Cruising in the GF tunnel today i came out and sitting right behind me was a Unmarked K9 Unit I was in the fast lane (the lane closest to the train line) i moved over a lain and the unmarked police followed me i knew right then i was gone. About 400 meters down from the lane change the lights came on and the bubble was placed on the roof.

Any ways i stopped 100 meters before the Hutton/Frobisher st exits he came across on the two way please move up to the exit ramp so i drove up on the exit ramp i awaited for the police to come up on my window  (I have seen what happens on cops lol) any ways he said can i see your drivers license.

This i done with no prob and he asked to pop my hood again my R34 is stock with out the pipe (only mod) he looked over my car looking at all the tires then said u went from 80 to 90 200 meters before the (100) this he let slide because some one ripped passed me and him. then he said the reason i stooped u is that your car is loud in the tunnel.

Then he said i will give u a option i can write u up a yellow or u can fix it your self (i said i will like to fix this me self.) Then he asked me where is the silencer i replayed some where on Eyre Hwy (lost that when i was driving home from Vic). He laughed Wrote down my number on my license and then let me go........ Now i want to ask is the some one out there that know where i can buy a silencer or is it sadly a whole new system?

Exhaust shops should sell them. Car sounds better without a silencer imo. I'd love to see what he'd say about my car, you can hear it 3 streets away. EVERYONE hears me enter the tunnel, whether I'm thrashing it or not!

Your lucky you didnt get a sticker, having an exhaust system on your car isnt illegal! How loud is it?

I dont understand how your car is concidered loud, my mates car has a 25det with a 3.5" straight through system with no cat with a screamer pipe and cannon and its not loud at all, its only loud when he plants it. only POS SR's are loud and gay sounding.

NA cars can be louder, as the turbo itself muffles noise.

Geees bad luck man (but kinda good luck as well)

It's crazy how much it varies with cops.

I got done during double demerits just crusing down mullaloo drive. 69 in a 50 zone...... I know it's stupid but when you live like two streets down you tend to relax a bit in your own neighbourhood..

Either way, cop pulls me over, we talk a bit. I accept the fine, and he sends me on my way.

For starters, my back tyres are waaaaay border line and are next on the list to replace, and he didn't even check this or ask me to pop my bonnet......crazy..

    • I refreshed the OEM injectors with the kit and connected it up. It now ideals okay even with the IACV removed. Driving still has the same cutoff issue like the 550cc injectors so the issue is somewhere else. I bought FPG's Fuel Pump Hanger. I will be installing it next, but it is not as straightforward as I thought it was with my limited wiring knowledge and no instruction on the specific model I purchased (FPG-089). I also got the incorrect billet clamp as I could not find info on the OEM sizing.
    • Stop looking at the garage floor, and turn the radio up a bit louder if there's any strange noises...
    • No. Turbo shuffle and surge/flutter are not the same thing. Specifically, on a GTR, turbo shuffle has a definite meaning. On a GTR, the twin turbos are assumed to be the same thing and to operate the same way, exactly. In reality, they do not. Their exhaust sides are fed and exhaust a little differently, to each other. Their inlet sides are fed and exhausted a little differently, to each other. Consequently, when they are "working" they are often at slightly different points on the compressor map compared to each other. What this means, particularly when coming on boost, is that one of them will spool up and start producing extra flow compared to the other, which will put back pressure on that other compressor, which will push the operating point on that other compressor up (vertically). This will generally result in it bumping up against the surge line on the map, but even if it doesn't, it upsets the compressor and you get this surging shuffle back and forth between them That is "turbo shuffle" on a GTR. It is related to other flutter effects heard on other turbo systems, but it is a particular feature of the somewhat crappy outlet piping arrangement on RB26s. There are plenty of mods that have been attempted with varying levels of success. People have ground out and/or welded more material into the twin turbo pipe to try to prevent it. Extending the divider inside it works, removing material doesn't. There are aftermarket replacement twin turbo pipes available, and these exist pretty mush purely because of this shuffle problem.
    • You can temporarily* use lock collars to keep it in place until you can do the bushes, back the nuts off, slide them in, snug back up. *temporarily is often for ever
    • Thanks for the quick reply. To be clear, when you say turbo shuffle do you mean turbo flutter "stustustu" or referring to something else? I had thought they were the same thing. When I wrote the post my intention was to say it wasn't a flutter/compression surge sound. My understanding was that a flutter sound would be occurring when throttle is released, whereas I can keep the throttle in the same position for this noise
