Where To Buy The Right Offset Rims?

Howdy

I want to buy some new rims but not Enkeis or RAYS as I think they are too soft for shite Sydney roads. BUT where can I buy some 18s or 19s with the right offset which I think is around +22 for 19s. Everywhere I ring wants to flog +30s :D

Its pretty tuff mate, I got my rims with a silly offset of about +35. So i had to by some spacers to get the perfect fit. You can put an order with tempe tyres and they can get you rims with the right offset you want. (they get there rims ordered from the US) The only prob is that you will have to wait a while and pay more

Well, I just had a set of RPO3s and they went out of shape very easily and had to be worked back into round. As far as I remember I never hit a pothole once, but the old Star Corps bounced off everything, no probs

Enkeis aren't the best wheels to compare if you're after a quality jap wheel. I've had a dozen set of rays, work, ssrs you name it...never had a problem.

Rays have some of the wheels that are made with good Quality Cast which is weaker for sydney road. But if you go to something like Volk Racing and most of them are Forged and most of them are Freaking strong. I bent one of my TE37 once when i accidently ran into a curb and that already bent all the suspension arm as well. So Volk Racing Forge are a super strong stuff.

If you want a cheap one go with Casting wheels, If you want a good quality, light and strong go with Forged wheels.

My Le37 Topsecret is running on 19x9.5 +22 and 19x10.5 +22

Got Star Corps... They break and bend very easily... Guess it depends on luck. Lesson learnt is not to buy anything chinese...

would it be depending on the shape of the spokes? some cheap rims tried to have that same look with a forged jdm rims, but they're not forged... so go figure...

also another thing I noted at the back of my rays there's a 690kg imprint. I reckon this will be the max weight limit that each rim can handle before on to the breaking point... if the one you have breaks too easily, perhaps it's time to see what's the weight limit on your rims and what car you have it on...

A V35 is around 1500kg so on a good balance it should be around 370-400kg each corner. different story if hitting a pothole during a hard braking that could transfer most of the vehicle weight to the front so the loading will be greater.

I've had Enkei before which have bent after a nice hit on a timber i didn't see, but have also never had a prob with a few different sets of Forged Rays.

Unless your smacking into large potholes I'd be surprised to see a forged rim "bend" out of shape.

Another option is don't go for ridiculously thin tyres.

In my opinion, I don't care about that small strip of rubber... I have 40's at the moment and I will never go less than that.

I'd love 19's or more, but I don't want to drive like a drunk grandma (slow and weaving all over the place)

The roads where I am are absolutely awful, worse that any I have ever found in Melbourne or the suburbs of.

Also worse than I saw in Sydney a few years ago.

I can handle rough roads, but not potholes you coule hide in...

Worse than Sydney :( Shirley you're joking Stephen. Good advice though for sticking with 18s though.

Well then Sydney & Geelong people shouldn't be considering buying the R35 GTR at all... as the thing's got 20" rims... ?

Imagine bending the rims each weekend you took the car for a drive.

The R35 has a larger rolling diameter compared to the previous skylines and hence still comes wrapped in 40 profile tyres from factory on the 20" rims.

Unless you have an x5 or something similar, an 18 with a 40 is the most I would even look at...

as for my 225/40R18 I wanted to go back to 17's

Sidewall is good... unless on the track...

then check out a track car and you mght be surprised.

In what way is there a difference?

I think he is referring to the extra bumpy ride due to less tyre between the wheel and road. 19" wheels on a V35 should really be on 35 profile unless you are running a wider tyre on the rear like 275s to compensate overall diameter.

      I haven’t pulled the injectors to watch them spray yet but they are clicking from the cas and all of the spark plugs are wet with fuel. I’ve thought the cylinders were being flooded from the beginning and was hoping fuel pressure would fix it. Tonight I am going to pull the rail and watch the injectors spray. Don’t know how to test/diagnose if the plugs are firing in correct sequence but that should be a timing thing and as far as timing goes my car still has the half moon for the cas can only install it 1 way. And my mechanical timing is 100% correct I posted photos above. Confirmed with the balancer on and off.

      I checked spark on all cylinders and they all visually have spark with the plug pulled and grounded, but plug 1 is the only one that fouled. This was a running swap that blew up and was rebuilt by a machine shop, put a new wiring specialties harness and did all gaskets, studs, and bolts while it was out.  compression is 135-150 across all cylinders. Aside from that from my understanding with the z32 ecu and maf the car should start regardless. The wiring for TPS and the dual 02 sensor/ dual knock sensor stuff shouldn’t actually stop the car from starting or even running well, (just slightly rich)  they just give fault codes. Car supposedly is supposed to start as long as you have z32 afm and ecu with the nistune base map and that’s info coming from a well known and trusted tuner who does a lot with SR/RB (Rsenthalpy). After more trouble shooting today where I’m at right now is that the cas is sending signal to the injectors they click while spinning the rotor, Fuel pressure is now set at 43psi, all cylinders have good compression and all of the plugs looked great (just wet with fuel) except for cylinder 1 which was very black (cylinder 1 has 150psi compression). all of the coils generate spark if pulled out and grounded out on the head. On the fuel pump car just pops into the exhaust. On starting fluid car will fire off. Hard to tell if all cylinders are firing off but definitley a couple. sounds like all of them but it’s only for 3-5 seconds hard to tell.

      Final update!!! Got the front bar fitted and sprayed and all sorted now. My cutouts worked great and the indicators aren’t just falling off. 😂

      Is this a brand new LSD? if so, have you followed any break/bed in procedure for it? Usually involves heaps of figure 8 patterns, a fluid flush.
