go back for a holiday).

I've transferred two cars from interstate - one from VIC (n14 sss) when I moved here, and one from NSW (r34 gt-t). In both cases they were registered to me, with the same name/etc details on them.

In neither case did the people at Transport SA need to go out and look at the cars or do any sort of physical inspection - I did, of course, have all of the appropriate documentation, registration papers, etc with me, and the cars were both in my name, and everything matched up.

Anyways - hope that tidbit helps :)

Yes - sure am. Got to get it back from all the mechanical first. As you can see it's muti-coloured blue/silver.

The plan was that I was going to spray it myself with the help from a mate who knows what he is doing.

But if I come to Adelaide, the girlies cuz is a spray painter - COOL !

Hi B-Man, quick bit of info' you.

My work posted me from NSW to SA back in 2001, at the time my NSW rego papers listed me as the owner and all details were to stay the same - other than a new SA rego' number.

Regardless of the above I was still required to present the car to the Sturt inspection station - I elected Sturt as it seemed the logical choice for a Vehicle Identity Inspection. The Sturt inspector/s still double checked the VIN details and engine number to verify all was in order.

Even though the sole purpose of the inspection was to verify the car's identy, the inspector still cast an eye over a few of the basics - pod filter was okay, intercooler was fine - but there were numerous things he didn't check. In the end the only issue was my 'illegal' genuine Momo Race steering wheel. The wheel was purchased new from Revolution Racegear and was indeed legal according to the details stamped on the back of the wheel and ADRs. I didn't bother to complain, I just swapped the wheel over as request and an hour later I was good to go.

One point of note: I wore my work uniform - Air Force - to the inspection station and treated the inspector as I would expect to be treated in return.

As an expat NSWman I took a while to adjust to the slower big country town feel of Adelaide and SA in general, but now I really like it here.

The lack of regular drag strip is the biggest downside from a motorsport perspective, hopefully this will be rectified in the coming months/year. Plenty of decent workshops, performance parts vendors and automotive events/shows etc.

As for choice of locations to relocate to, it's best to take a visit and see for yourself, that's what I did.

the tap water is TERRIBLE

if someone mentions 'the bay' they mean Glenelg, and the 'malls balls' is the meeting spot in rundle mall (sculpture with 2 balls)

oh and the drive over from Canberra sucks arse

B-Man You will find Adelaide very quiet coming from Sydney,but will get used to it..The people are very friendly and nice and welcoming! the hills roads are awesome!!

Balfours custard tarts are the best and I cant find them here in Sydney ;)

There are NUMEROUS threads on both the upper and lower class suburbs of Adelaide, so unless you live here, please don't comment. i live in Salisbury north, one of the "scum suburbs" of Adelaide, never had any problems, had a front window broken twice on our house and egged a couple of times, but thats because of a cock from high school who hates me for no reason and gets bored at night. Security cameras FTW

yeah and it doesn't have that funny taste that bottled water has sometimes.

you just don't know if the bottles were sitting on the back of a truck in full sun for a few hours............I'd rather drink algae from my fish tank than bottled water.

    • Guys since i bought r33 gts25t coupe 1994 automatic a/t(manual swap 350z gearbox)  all i got is problems, always problems. Lets start with that when i turn key into ignition(ON) fuel pump doesnt always works. Sometimes i have to turn key twice Off/on/off/on until it primes. Its new, dw300 - 340lph. My gearbox broke so i did gearbox swap, install different intake manifold, injectors and i take pipes. Car was sitting in garage for more than half a year. I did assembly all not that long ago and when i turn ignition cant hear prime. All of sudden it stopped working. Theres many videos on YouTube how to make relay mod on r33 straight from battery so i did and it doesnt work! 😰 30 - battery positive  87 - positive from fuel pump to relay 85, 86 - one of two wires from original fuel pump wires(light blue, grey) and it didn’t work. so I check on ignition and took original BLUE relays wires from trunk, next to fuses. (I believe it’s IGN+ and ECU pin 18. it didn’t work…  tried connecting (IGN+ from og relay) and (ECU 104 from 1of4 FPCM wires) to my new relay 85/86 and it didn’t work.  I unplug FPCM. Didn’t work. im thinking what’s wrong   fuel pump is working, if I leave IGN+ on 85 and 86 straight to ground it works but it’s just nonstop. Since it getting constant 12v after key in ON. light blue wire gives me 6-8v.  so how this should be connected? What causing ECU not giving — on pin? Or I did sth wrong and that’s why it doesn’t work? I need negative signal on ECU that control fuel pump. What this should be?
    • You can use your VIN to look up the factory part number somewhere like amayama, and then look to order new if necessary. https://www.amayama.com/en/genuine-catalogs/nissan Depending on price you might want to rebuild instead. @GTSBoy I had an interesting insight into US market parts when the Titan rear calipers were sticking. New calipers were dirt cheap, about 20% more than a rebuild kit....they are just considered throw away maintenance items

    • Lots of votes for driving onto a plank first; that is the quickest way I've found, 25mm is enough for my case but that will vary by car It also depends where you are going for. On the 32 I can get to the rear diff with my floor jack if I do that end first, and get it up on stands. Then I lift the front from either front tow hook as high as needed, also onto stands. Sometimes I need a small lift on the other tow hook to get it level enough If I do the front first I can't get to the rear diff because of the angle of the car Other options are getting to the front mount of the rear subframe from in front of the wheel (if only lifting one side, or just do both which is a bit of a pain compared to one lift from the diff), or also the gearbox cross member mount on the driver's side if you are  just trying to lift the driver's side.
