livo
I need some speakers for the new car. R32 GTST 2 door. Has the stock ones in there atm im thinking, judging by the crap sound coming through. Ive been given a quote by braddon car stereo to install and they want 400.00 labour not including what speakers i want. Apparently the skyline needs spacers in the front and a rear shelf made up or something. he said the seat belt something or other goes through the speakers in the rear hence the new shelf needed. i want 6 inch in the front and rear and nothing special.....was looking at MTX or pioneer...... anyone done it themsleves (thats what i was hoping to do) or know of a good place thats done skylines before.!!!! cheers..... astrotristan
bud, a mate and i re-did mine about two weeks ago, we discovered that when the speakers where only being held by one screw.. so we just got some rlly thin ply wood and using a jigsaw made our own brackets so the speakers would fit snug, and screwed in with more than one screw haha we made a template out of cardboard and then put it against the ply wood - worked a treat Edited October 28, 2008 by astrotristan Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/242092-audio/#findComment-4222961 Share on other sites
Bullet32
Ive done a couple of stereo installs in Skylines before and its no easy job, you have to make up custom mounts for the doors (usually out of ply wood or MDF)... Its a time consuming job and very fiddly. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/242092-audio/#findComment-4222972 Share on other sites
ZCR
i had bdl in fyshwick do mine, 6.5" focals in the front and 6.5" eclipse 3 ways in the rear, i don't think they charged too much but then again i got a bit done at the same time Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/242092-audio/#findComment-4223563 Share on other sites
Gus-
what model??? i would not reccommend bdl at all. my mate got some focals in his font doors. expensive speakers...and they didn't put the trim seals back on properly...both speakers had watermarks on them plus crossovers weren't good. sure they replaced them...but it's the principle yeah? my pick would be the place in phillip. us guys at work can get cheap systems from the kenwood rep and installed through them. all the installs ive seen come out of there have been really good and ill be going to them to see what they can do about front speakers Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/242092-audio/#findComment-4223924 Share on other sites
GTRKat
I've always had my work done by Elite Sound and Vision in Belco and the guys there have always done an awesome job. Bullet32
i like the DIY approach. +1 Just set yourself a weekend to get stuck in to it and with a bit of common sense, the right tools and some patience its not that hard... Just time consuming. You'll save hundreds of dollars if you DIY. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/242092-audio/#findComment-4224899 Share on other sites

TiTAN
undo all the screws in it. and lift. there will be 1 or 2 in the handle the rest are along the bottom of the door trim from memory. Bullet32
Be careful not to break the trim plugs that hold the door trim on once you have all of the screws out. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/242092-audio/#findComment-4226024 Share on other sites
