Yeah they have similair if not the same caliper as Ceffy and s13.

I plan to chuck Z32 calipers on mine...

I know no one in Australia has probably attempted it but the Cima is heavy as and definately needs a brake upgrade.

I have seen GTR calipers on a set of Y31 cima front coilovers

do you reacon new rotors will be needed or is it possible to use the original rotors

Bump well the brake rotors are off and there a Hub style disc like the r31 but there 5 stud so this has chucked me right off knowing what would match it

there 260mm and the hub itself goes in stages.

so disc witdh is 24mm MIN then the hub is 31mm then there is a extra bit on the hub that is 19mm

Win.

Rear brake pads I believe are DB1144, had a look at my pads when they were out and also a look at a picture of them. they appear to be correct and are of the same era as the cefiro. Pads listed are for Nissan Cima (check your bendix cat's)

can confirm this tomorrow when they arrive.

100% Confirmed part number for New rear brake pads by Bendix. DB1144GCT.

WIN!

I'd assume the fronts follow the same fashion.

Likely listed in Bendix catalogues as Cima, same same as A31 Cefiro but I do beleive A31/C33 front is exactly the same as SR20DET ? (there is some arguement about this).

Regaring direct bolt ups, S13 calipers would bolt up directly anyway, as should any Nissan caliper, R33 GTST and Z32 being the favorites.

Otherwise just take the whole knuckle assembly with 5 stud hub off something else and do a big 5 stud brake upgrade.

Do these use the same rear cradle as A31/C33/R32, etc ?

Looks a tad weird to me...

no these use a r200 long nose, same as a hr31..

brakes are basicly r33 na brak, havent checked padsyet, they are not sr brakes, they use the same size rotor but with a larger 2 pot caliper. i have been playing since last post. i am just about to bolt s13 front hubs and shizz in with s13 coilovers. these brakes are actually a really good upgrade for stock sr rotors. and bolt straight on.

woo go me,

Hey E-Z,

I've got a cima Gloria same colour and req a front disc rotor and wondering on some sort of substitute without doing the whole coil over upgrade as my airbag suspension and all electrics are working fine and it's still 100% original including the crocheted cima embossed head rest covers.

Cheers Tony

  • 4 years later...

so just found myself with another Y31 Cima

By the looks of it has been upgraded to the R33 NA rotors and brakes but I was looking at going for 4 pots as my spare Cima is now likely going to be used for the track.

also wanting to do a 4 stud conversion on my new road car to fit some old skool Rays 3 piece alloys I have.

So am attempting to fit some 180sx hubs today

Will hopefully post pics soon, but just wondering with upgrading to 4 pots will i need an adapter if I use the 300zx rotors

    • Hope you aren't too sore after that one, might take a day or 2 to notice yet and I guess it is a loooooong drive home. On the bright side, tube frame front end is a thing at superlap, right?

    • The chart of front pressure to rear pressure (with one being on the x axis and the other being on the y axis) is not a straight line on a typical proportioning valve. At lower pressures there is a straight line with one slope, and at higher pressures that changes to a lower slope. That creates a bend in the line at that pressure, called the knee point. If you do not change the proportionng as the pressure gets higher, you will suffer excessive pressure (at one end of the car or the other, depending on which way you look at the proportioning action) and then get lockups at that end. The HFM BM57, from my memory of previous discussions, is based on the BM57 from a different car (to a Skyline), with a different requirement for the location of the knee point and the distribution of pressure front to rear, and so is not a good choice for an upgrade on a Skyline. Here's a couple of links to some old posts, one from here, one from elsewhere. A lot of it pertains to adjustable prop valves, but the idea is the same. There are plenty of discussions on here about this issue from al the many years of people wanting a cheap/accessible option. https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/ https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/
    • Yeah dunno why johhny posted that here with no context, just post on FB/insta bro where he put it up?  Laine had an off at T4 during Thurs prac, he's ok, car is less than perfect, they are done for the weekend, he can fill in the rest. Bando also binned it like 100m up the road.
