So I had my car in today at EFI performance on the gold coast. Great bunch of blokes, very proffesional and excellent prices. I had a nistune done and im absolutely stoked both with the chip, the performance I gained and seans (i think its sean its a bit late and im crashin) ability to tune these chips. For all you who dont know sean learnt to tune from possibly the best and one of the most well known tuners Matt Spry.

The nistune chip alone performs far better than any power FC you would be able to get your hands on as long as your not chasing over 500hp.

I will post up my dyno results as soon as possible, as its too late to do it now I will get onto it tomorow. But ym 34gtt before the tuning began was running extremely rich during the middle of the power curve causing the car to miss fire at around 5000rpm but the car gained today 40rwkw's from the nistune making 180rwkw's on an automatic gear box with the following mods.

FMIC

Apexi Pod

Turbo back exhaust 3"

AVCR boost controller on 13psi

HKS Fuel Pump (on teh standard nissan flow rate for the car)

Turbosmart Fuel Reg

Splitfires

HKS SSQV

So next step is fuel rail with 550cc injectors and turbo (which im yet to decide on which avanue img onig to take)

But all in all. EFI offered both excellent customer service, there allr eally down to earth blokes whoa re willing to explain stuff thuroughly. And they certainly know there cars. And on another note there about to move to yatala which is going to make there shop more accessible for all you brissie boys and girls.

Nistune cost $850 all up including the chip for 395 and 170 an hour on the dyno. Fraction of the price of a Power FC and far superior in my opinion if your not chasing any rediculously huge numbers.

it's just a matter of saving the money 2 get the work done now.

but the chips deffinatly sound like they r worth a go.

vg30 chip mate, number 4 chip

I have the same power as you with less mods. But running a power fc tuned by Mark at godzilla. Maybe he's the difference?

There could be a number of things that cause that not particularly the tuner. Some cars pull some numbers out of there arse for no reason. But a 40kw gain at the wheels from just the chip was a huge increase for my car. But heres the difference between a power FC and nistune. The nissan computer is more intelligent than any aftermarket computer your going to be putting in your car so why get rid of it? And im assuming that your car would be a manual if your running a power FC and thats why you would be making bigger number on less mods. Fuel pump and the fuel reg dont give me power just allow my car to get to my goal of 250rwkw's without any fuel delivery problems.

220rwkw with practically the same mods.. ect..except RB20 POWAH :D lol s 3" split dump to a straight through zorst, splitfires, boost tee, big fuel pump & regulator, fmic, stock 25turbo @ 12psi remapped chip 110$ (posted) and $50 to put new chip in n a dyno tune.. to more fine tune it was $180 ;) $350? ftw! ppl are liiek wtfh4x considering the basic bolt on mods iv done :P lol gl with the 34 brother ;)

And as for the comparing issue, you can only compare if you run both your cars on the same dyno at the same time, no point saying I got X @ so and so...it doesn't work like that :D

I pulled 187kw on a dyno that I use a bit, went back a few months later and pulled 147kw with no change in performance (mainline had been out to service and settings had changed) after tuning the car was up to 188kw (40kw gain) and I know for a fact if I throw it on a Dyno Dynamics I'll be getting around 230kw+

Dynos are awesome tuning tools and aren't good for comparisons as none follow the same setup or standards :P

And as for the comparing issue, you can only compare if you run both your cars on the same dyno at the same time, no point saying I got X @ so and so...it doesn't work like that :D

I pulled 187kw on a dyno that I use a bit, went back a few months later and pulled 147kw with no change in performance (mainline had been out to service and settings had changed) after tuning the car was up to 188kw (40kw gain) and I know for a fact if I throw it on a Dyno Dynamics I'll be getting around 230kw+

Dynos are awesome tuning tools and aren't good for comparisons as none follow the same setup or standards :P

I'm getting my car tuned with sean in the next couple of days and im really excited.. i agree they are definitely a very switched on bunch of blokes, sean, rick and troy..... i would definitely recommend anyone looking for a new computer and a sick tune give them a call!! :P

imo nistune ecu's are great value for money and will work as good if not better than power fc if you work with it not against it...

numbers mean nothing, there's that much difference from dyno to dyno its not funny!! and sean tunes a car to make solid power everyday as reliable as possible.

cant wait for my tune ;)

I'm just kinda kickin myself that I didn't hold off a bit longer and get a Vipec...

Oh and my tune is very safe also. Mark was very upfront about how he doesn't like to squeeze every pony possible out of the engine at the risk of possibly harming it.

Oh but I must say with the power fc, I do like having the hand controller :)

absolutely dan. Im extremely happy with how my car was treated and performed. I guess in the end everyone has there personal preferences with ECU's and as dan would know i did alot of research into how i was going to go about having my cars computer upgraded and in the end this was the best choice I could have made, taking into consideration that my car was an automatic.

So anyways next step is one of EFI's custom fuel rails with 550cc sard top fed injectors and some form of turbo... hahaha. Maybe a gt3071, not sure yet but will post up after its all done and get up a new dyno result.

hmmm... Do they only tune these nistune chip thingis? Or will they do a powerFC as well?

Might be worth getting a quote from them, im in the market for a tune late december (if anyones open) or early january.

they do alot of different ecu's. Haltech, power fc, wolf, nistune... just give them a call and tell them what your looking for and they will be more than happy to help you out.

It isnt about comparing what ECU's are better, who tune's what on what dyno or your car make's more power than mine.

We just want to see good results from your package within your budget.......

I spoke to these guys, they seemed pretty switched on. Their tuning is a bit more expensive then most other places, but on the flip side, you often get what you pay for in tuning.

Im waiting on a quote back from them regarding fuel parts to support the power figure I named to the tuner, I'm hoping its competitive as I did quite like the sound of their workshop over the phone and I have heard nothing but good things, but if its significantly more expensive then the competition, well I don't have a bottomless pit of money :(

dont suppose you know anyone that has a standard r34 computer that they dont want - i need one for my car

dale bought injectors from them at great prices for quality products ;) and their tuning is not more expensive than other places... their prices are about same as most places these days and you definitely get what you pay for :banana: i know i would rather pay a bit more for a MUCH better safe tune with awesome drivabilty/delivery then save 100 bucks and my car blow the ringlands out of the pistons :) coz its PINGGGIINNN its head off :)

EFI are the only place I will let touch the tuning on my GTR, they are the best bunch of blokes. Sean will speak to you about what you want and tell you which way he thinks is the best route to take to get there. If your serious about your car and want a top quality job give these boys a call...

    • Seat of the pants assessment of the new intake: The car is way less "doughy" when hitting the loud pedal, especially off idle when stopped or in traffic, I did use a cheapo lazer thermal thingo to measure the temp around where the pod filter got its air, it was between 55 - 60°C, in saying this the car was shut off and not moving, so the OEM intake pipe was not supplying any fresh air to where the pod was when the car was at least moving A weird bonus was induction noise on the throttle in the cabin increased a bit,  I was worried that I was actually going to lose some of that induction noise I love so much, outside though, when I got the daughter to do a WOT drive by pass for me, the induction noise has increased alot when on the throttle, not quite ITB doort, but well up there I'm extremely happy with the results and have been exploring the country roads in the region  As for house mods: 1.New front fence is up and is awesome, it really upgraded how the joint looks from the street, and the added security is nice 2. Electricians have replace some interior lights, and with more lighting in the garage, a few new motion detecting lights out the front above the garage, front room, and at the front door, which I have already found heaps helpful coming and going, also now has fancy pants CCTV all round the house The only hold point for power though is the solar and batteries due to supply issues, although this will happen over the next few weeks 3. I have done a heap of landscaping out the front and I'm almost ready to do a new small retaining wall with some nice blocks to replace the brick and cemented in rocks around the raised garden beds cemented in river stone "was the fashion at the time" the house was built. I currently have a pallet of retaining wall blocks and 2 bulka bags of 20mm blue metal to replace the wood chip that is in the raised garden beds around the house 4. I now have 3 big raised garden beds for out the back to grow some vegetables, about 70cm high, 200cm long and 100cm wide 5. My 2 compost bins are already pretty full with brown, green and kitchen waste from the landscaping I'vedone so far, but they will probably take a few months to break down, so anything else that gets chopped, trimmed, and kitchen waste will just start filling the base of the raised garden beds to about 30cm before I start throwing 40cm of good compost, and stuff, for the vegetables to grow in, I'll need a few ton of compost and soil, but the local supplier can sent me bulka bags of the stuff Basically the logs, wood chips and a few strategically placed rocks for drainage, will give the beds some good organic materials down low to break down over time, and they will hold moisture during the warmer months to save the water in my big arse water tank if we don't get alot of rain So, all in all, the car and house mods are going well, and I'm really enjoying being retired, I sleep in too 0700 and slowly plod around inside until I feel like actually doing anything, and only work in the yard for as long as want, which has actually been alot over the last few weeks,  although when you look at it, it seems that not a huge amount of work has been done,  until I look at the before I started the work pics Happy days and good times indeed 
    • hahaha yeah. Plan is to get side skirts and probably just rear pods. But going to do them one-by-one. I've got a set that I really like from RHDJapen, but that one isn't shipped to AU. So need to find someone who can get it for me
    • Here's an idea, answer the questions I asked you as they are trying to work out WHY the LSD will be binding up in a straight line.
    • You haven't driven many modern cars then have you? Most of them have sfa steering feel with their stupid electric bullshit steering systems.
