hey lads,

Soon i will be putting a series 1 rb25 into my cefiro with the following mods attached.

intercooler, air filter, 850cc high impedence injectors, 040 pump, fuel press reg, hks head gasket, arp bolts, spool rods, acl forged pistons, king bearings, ss high mount, gt3082r (3040) with a .62 rear, profec b spec 2, 40mm ex gate.

Now i am unsure on what computer to go with. this may have been a topic already covered on here and i did a bit of a search but with not satisfactory results. I want to avoid using an air flow meter and im happy to spend up to about 1500 for the computer. I have had people suggest the Autronic, hks fcon is, power fc, haltech. im sorta stumped and would love to get some advice from dudes who have been through this process. any help much appreciated.

Cheers guys.

any particular reason u prefer to run without an afm? otherwise id just say emanage ultimate or power fc ( although power fc u can run MAP), i luv my autronic but it probably will be over kill no need to spend that much.

ben...

Godzilla Motorsport is the dealer for Vi-PEC in Brisbane...contact Mark and he will look after you with both supply of computer, tuning and advice.

The HKS Fcon iS has optional MAP sensor capabilities. I think they are very competitive on price too compared to the likes of the TRUST Emanage and Haltech ECU's in this class.

Give Alex from GT Auto Garage in Brisbane a call. www.gtautogarage.com.au

depends on which tuner you go for

but for the $$ vi-pec or haltech seems very popular

both have antilag/launch control/boost control etc etc

haltech is more pricey though

but i think a power fc d-jetro (map sensor) will be around 2k these days?

(if they make it for your car)

my votes going to go for the wolf v500. but i upgraded from a power fc to one and it was the best thing i've done.

little bit over your price but well worth the cash.

what car?

what power level?

and what exactly was the big improvement?

:P

i got quoted $1400 from gt auto for the hks unit. the issue is not everyone can tune that ecu and i supose that is the same for a few of the options i am limiting myself to. i dont know im still torn on what to get.

I would say. Go and find a reputable tuner that you can and will trust with your car and feel they are the right shop for you. Speak with them and ask them what they would recommend as they are the ones tuning it. I got on here and asked similar questions and they all told me power FC. i went with a microtech as my tuner has told me it will work and he has told me if it does not work he will replace it with something else free of charge. I trust him and he likes working with them over most other things. It depends on there preference. You might pick something take it somewhere and then we will see the horror thread about how you have to pay for them to learn a new product. Makes sense to me

    • The drop shipping isn't the issue I believe, the issue is that a US business is getting stuff manufactured in China, and then selling them, this gets reported in their taxation, thus, I believe, the US government still wants its pound of flesh Whether it is the 10% tariff, which I'm happy to pay to play with, or the 115%, which would be a deal breaker Hopefully this gets sorted sooner rather than later as impatient Mark is impatient...LOL
    • Amazing build thread mate. I wish mine was still on here too. Love the seats. How did they wear overtime? Great to see you are still working on it bud.
    • Drop shipping isn't hard for them to sort out...
    • I bought it for a forever car bud. Was really lucky. It's one owner and kept fully serviced and immaculate. Kills me to modify it but will keep it to the engine and GB only. Body will stay stock and intend to keep all the parts. It's a Silver with factory Altia kit. My mate and I are building it together in the garage. It's currently an auto and just bought new manual GB and parts from Michael at Kudos. They've been great.
    • So, as for the intake parts, part supply/delivery is currently problematic  As the parts are not made in the US (probably China) new tariffs are making things slow to happen, thanks Trump The joint I am getting the intake parts from, FAB9, are in the US, typically they are delivered to the US then sent out from there to, well, here, or wherever  FAB9 are currently looking at shipping directly from the supplier to avoid tariff hits,  so now I'm waiting until that little chestnut gets sorted out My impatience is blossoming nicely
