PM sent regarding my order for some slotted rotors and redstuff pads...My current brake setup feels weak, Has anyone ever changed the ABS controller when doing a 4 stud to 5 stud conversion? My brakes just dont feel right.. i've had the rotors machines before putting them on, i've used Ferodo excels and Bendrix ultimates and still no difference..Master cyl is fine, i even went and bought the big R32 one with the backup reservoir.

Cant seem to work out what the problem is.. Maybe this will do the trick?

I wanna put a RB30DETT in eventually and wont dare until ive sorted out my braking woes.

I've never do any 4 to 5 stud conversion so I'm not sure. from the car at the bottom of your signature, looks like you're putting a Gtst rotor conversion onto your non-turbo GTS4 ? Have you tried bleeding off the brake fluid, or even flush it all out and put a fresh one in? brake fluids can attract water over a period of time, especialy DOT5.1 requires more often maintenanceto DOT4. This could make your braking system less effective.

Not sure about the ABS controller though.

On the other hand, once you transferred the payment, send me a pm and I'll update the order list above.

got your pm....

Could i grab a pm with the group buy price for slotted rotors:

Rear: R32 GTR 297mm slotted rotors

Front: R33 GTS-t 296mm slotted rotors

i'm going to be running r32 gtr calipers on rear and r33 gtst calipers on the front... so this is what i'd need yeah?

the car is used for street and on the very rare occasion will be taken to track.. what pads would you recommend? and if i could get a group buy price on that... that would be great. :D

cheers.. and sorry i'd pm this but i can't yet.. :-S

quote sent...

There are two types of rotors on offer as below:

Standard Slotted Rotors

slotted_lr-web.jpg

Grooved Dimpled (Dimpled & Slots) - a.k.a. Gold Passivated - more rust resistance

(Note that on some car models the OEM rotors is non-vented) - pictured is vented model (most skyline turbos are vented)

More info can be found here: RDA Brakes Products

*) All RRP prices above are per pair, GST inclusive however they DO NOT INCLUDE delivery costs.

In addition to rotors, I am now officially offering EBC Green/Red/Yellow pads to suit most Nissan cars above. Please pm me for quote.

Deliveries all around Aust in approximately 5-10 business days via road courier (organised by RDA). No pickups available as they'd rather send everything out to keep it simple rather than mocking around with orders and separating pickup and deliveries.

no worries. I think the forum had been bombarded by 'fake users' sending spam via its PM facility, that's probably the reason why PM are now limited to people who have posted at least 10 to eliminate those once-off fake user from the spam-bots.

The RDA gold passivated slotted rotors, do they have any other advantages than corrosion protection over the normal slotted rotors by RDA, and why is corrosion an issue (does it affect future machining?)?

the gold passivated material itself is only as important as a pretty girl gotta put up a makeup before leaving the house.

cosmetics

surface rust looks ugly if you don't have a lockup garage, car exposed to humidity outside, and you didn't use the car on daily basis.

extreme amount of surface rust may score the rotor surface, so you may need to machine it more often if it's too badly rusted.

However, other than cosmetics, the gold passivated rotors come in a different pattern called the grooved & dimpled.

The extra dimples acts similar to drilled rotors cooling system, especially under constant hard braking use. While drilled rotors

are prone to cracking due to materials remove and reducing the strength, the dimples (or blind drilled holes) maintain the rotor strength

to minimise chance of cracking under extreme use...

Again if you only drive your car on the street, going Gold Passivated should only be considered as cosmetic purposes.

Because on the street, even a lead foot driver in the start stop traffic would not be applying extreme enough demand on the rotors...

only track use would bring the demand up there.

hey bud,

Could i please get a price on a pair of front slotted rotors to suit r33 gts-t? And are the stock rear rotors adequate for a street driven car or should they get an upgrade too?

Thankyou

    • So, version 4 intake is on its way I was looking at these a while ago but at around $200 or more it was a little pricey for something that might not work, but, I had it in my watch list, but, I got a message saying it was on special, and I had a code thingie to use, it eventually came in at $120 delivered, so BAM, BUY NOW.....LOL I'll need to have a look when it arrives but I feel it will "look" better than what I currently have, as it comes with a PCV fitting, so I will be able to get rid of the alloy pipe that goes to the throttle body with the PCV fitting  Well, that's what the voices in my head are telling me  Oh, and this happened today Yeap, it was a Trojan, and it was cheap, so I headed back to the hardware store and actually spent a little bit more on a heavy duty,  one that was actually recommended by a plumber mate, a Cyclone one with a fibreglass handle that is actually rated for clay The broken shovel will eventually be "modified" into a short handle shovel
    • When you pulled it off, there is no signs of blown head gasket? Is it possible you have some other issues going on? Possible cracked blocked? Or do you think it's straight up lifting the head? Did you check what the head was torqued to before pulling it down (To see if possibly they're stretching, or starting to break threads out etc)?
    • Seems like a decent result for a modded JZX110. They are bulky in comparison to the 100 and 90 models (which I'd prefer myself) but they are getting very few and far between here in JP these days. Thanks for the detailed review and the import process into the UK. I also have a car which I'm hoping to export from Japan at some stage so it's good to know if someone from the UK was interested in it. By the way the corrosion underneath is par for the course for cars which were located in/near the mountains or along the Japan sea coastline. They get huge amounts of snow every winter and the sodium chloride is used on the roads. Many cars have some kind of rubber like treatment underneath but they tend to limit it to the wheel arches underbody and fuel tank. Suspension arms and sub-frames will have similar corrosion to your JZX110 which is a common sight. See it all the time and car dealers here generally don't even mention it unless asked.
    • If the sound goes away when you clutch in, the 1.5/2 way diffs are just shit, and you are a normal person. The diff is likely "fine" but driving at anything under 30kmh is a violent horrible experience. It would be exaggerated with solid diff bushings and subframe bushings if you have those.
