Ok - it seem these are RE-11S (as opposed to just Re-11). Released 1/12/08 so maybe a bit early to tell how good they are but seem to be aimed at the autocross guys as they seem a bit softer than RE55's from the had to read charts! LOL

quite a few guys in japan tell me the a050s are the shit. but then again a few of them liked the a048s too which didn't enjoy much success here.

i only know one guy who's even used the RE-11S and he was pretty impressed. but yeah a bit early to tell yet. not enough folk using them. and often what seems to work OS doesn't always work in aus.

Duncan, Khumo whats? For track application? Be interested to hear.

hmm shame I'd have to talk to gordon leven about either of them in nsw.

we've finally moved off the yokos on the khumos. 40% cheaper and about 50% better lol.

tyre noise is generally right at the bottom of the list of concerns for a track tyre. generally you want grip, consistency, feel, tyre life, and cost. noise doesn't really rate.

Also would love to know which khumo's as my re55 have reached the end of their life and would love a cheaper alternative...

Yeah we found the same thing. We found the little tyres that suited the EVO's / WRX's were cheap as but the bigger sizes needed for skylines were more expensive than the Bridgestones.

I went down and chatted to Bridgestone today as well about these new RE-11S tyres. They'd never heard of them (they had to google them!) and pretty much said not to expect any here for at least another 12 months.

not bloody surprising... by the time we get some they will be superseeded.... just like we still don't have a nissan R35 and they are already up to mk 2 and Spec V.... being in a small economy sure does suck.. :(

Don't know how much of a rush I'd be to getting them anyways. I got some priced from a supplier in Japan and at 43,000yen per tyre for 265/35/18's plus delivery you are looking at a pretty serious bill by the time they arrive here!

That makes DZ03's look reasonable in price. In fact the price of R comps over the next year or 2 could become quite scary I think.

sorry I should have been clearer. Production Car (and Improved production for that matter) have a control tyre, for the last few years that has been Yoko A048R (and A032R before that). $500 per corner for 245/45/17 and the only place you can buy them in NSW is Gordon Leven (Gordon is kind enough to refund $5 from each tyre back to the street sedan race club).

From this year Kumho have won the tender and we are now running v70a/v700. They are about 30% cheaper and will perform better.

In particular the A048r would be about 1 sec quicker on laps 2-4 then they just go downhill, so if you can afford $2k in new tyres each time you go out you can set some good times on them.

    • So good putting the valve/flap on the catch can. My clothes don't smell like shit anymore. Tempted to fully seal the catch can for daily use and feed all the crank case fumes back into the intake and expose the vent only when on the race track.  Took my daughter to go visit her grandmother, now she's making spooling noises in the car lolol.
    • Hey everyone I recently have been trying to diagnose my rear glass not opening, I recently discovered that the previous owner/owners messed up the wiring real bad and now when ever my vehicle is unlocked my rear glass opener mechanisms has constant power, so whoever wired it up decided to instead fix it they just would remove the metal rod that allows the window to open, so I put the rod back in and now it's just constant power, does anyone know the wiring diagram for the door locks I've been looking a little bit and they are quite confusing, also here's a video of what I'm talking about, I posted it on YouTube so show.
    • Sounds like a good one! Part of me goes "Oof, now we have to get up so early" but then also "This is the best time to drive when there is no traffic!". So, yeah, bought my ticket and am looking forward to it!
    • Yes your correct haha I found that the passenger side wire was cut from previous owner when it was stripped for a re spray, I now have all blinkers except for both front bar blinkers, both bulb holders have continuity but don’t illuminate, this is the same when hazards  are on, I assume I may be missing an earth
    • Just a budget thing I'm sure. Super tourers didn't make it locally and the drivers in that car were paying for drives; so the business case doesn't stack up unless the base car is cheap
