Remote Controlled Drift Cars (good Xmas Present)

Recommended Posts

Was wondering whether anybody happened to catch the ads last nite on TV for the remote control drift cars that were on special.

Wanted to buy one for my mate for Xmas but forgot the name for the place.

They were advertising them for $130 from memory so they make a pretty good present for any car enthusiast

yeah i saw that commercial as well, sounds interesting I may check it out. last xmas i brought a battery drift car on eBay for $90bucks as i didn't know if i'd get into the hobby much or use it or not etc. going the cheap version to start with was a good idea for me as i know now i wouldn't use it enough to spend top dollar on a good one. if i go to this place tomorrow i'll just be picking up spare batteries etc. but i still think my 90dollar buy was the best xmas present i've ever brought myself

i just bought 1. not from that place, from dandenong near the plaza.

cost me like 270 for the car and u assemble it FROM scratch EVERYthing like make ur own diff drive shaft even your own damper oil in your home made suspension and springs, then the remote was $100 (wtf?) i know, and battery was like 35, and charger was like 60, and red paint was 10 bucks.. so it all adds up but its loads of fun, does AWD burnouts and leaves marks on the kitchen floor lol.

I also dumped it on its ass looks hot :P (RX7)

Went there Sunday morning and it's shit. Honestly if the decent cheap stuff was there it sold out before i got there. They just had a few RC cars at $400+ and a couple of rc helicopters. I have a small rc chopper that i bought for $35, they had one very similar for $50 :P

SALE pfffft what a joke.

i work around the corner from that place...there was hardly anything left when i checked it out last friday.

all the cheapish stuff was gone, and most of the stuff was $300+ ..might have restocked it but yeah fyi.

There epic but pricey IF you want a good one. Took 4door_33gts there, we got one from Hobby Man on Mccrae St in dandy. in total for all the stuff you need. car/remote/battery/charger/paint its just under $500.. i've got 2 of them and there pretty fun.

i would recomend this dandy one there really good quality thats if your willing to pay 350-500 depending on what you get.

I'll attach a pic of my S15 :P currently making a R34 Z-Tune

p.s- If your going to buy a drift car make sure its an electric one, the Nitro ones arent the best for drifting. + electric cheaper to run ^^

the city place is over-priced china stuff. A lot of people come back to return and they chuck it back on for sale.

Just go to the dande hobby shop across the road from dande plaza.

Friend picked up a savage XL for $1000 with all the accessories.

It's a monster and can go through anything lol

    • There's restrictor pills in the stock boost control hoses. That's how they set the amount that was bled off and hence the "high" boost setting. The usual mod in the day was to remove it and send the "high" boost setting up to about 14 psi.
    • Thanks Duncan, that's the best info I've read. Furthermore after learning about the PCM programming side controlling the factory boost solenoid, the purpose of the solenoid is to "bleed" boost when pin 25 is earthed, thus allowing spring pressure in the wastegate actuator to overcome diaphragm boost pressure, thus closing or reducing the position of the wastegate flap creating more boost as the turbo is able to spin faster. It's pretty cool to see a designated Pill to do exactly this, would have liked to have seen it with a tiny filter over the end for those moments in vacuum.  The constant bleed pill has now been removed completely from the system and solenoid boost control has been restored once again.   Case closed 😂
    • The wideband reading is meaningless if it's not running. Why are you using shitty old sidefeeds on any engine, let alone a Neo? What manifold and fuel rail are you using to achieve that? Beyond that, can't help you with AEM stuff as I've never been their ECU/CAS combo.
    • Manual boost controllers (where a little of the boost was bled off) were quite common back in the day, because they were cheap and easy. Generally they had a manual adjustment screw rather than being fixed like yours. Down side is they always bleed boost, not just when you want them to so an electronic boost controller that uses a solenoid will have less lag.
    • Hello , im new here and i have A31 home build  RB25det neo stock eng / turbo  aem ems 2 blue connector  aem 3.5 map aem cas disk aem wideband connected to ecu  355 lph pump 550 nismo yellow injectors side feed aftermarket regulator  and won’t start with base aem tuner basic tune eventually flipped cas 180 degree so it triggers on correct stroke not in exhaust cycle  Now it won’t start Wideband reads 10 and 11 at lowest fuel setting  and will share calibrations soon for aem tuner i think something is wrong in aem tuner    please if you have any information, am very grateful
