hi guys.. i hope i could get some help with technical stuff here..

i have an RB20DET in my cefiro..

using dastek piggyback and vg30 turbo with fmic.

when i rev through to 4500 it seems stuck.. it wont go further..

engine's got enough boost but it seems to act like its on a launch control..

im pretty sure i put my rev limit on 7500 =S

and its really hard to start it when cold =O

the rpm just keeps dropping down.. and its not stable.. feels like the engine gonna stop any second..

wasnt a comfortable ride at all =S

really need help guys >.<

ive changed my fuel pump, oils, sparks... seems that im still having the same problem =S

theres nothing wrong with my afm... i checked it.. no boost leak either.. well so far i checked....

what is the TPS thou?

could it be the coil? coz i f**ked up the socket.. dont know where to get them... =S

thanks guys.. much appreciated

Certainly could be a coil, if you've got coil issues fix them ASAP.

TPS = throttle position sensors. It sits on the side of the throttle body. If it's misaligned or damaged it will cause all sorts of weirdness,

Coils sound like a good starting point though if you know you have a damaged one.

Good luck and let us know how you go.

hmmm.. ive checked it.. i think i have a boost leak.. i dented my intercooler..

and i have a crack on one of my coil..

oh.. where can i get the coil sockets thou?? how can i substitute them? like, aftermarket coil cables or something..

thanks bro, u guys really help a lot =D

Boost leak shouldn't stop you revving past 4500 but stranger things have happened.

What do you mean by coil socket? Do you mean the top part of the coil module or the long part that sticks into the rocker cover? Any cracks = bad but you can temporarily tape them up with elec tape (there is a thread on SAU about it, search for "damaged coils" "tape coil" or something to that effect. It's a pretty common thing to extend coil life.

If it's busted bad you basically have to replace it. You can use a stock one, or a new stock set or if you have power in mind you can swap them out for a set of splitfire coils whichn even with minimal mods, do give a power gain.

Cheers

i think i found the problem.. theres a tiny hose running through the throttle body.. and the engineer sez it needs to be blocked.. it was causing the afm to misread everything.. so it felt like losing boost..

i cleaned the injectors and fixed the coil.. my 2nd coil was a bit melted.. =O but its still working fine =D

hope it runs pretty well after everything is assembled =)

thanks guys

Sounds good mate, be sure to confirm if that was the cause so this thread has an answer for anyone else searching.

Better yet take a pic and show us the pipe if that is confirmed as the problem.

Cheers

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! my engine is working normally now =D.....

so the story were, not a boost leak, not ignition problem.. its all in my dastek unichip wiring!!!!! i took it all out.. the chip and the turbo module.. and its all working fine now.. really smoooth...

im aiming for haltech instead.. so i wont be messing around with lots of sensors anymore.. it gives me too much headache..

phew.. after all that sweat going to the workshop everyday.. finally paid off ^^

hope it works for other ppl as well..

    • Thanks for doing that Duncan! Makes you a good person in my books. We don't get kangaroos or wombats here. But we have bats and it's similar. AFAIK it's often the mums with a baby attached that get hit because they drop lower when starting from a tree. If you hit an animal, check on it. https://www.ifaw.org/au/resources/wildlife-rescue-app An app to get the closest wildlife rescue contact.
    • My dream is also to have a proper hoist, but I don't think it will ever happen. My quickjack is probably as close as I'll ever get, it really is very good though.
    • Yeah we keep on in the dailies, it is pretty poor how many animals get hit and the driver leaves without checking....have saved a couple of little ones over the years. Bit of a gruesome job though, pouches generally need to be cut open because they are so tight and often the joey doesn't realise mum is gone so they are still locked onto the teat. I checked the modules in front of the DS wheel where an oil cooler should go.... There is the radar unit - that can go for race use) One of the 2 HX water pumps, the silver cylinder. That needs to be kept but might be able to be relocated But the bad news, the big computer mounted vertically in front of the wheel (blocking any potential air exit) is the electric steering computer. That is required until/unless i do a hydraulic steering conversion, and in CAD based modern car design it is not like I can just pop a big unit like that somewhere else (plus the loom would be too short anywhere else too). So, the passenger side is OK to clear out (just use a smaller washer reservoir, potentially elsewhere), but the DS no beuno
    • Well, all the best with the new camry It was interesting to hear about the UK process, it is generally a lot more streamlined here with a shipping agent looking after all the import side (noting the exact final price can still be a surprise.....) and I've used a few different brokers on the japan (or US) side, and never had any trouble with any of them....luck of the draw I guess. You mentioned you didn't get the auction sheet (understandable since you bought it from a dealer, not auction), but I always try and get hold of that because they are pretty thorough. I've imported 2x R grade vehicles over the years and both were fine, repairs in Japan are pretty thorough compared to here in Oz.
    • BTW I measured the jack I have, it is 70mm at the saddle but you only have about 700 until it returns to 150mm high at the cylinder so it is good but no magic bullet.
