IMO

just let ur car warm up. thats all I do. and havnt had a problem yet. (touch wood), i think you would only need this in really cold climates. also comes down to the type of oil you are using, and i would imagine you would be using some full or semi synthetic type of oil so you should be ok.

my recommendations for track work or at least your first outing

- turn the boost down, turn it down a few PSI - youll still make tons of power

- watch oil temp & water temp (Get a warning light for these)

- watch knock - make sure engine check lamp works and your knocking warning is turned on

- run 100 ron if you can as insurance policy

- check tyres, pads and rotors before track day

- if your running semi comp rubber get some advice before using them

- oil cooler is critical

-- dont get a cheap junker kit, get a trusted japanese brand kit to suit ECR33

-- this will ensure correct fittings, right hoses etc

-- any failure / risk in the oil system puts the engine at great risk

heat will be your biggest problem. heat in the pads, rotors, calipers, turbo housing, dump pipe etc

thanx paul, i'm putting on a trusted kit fer sure, i dont run any cheap parts on my car

boost is always on my actuator's minimum for extended thrashings... (1 bar)

oil is slightly overfilled

everything else is always checked :P

Don't worry about your oil temps around the streets not getting hot enough quick enough.

use good quality oil and that's all that's required. There are HEAPS of us getting around with oil coolers and no thermostats.

The highest wear and tear time on an engine is at initial start us, for those first few seconds before oil pressure is 100%, and there's nothing a thermostat can do for that.

for an update im also drilling a custom oil return from the head to the sump :P

if i go for a thicker head gasket to lower compression, how much power can i pick up up top vs losing response?

the car is already very responsive (full boost of 20psi by 3500) so i do have a little can afford to lose i spose...

    • Absolutely could be. I collected data logs from when the O2 sensor was still out and also after I had replaced it so will try to compare them. Pretty confident that the affect is lowered with the new sensor, will check logs at the same RPMs/conditions.

    • thanks for the advice on the box... i was thinking the 6 speed was better for cruising on the highway but on closer inspection and comparison the Rb 5 speed box was not too different...  So the choice is going to be the RB25 box... if I can save up and find one at the right price
    • Thanks Matt, yes that's what i am aiming for. Just going to apply the right voltage and grounds to the dash connector. Hence my search for these pins... any chance you know if these pins are in the same spot as the ones on the S15 Dash connector? as mentioned above on page 8?
    • Yes, unfortunately that's the one. Signal was noisy to begin with; after driving once and looking back at the logs I saw pressure constantly swinging between 0-200psi, or staying at 0 randomly for a few seconds. There's a lot of good sensors that share the same look and feel, so don't presume they're all bad. I bought mine for 20$ off Amazon and I should have read the reviews prior, as it's clear they're junk.  I purchased a lowdollerr motorsports sensor.
