As Fatz said, the signs are a courtesy and not a legal requirement. They are not a gazetted traffic sign in the road rules 2008 (However the speed limit symbol on the sign is). There is no excemption from a speeding offence in the Road Transport (Safety and Traffic Management) Act 1999 if signs arent present.

The only sign legally required to enforce a speed limit apart from the default 50km/h limit (Which requires no signage at all) Is a speed restriction or derestriction sign.

someone who who knoes the law

about farken time

Hehe. Seen it tried in a few courts. Funnily often referred to as ignorance. Good to watch but ends like every other train smash, Horrifying but you just cant help but look. :santa:

If the matter is proven and you are dealt with by way of a S10 dismissal. If this is the case you can appeal to the RTA to get your points back.

If no prima facie is reached and the matter is dismissed then you retain your points

but oh well im gonna start a new thread on who has what points..........

  • 3 weeks later...
start of school they will be opperational

simple as that

has school started!!!????

work it out!

i dunno if your post was suppose to be sarcastic......

but if not.....

what we meant by up and running is that... weeks ago.....the 2nd part of the camera...(the smaller Lense) was missing with wires hanging out. and obviously it needs both larger and smaller lense box to work. so visually you can tell its not working.

but recently what i think people are telling us is that they have completed it physically by appearance.

but school hasnt started just yet.....

but the camera is NOT just a School Zone camera...it also works as a Standard Speed Camera depending on the time of day.

so in otherwords.....the other school zone cameras throught NSW currently STILL WORK.... but its just during the schedule during school hours.....since its holidays...it will be a normal speed camera at 60km/h.

so perhaps they got it up and running but obviously they shouldnt snap you at 60km during school times.

isnt woodvile rd 70?

yeah but i was refering to other speed cameras in sydney

mostly are 60km/h

that spot with the speed camera we were talking about....thats a pretty easy spot to go over the limit.

Even when they are signposted the RTA will generally have a lead in period where the camera is operational but infringement notices are not issued. This may run for up to 6 weeks and is part of the policy regarding public awareness when installing traffic enforcement cameras.

hmm..well heading towrds parra the camera looks complete and ready to run. the one heading to cabra looks half done, the portable signs still flashing "commencing soon" ......

as i said before they will issued warning letters for teh first month when they are turned on

however if you go threw at 150 dont excpect to get a warning notice

;)

yeah personally i wouldnt risk it at all......

even though the cameras looks very much FULLY operational...due to the fact both cameras are up and the 3 Warning signs towards the cameras are posted...

but the only thing is that the Electronic signs say "commencing soon"

either way i slow down just incase... i tend to think of the worst case scenario.

its not worth it if it just takes you 2 seconds to slow down at that point.

All school zones should have flashing lights to warn drivers to slow down, and now they can have. See www.schoolzonelights.com.au for details. Will put a bit of a dent in the Government's coffers and help make school kids safer.

    • I've looked up the parts number (41011AL501). It's around $700 OEM. Usually our Infiniti G35 here in Canada have interchangeable parts with my Stagea but the parts number are not the same. I have looked around and it seems the JDM 2005 V35 Skyline (which is the same as our G35) has the same caliper but I cannot confirm. And I can't find a repair kit. The inner brake pads drags on the rotor, seems to be rusty piston. Thanks for the info by the way
    • This coupled with 6-9 speed autos with ridiculously short gearing is why these modern shitbox cars always seem so fast off the line. If it wasn't for those things, Raptors would not seem fast. The problem we have is there is a driveability gap between a more gentle take off and a wheelspinning sideways launch. The difference between ankle flex required to achieve one and ankle flex required to achieve the other is about 0.5°.
    • Yeah I think I'm also with the opposite here. It's 'hard to keep up with traffic' because in the real world I'm accelerating with 15% throttle and they are pinning it. It feels like I'm being an overt dickhead at anything above 15% throttle, so the car sounds like I'm being an overt dickhead to keep up with/get ahead of traffic when I'm really just trying to drive with traffic. There would be no issue 'keeping up with traffic' if we used the same level of throttle input/aggression to drive around. People really do just drive around with their foot nearly pinned in econoboxes.
    • To be fair it's the other way around. 300kw is boring in a modern Golf or BMW. They are so competent / well-engineered / devoid of emotion that you have to go stupid fast to feel anything. Whereas the <300kw RB still makes all the right noises and it feels good to drive. Can pull off at the lights with the turbo whooshing and the blow-off pssshing and feel like the coolest kid on the block. Just don't look to the side where you'll see the bored housewifes in their shitbox Yaris/Corolla/Camry that kept up because you didn't go fast at all
    • 300kW is so boring in a Skyline, you'll get spanked by someone's mum's Golf with Alibaba pipes, and an email tune.
