yeh at kk's so not fair but people were doin nuffin wrong at all people were not even near there cars and the cops were puttin stickers on them and leavin the defect notice under the wiper not cool aye

Yeah the cops have been blitzing that area of panthers carpark for a while now so anyone who continues to go in their is just plain dumb to be honest, I drove in their in my N13 last night to see what was going on and I saw at least 4 cars red stickered that werent going anywere.

The cruising scene will be dead soon if these defect blitzs keep up.

yeh they were all unmarked one of the red stickerd cars was my mates 4 wheel drive the white one on 35 inch wheels how shit is that seriously the cops are goin under a group name called "tiepan" dunno what the hell that means but it was on all there badges all 90% of the cars where unmarked typhoons keep an eye out for them guys

i also read in the local that cops are going to b targeting drink-driving in the blacktown area over christmas so be very careful people if u drive after you drink

what the hell ?

dont drink and drive at all, ever....

cops have been defecting cars like this for years. Only now the car scene is larger and they target it more due to the "hoons" on the roads.

Taipan is a type of snake... That would be where they got the name from.

first thing to ask is : are they legally modified cars?

if not then that explains the lack of need of the presence of the owners, all engineer certified cars have marking on the rego sticker.

this is the main reason i dont drive my blue 33 for the sake of driving it, until i can get it all finished and engineered i dont want to run the gauntlet of cops and their defects.

The car cruise scene has been big for years. Its not like its just taking off. Panthers has been a popular meet spot for at least 10 years now that I know of, probably longer!

Unless a car is obviously defective from the outside, e.g rediculously low or 35 inch wheels without the little mark on the rego sticker then U cant blame them. If a car with 17's and a FMIC was stickered it would be a bit harsh without further investigation. The thing could have a stock turbo and airbox for all they know making the FMIC legal.

Either way they r just doing their job and can justify it by saying it was surrounded by other modified cars and at the time was doing there job according to procedures. They had a suspicion. Thats all they need. If they are wrong u can clear it no worries. If u cant they were right. Simple as that. Its there job to investigate suspicion.

Sucks tho. It really does ruin the hobby of modifying cars. Other countries dont have this. NZ, USA, Indonesia for f**ks sake has 900hp GTR's running round legally. I dont see y Aus is so special that older guys in 10 second GT's and Monaro's can cruise making over 100db (legal I believe is 95db for pre 1975??) and not running a cat convertor yet a younger guy in an import which is "suspected at close to" 90db gets stickered out of suspicion. I hate that word lol.

They are strike force Taipan... Fighting the forces of evil, taking no prisonors, defecting the f*ck out of anything modified.

Hoons beware... they are... STRIKE FORCE TAIPAN!!!!

damn straight...

"Hoons" have been around for ages, and have been ruthlessly slaughtering out women and children for way too long!!! Dont you guys watch the news!?!? Wont someone please think of the children!!

dude 3 of the car a 4 wheel drives he defected the 1 of them cos it had factory driving lights how stupid is that then they defected my mates 4 door r32 for tinted rear taillights hellow they come stock but for some reason they dont know this if they dont know simple things like that show what they really must know

Tinted rear tail lights on an R32 standard? You sure you didnt just overhear the conversation with the cop?

"Nah fo sure bro.. they're full stock like that and shit aye"

Yeah tinted lights front or back r defectable as they "decrease visibility from the factory lighting". R32 tail lights r the same colour as R31, R33, R34, VL, EA....... They r red lol.

It is going too far, sort of justifiable by the road toll tho and the amount of hoons but seriously. I think they should do it like other countries, not be strict on mods, just be extra strict on policing the road laws like speeding and illegal racing etc. There is fun having a car that u can use on a track but there is no real need to over do it on a public road. If they really cracked down on speeding, u'd have a lot of modded cars going the same speed as a stock commodore. In fact.. Its these f**kin stock commodores that do most of the hooning! How many commo's/falcons do u see pulled over in comparrisson to Imports. Difference being the Commo drivers were driving like dicks and the Import bonnets r up. I see the good that is trying to be done, but I think from the persective of the driving and pedestrian public they r going about it the wrong way.

My 2 cents thats all

    • You just need to remove the compressor housing, not the entire turbo. I would not be drilling and tapping anything with the housing still on anyways.
    • So, I put my boat on a boat. First of all, I'm going to come out and say it. Why is Tasmania not considered a holy goal, an apex that all road-legal modified cars go to, to experience? This place is an absolute wonderland of titanic proportions. If people are already getting club runs for once in a lifetime 30 person cruises to Tassy then I've never seemed to see it. It is like someone replaced the entire place with an idyllic wonderland for cars, and all of the people living there with paid actors who are kind, humble, and friendly. Dear god. After doing a lap of almost all of the place I've found that it's a great way to find out all of the little things that the car isn't doing quite right and a great way to figure it all out. All in all, I drove for 4 hours a day for a week and nothing broke. I didn't even need to open the engine bay. This is by all means a great success, but it has left me with a list of things to potentially address. I also now have a 3D printed wheel fitment tool which annoyingly hasn't got any threads in it to actually assemble it. I might be able to tape it together to check the sizing I actually want to use, but it'll likely involving pulling the shocks out to properly measure travel at least at the front, and probably raise the car while I'm at it, at least in the rear. I scraped on quite a few things and I'm not sure how else to go about it. I was taking anything with a bump at what felt like 89 degree angles. And address those 10 other tasks. And wash the car. God damn it is dirty. And somehow, the weather was perfect the entire time - And because I was on the top of Mt Wellington it turns out it was very much about to freeze up there. I did something I typically never do and took some photos up there in what must have been -10 and the foggy felt like suspended ice, rather than mere fog. If you own a car in Australia, you owe it to yourself to do it.
    • Damn that was hilarious, and a bit embarrassing for skylines in general 😂 vintage car life ey. That R33 really stomped. Pretty entertaining stuff
    • Hi, I have a r32 gtr transmission. Does any of you guys have an idea how much power it will hold with the billet center plate and stock gearset? At what power level and use did yours brake with or without billet plate? Thanks, Oystein Lovik
    • Saw this replica police car based on a Mitsubishi Starion XX parked next to a 'police box' (it's literally a box) in Hirohata, Himeji City in Hyogo prefecture the other day. It's owned by Morii-san who is a local Mitsubishi Starion enthusiast. According to a local radio station blog post, he always wanted to make a police car himself based on ones he saw in his favourite Manga comics.  As it's illegal to modify a car to look like a police car and drive on the road, Morii-san tried many times to get permission from Aboshi police station headquarters nearby. They refused initially by after they got tired of that they granted him permission. However, the car can only be displayed on private property and obviously can't be registered as long as the police livery is present. The car was completed at a cost of 1.5 million yen (US$ 10,000) in addition to the car cost. A location was chosen outside Hirohata Police box where the car can easily been seen from the street. Morii-san has two other Starion road cars, both widebody GSR-VRs.
