ive seen it in Street Machine mag not that long ago..... the amount of work that goes into a classic car is , to most, un comprehendable. owning the torana i had was a very good lesson, i sold it in fear of a) it going missing, b) getting hit by some one and c) worrying about it all the time. un like a lot of newer cars, you cant go to a shop and pick up panels easily, most need custom work to fit and others are not available.

now owning a skyline i tend not to worry if i leave it some where, coz at the end of the day it can be replaced. :P

yeah I wish I kept my R/T 6 Pack Hemi Pacer and restored it....very rare now.

Paid $1700 for it when it was just 3 years old

Customline 9" rear end, triple webers and bored out to take 327ci Chev Pistons.

Hmmm, memories :P

I even had a handicapped run against the old famous Shotgun (only the oldies would remember that wheel standing Ford) back in the day when you were allowed to run up against the Pro Stockers.

Hey i remember SHOWGUN i haven't heard that name in awhile .

I have a GTR and worked hard to get it..I am not stuck up and I love the feel of it..For me they are a "unicorn" :( I just dont like bulls**t, people shouldn't think they have to talk it up to think you will listen and think you're cool..

I have met all sorts in the car community..I don't care what you have I will still talk to you. I am a big fan and just love motorsport!!

P.s I do kind of get annoyed at the BS that boys like to talk to girls at times as some think that girls don't know anything about the car they own, I am polite but after think "that was a waste of my time" :O

Hey i remember SHOWGUN i haven't heard that name in awhile .

It was definitely SHOTGUN Shane............a Ford XB Coupe Pro Stocker owned by Kevin and Greg Flaherty.

Greg died almost 20 years ago and his missus used to frequent one of the pubs where I used to do security back in the day.

greg flaherty

gee thats a name i havent heard for a few yrs was killed comming back from interstate bringing back a new sprintcar or parts from memeory killed with one of the francombe girls . i remember standing on the infield at speedway park for a minutes silence when that happened . damm times go by too fast

na Pete there was a R33 getting around with SHOWGUN plates

lol steve, the R32 wasn't even invented yet when SHOTGUN was famous, let alone the R33!

Correct.........and I think his missus name was Tarrin

i try and acknowledge all skylines.. usually get snobbed by 33s, n 34s coz they think there beta..

i always hav a look coz ther all different, sum new 2 look at everytime..

n id much rutha ackowledge a skyline ova a datsun or sumfing.

i was thinking about this the other day, if i see any skyline, any at all, ill drive past and wave. usually get nothing in return!i also wave at any import just a casual thumbs up or a wave, shows almost a rep for sharing the same interests! think it should be an import code of practice to share a wave, acknowledgement! generally speaking you dont know what someone has under their bonnet be it a gtst, ex. again chad, stock looking 32, gtst bonnet, no signs of gts4, with an rb26 under it! respect other people i say and life would be a better place! end rant

...respect other people i say and life would be a better place! end rant

that can be said across the board for anything when you let a car into peak traffic it gets returned to you later, if everyone calmed down when driving and let a commodore in sometimes we will all get there safely and not have to boil the blood

yea but there still is the image of all import drivers being wanks, as we import drivers think most commodore drivers are wanks! so its a win loose battle, but getting off topic there, still i think rep another import and show some love, with awave or something

I had yet another commodore wanker come flying up my ass the other night, this time on mcintyre rd, changed into left lane and he followed me, then floored it around me. wtf is their problem? it happens alot.

    • That was the first session so not a lot to take from the day. It was low 20s ambient and the coolant had got to 110 (and obviously had some pressure!) so that still needs to be addressed. I haven't downloaded the data yet but will. I had refilled the auto trans with Redline DT6 because it claimed the best viscosity I could find at 100o. It wasn't really long enough to get a good feel for that; while the trans got to 100o in the session it still wasn't shifting crisply as I hoped. I think I'll try a few more sessions before judging. No steering motor overheat but I'd hope not in only 1 session! But finally the suspension; it was night and day over the standard stuff and the car was a couple of seconds quicker on the same crappy tyres, which is a huge difference. I'll stick with that and get some sway bars and a mechanical diff sorted too and see how that all goes together
    • I guess it’s partially a compromise of how my car is used, wanting to be able to switch from drift to grip with track side on-car adjustment. Also partially with the way the knuckles are set there is more static camber but less dynamic camber gain.
    • OK, so update from the track day on Friday It was a classic "an unfortunate series of events'. There were a few cars around and when i checked my mirror coming out of the fish hook I notice some smoke from the rear of mine. Looked again and it was getting much worse, I figured I'd blown a turbo or something to got off it and pulled off the racing line. However.... since it is a left hairpin into a right kink, I was on the inside of the next corner. There was a car passing me on the left and a big drop off over the ripple strip on the right......and someone had knocked the witch's hat that was on the apex about 1m onto the track. So, between those 3, I decided to mow down the cone and not damage my car/the other car. Right choice, but surprising result.  The car decided the cone was a small pedestrian so it blew the rear bonnet hinges up to protect their head in the upcoming person to car impact....I didn't see that coming and like an airbag deployment it happened super fast. Straight into the pits from there, everything was driving fine but it became clear it was a coolant leak not smoke, it was billowing up onto the windscreen. Onto the trailer and home. I'll do a separate thread about the repair (once I work out what it is ), but the immediate problem was the bonnet wouldn't open because the front was pinched onto the front bar and would not release. Ultimately we unbolted the hinge from the bonnet, pulled it back a little and it released from the front OK. "There's your problem", the top radiator hose had popped off at the radiator.
    • Yeah that looks like great caster, but I'd suggest trying less front camber some time and seeing if it helps with braking without reducing mid corner speed too much
    • I ended up setting the rear 5mm higher than normal to give some clearance.  My plan is to run the least camber I can in the rear which I think with the extra width is going to need to be -1.75 to -2.00° just to get clearance.  Guards have been rolled and pulled as much as they can/I would be wanting to.  front has the Acostal knuckle with the KPI change and the drop etc. So should be okay with the existing settings I have run with AR1s etc Front: Toe total -2mm(1mm out each side) Caster +7.5° Camber -3.8° Ackerman +15°
