There really isn't all that much difference really, the brembo's are a bit stiffer but thats about it, piston diameter remains more or less the same.

I use the standard gear overhauled for track days and no fade issues so far. Given the cost of the brembo's I realy dont think its a worthwhile upgrade, better of saving a bit more for AP's or such if you want bigger brakes

Your still looking at around $4000 (fronts only) for an AP upgrade, where you can get a set of Brembo's (GTR not F50) for around $2,000 and another $600 for new pads, rotors and lines. Personally I think the GTR option is better and is what I'll be doing as not only are the initial costs lower replacement pads and rotors are much easier to get a hold of. I have not driven in a car with an AP upgrade so I will not comment about their performance but with decent fluid, lines, slotted rotors and track pads you should be fine for most track days. However with the current dollar, off the shelf Brembo's are a lot dearer than AP. I have also heard from people in the business Brembo's have better dust seals for road use but require more reconditioning if being used hard on the track.

I have to run the brembos because of race rules and they are rubbish for the price people ask for them.

normally 1500 for some un-serviced calipers, stuffed discs and dodgy pads. to get a good system using the factory brembos will cost:

$1500 calipers

$200 service calipers

$500 new discs

$200 new pads

$300 new braided lines

great deal, 2,500 for 4 piston brakes and 10% bigger discs.

Much better buying the g4/d2 8 pot brakes for 2000 including 356m rotors, 8 spot brakes, new pads, braided lines.

Or if you need more than that start saving - $5k+ for an equiavlent set up with brembo/ap/project mu/endless etc

Go the G4! i have em front, 8 pot 356mm and rear 6 pot, 356mm now its now very very good under brakes. Enough to give the GT3's a bath and yes i know their chinese, but do they stop. And fronts have over 3000kms of pure track work on them.

Next is the pedal box as they is quite some movement in the pedal now and with some adjustable bais to the rear its going to be sweet.

i recently up graded to 34 GTR v-spec brakes. Feel awesome and stop great.

I payed $2400 all up including shipping from japan. Front and rear set.

Came with Calapiers, discs, lines, original brembo pads and had only done 17000k's.

Just have to keep ur eyes open and pick up a bargin when u find one.

    • If you take the top half of the intake off you can unbolt the flap off the shaft and leave the shaft in there blocking the hole. Then you can remove the little vacuum canister off from under the manifold and get a spare vacuum line to run to the ECU. I can take some photos of it later. Probably best to get the vacuum source to the ECU sorted first though. Mine all worked mint with the base map from the GTT an I've pretty much let the closed loop sort the fueling and took 1 degree out of the whole timing map.
    • This IS something you also have to configure in Haltech (or at least I did in the past when going from onboard-to-ECU map sensor and an external MAP sensor in haltech land).
    • I'm hoping it's something as simple as the ECU is looking for an external MAP sensor, but he is trying to use the onboard MAP sensor.
    • You won't need to do that if your happy to learn to tune it yourself. You 100% do not need to do that. It is not part of the learning process. It's not like driving on track and 'finding the limit by stepping over the limit'. You should not ever accidently blow up an engine and you should have setup the ECU's engine protection to save you from yourself while you are learning anyway. Plenty of us have tuned their own cars, myself included. We still come here for advice/guidance/new ideas etc.  What have you been doing so far to learn how to tune?
    • Put the ECU's MAP line in your mouth. Blow as hard as you can. You should be able to see about 10 kPa, maybe 15 kPa positive pressure. Suck on it. You should be able to generate a decent vacuum to about the same level also. Note that this is only ~2 psi either way. If the MAP is reading -5 psi all the time, ignition on, engine running or not, driving around or not, then it is severely f**ked. Also, you SHOULD NOT BE DRIVING IT WITHOUT A LOAD REFERENCE. You will break the engine. Badly.
