My Cedric doesnt have a dvd player.

It's got a DVD Reader for the SAT NAV.

So to answer your question no it doesn't.

I'm sure you can buy a cheap dvd player and shove it in the spare gap in the glove box and plug it into one of the vid in plugs in the back of the screen. But besides that I'm not sure what you can do.

I had a few weeks recently where I could do without my car, so I pulled the springs out and sent them to King Springs to have custom ones made up. I didn't want full on stiff springs, nor did I want to go too low. I asked for the new springs to drop the car by about 30mm and be about 30% stiffer. The front suspension is a bit of a pain - like my old Z31 300ZX, the strut and hub are one piece. Makes them a bit heavy when you're doing the job alone.

Rear springs were as easy as undoing the outer control arm bolt and letting the arm down with the jack. You need all of ten minutes to do both rear springs.

King sent me rears off another car that sat right in and are held captive with the suspension at full travel. Front springs were custom and still needed the spring compressor to fit to the strut. The result was good and the springs should now be available to order from King Springs. They don't make the car roll much less in corners, so keep that in mind. Perfect for my needs though. The car still rides really nicely considering the 20" wheels that are on the car.

Hey guys long time reader first time poster in this thread.

Anyone know anything about this car : http://aus-vip.com/index.php?/topic/1040-1...-gloria-ultima/

Is it Midnight x from this forums car?

im honestly thinking about flying up and driving it back, pending what insurance is going to cost me...

Edited by mastadd

yes i have seen this car, very nice, very clean, its a great car, always looked after, such a smooth car to drive. If i didn't already have one i would buy it.

Worth the trip, when you see it and drive it you will buy it.

mastadd - trust me. it is cheaper and easier to NOT do that.

think about it - flights, petrol, motel stays, food, etc etc costs all add up

plus you have to take time off work etc and organise it all...

it's easier and works out about the same cost to just get the car freighted over... i'm currently getting two cars complied in VIC and i am opting to friehgt them over because it works out CHEAPER than getting flights etc.

and if i may add - what could possibly go wrong with these?? :(

imports are sooooo easy to fix (i think they are at least)

Thanks for the reply mate,

i just cant bring myself to buy a car without having time to at least have a look at it in person hence why i haven't imported one myself, i guess i will have to wait intill some more end up in Vic!

Just for future reference whats the Cloth interior like? what kind of material is it? it looks strange almost very ruff looking

i dunno about THIS car - but MY car - the for sale photos the interior looks CRAP.

it looks DIRTY it looks tired it looks BALLS.

in real life it's neat clean and plush...

soooo hopefully if it looks rough in pictures that doesn't transcend into real life...

and - oh yeah i forgot that some people think it's important to look at a car and kick the tyres to make sure they're pumped up :(

(that's sarcasm - take a chance! )

Have polished headlights. RE: imports being easy to fix - my car needs a new driver's window regulator. $130+ GST from Nissan. Yes, I will have to wait a couple of weeks, but it's half the price of a regulator for an Avalon!.

I flew from Sydney to Brisbane to buy my car, but I already had my mind made up. As long as there was nothing obviously wrong with it - like a blown turbo or big end knock, I was happy to take the car. To be honest, I didn't even need to drive it. Sat in the passenger seat for a few minutes and knew it was all good. And sure enough, over a year later, the only thing that's gone wrong is the window regulator and the odometer globe.

I'm a mechanic and I've seen many newer australian cars with less K's have tonnes more problems.

I had a few weeks recently where I could do without my car, so I pulled the springs out and sent them to King Springs to have custom ones made up.

Hey mate,

what did the custom springs set you back? wouldn't mind a set if they where another 15-20mm lower all round than your custom ones...

Yayyy for Kermit :D

Hi All,

farrkk knows lol yes its what i was told by hooleys in joondalup... he also mentioned that i cant just purchase a micro processor i need the whole dash unit.... but i was told diffrent today by chris rogers from audi express in brisbane who sounds like he knows his stuff, i can get ahold of a new circuit board for $500 but i dont know if this is what needs replacing... and ive now found my battery isnt charging / holding its charge and i dont know if this has anything to do with the dash blowing up, im starting to think it does cus the bloody alternator is running at 15.4Volts! although you think the sparky would have picked up on this? The fuzes are all fine, sparky "repaired" some burnt tracks in the dash but that was all he could find other then this blown "micro processor"..... i dont know where to start.....

    • Seat of the pants assessment of the new intake: The car is way less "doughy" when hitting the loud pedal, especially off idle when stopped or in traffic, I did use a cheapo lazer thermal thingo to measure the temp around where the pod filter got its air, it was between 55 - 60°C, in saying this the car was shut off and not moving, so the OEM intake pipe was not supplying any fresh air to where the pod was when the car was at least moving A weird bonus was induction noise on the throttle in the cabin increased a bit,  I was worried that I was actually going to lose some of that induction noise I love so much, outside though, when I got the daughter to do a WOT drive by pass for me, the induction noise has increased alot when on the throttle, not quite ITB doort, but well up there I'm extremely happy with the results and have been exploring the country roads in the region  As for house mods: 1.New front fence is up and is awesome, it really upgraded how the joint looks from the street, and the added security is nice 2. Electricians have replace some interior lights, and with more lighting in the garage, a few new motion detecting lights out the front above the garage, front room, and at the front door, which I have already found heaps helpful coming and going, also now has fancy pants CCTV all round the house The only hold point for power though is the solar and batteries due to supply issues, although this will happen over the next few weeks 3. I have done a heap of landscaping out the front and I'm almost ready to do a new small retaining wall with some nice blocks to replace the brick and cemented in rocks around the raised garden beds cemented in river stone "was the fashion at the time" the house was built. I currently have a pallet of retaining wall blocks and 2 bulka bags of 20mm blue metal to replace the wood chip that is in the raised garden beds around the house 4. I now have 3 big raised garden beds for out the back to grow some vegetables, about 70cm high, 200cm long and 100cm wide 5. My 2 compost bins are already pretty full with brown, green and kitchen waste from the landscaping I'vedone so far, but they will probably take a few months to break down, so anything else that gets chopped, trimmed, and kitchen waste will just start filling the base of the raised garden beds to about 30cm before I start throwing 40cm of good compost, and stuff, for the vegetables to grow in, I'll need a few ton of compost and soil, but the local supplier can sent me bulka bags of the stuff Basically the logs, wood chips and a few strategically placed rocks for drainage, will give the beds some good organic materials down low to break down over time, and they will hold moisture during the warmer months to save the water in my big arse water tank if we don't get alot of rain So, all in all, the car and house mods are going well, and I'm really enjoying being retired, I sleep in too 0700 and slowly plod around inside until I feel like actually doing anything, and only work in the yard for as long as want, which has actually been alot over the last few weeks,  although when you look at it, it seems that not a huge amount of work has been done,  until I look at the before I started the work pics Happy days and good times indeed
    • hahaha yeah. Plan is to get side skirts and probably just rear pods. But going to do them one-by-one. I've got a set that I really like from RHDJapen, but that one isn't shipped to AU. So need to find someone who can get it for me
    • Here's an idea, answer the questions I asked you as they are trying to work out WHY the LSD will be binding up in a straight line.
    • You haven't driven many modern cars then have you? Most of them have sfa steering feel with their stupid electric bullshit steering systems.
