Hey all

About a month and a half ago i bought my car from top secret imports in Blacktown It's an R34 GT its done about 69,000kms. about 1500 since imported.

Anyways when i test drove my car it was great 2nd gear went in a bit notchy but didn't crunch or anything like that, rest of the gears were fine.

I'll explain the full drama so it might give a clearer picture of what I'm dealing with.

After compliance i picked up the car to drive it around for about 2hrs and noticed 3rd crunched not matter what. it then started in 4th then started going into 2nd..

So i took the car back the next day. They said they would change the oil to redline oil instead of the generic stuff they used to begin with..

A few days later i got the car back and everything seemed fine, still a bit notchy in 2nd but i was prepared to live with it. up until about 2 weeks ago when 2nd and 3rd would crunch while up-shifting no matter what. it has since started spreading to 4th gear. But its only while shifting up, not down.

I think the new oil just masked the problem up till now. Now yesterday I'm getting this weird squeak sound when i lift the clutch while taking off in 1st, not taking off hard just normal driving.. I think the clutch has slipped once, i was holding the clutch at the holding point on a slight incline when it just lost the holding point and stalled.

Could the gearbox drama have done this to the clutch? Also any ideas what my problems could be and how to rectify them??

I have a 1yr warranty on the car that covers

Gearbox: all lubricated components excluding tourqe converters to the value of $1500

Clutch: Slave and Master cylinder only to the value of $750

So i hope that it will cover whatever is wrong with both the gearbox and clutch otherwise I'm seriously considering some type of action against top secret for breaking my gearbox in the first place.

I have lost the car to top secret for 2 weeks while they respray the bootlid, Yes 2 weeks to respray the boot wtf? After putting a 30cm scratch along it while changing the oil a month ago (had to chase them every week for 1 and a half months even though it was supposed to be done the week after scratching it. Easily the worst customer service ever, dont return phone calls or anything.)

So should I get them to look into the drama or take it somewhere else?

Where would be a good transmission place be to take it in western sydney?

Thanks for any help you can give me.

p.s. sorry for the mass of questions i just dont know what to do with it.

    • Sorry to hear your HFM BM57 was faulty,  did you contact HFM I would hope they would be at least grateful for the information if there was some sort of manufacturing fault, you would hope they would be sympathetic even if your item was 2 years old if it had never been fitted. May I ask where it leaked from ?
    • Cats are called Bella, and Donna...  Like that poisonous plant And I remember your 2 monsters, I remember making a little bit of wee when you let them out... LOL I have already installed cat doors into the laundry where their kitty litter is, and the sun room, apart from the cat doors there's not going to be any permanent mounted stuff on the interior walls (interior doors are cheap and easy to replace) I will get a outdoor cat cage thingie once I finish the landscaping out back... https://catnip.com.au/ The only off limit areas are the main bedroom and the gym room....but, currently the cats are curled up in bed, in the main bedroom with the Mrs.....LOL, the off limits for the kittens to the main bedroom lasted about 5 minutes with Jackie I currently only have 1 free standing huge cat tree multiple level scratching post thingie in the lounge room, but, I will be getting another one soon now that I'm happy with the furniture layout in the back room and have a perfect spot for it
    • All of this is making it seem clear that running the Coppermix twin was definitely the way to go, especially in hindsight with how insane tariffs have gotten and the strength of the USD vs yen at the time.
    • That sounds like no chance of even importing one for road registering then Now I see why Duncan wants to check LHD rules for Targa...   I wonder how "bolt in" the AWD would be if you got one imported from the US and swapped it to an AUD one
    • Not to mention they drive like a bucket of bolts! yuck!
