So Scotcher Race Fuels & Oils, is the only place in SA????

No wonder he has jacked the price up.

Improved production racing at Mallala will be running it this coming season....They will definately have it on the bowser at the track i would suspect...would make it very easy.

Pretty stupid that they pull it from sales, seeing as most new cars (especially commodores) can run on it.

I've sent an email off to my local MP (Kate Ellis) and asked her to clarify why the e85 is no longer for sale at bowsers. If she gets back to me and is interested in meeting up, I might be able to get some answers for ya'll..

southies, someone volunteer a backyard and buy an electric fuel pump for a 44gal drum

store a dozen or so drums undercover, and sell the fuel covertly, sorta like the old days of booze prohibition in america haha

can we make E85 like this maybe E100

E100 is pure ethanol fuel. Straight hydrated ethanol as an automotive fuel has been widely used in Brazil since the late seventies for ethanol-only vehicles

The Koenigsegg CCXR Edition at the 2008 Geneva Motor Show. This is a version of the CCX, converted to use E85 or E100, as well as standard 98 octane gasoline.

It's sold via there pump!

the other source I have is sold in 200 litres drums at $1.75 /ltr + shipping

what are the contact details of your other source for E85?

How and where do you store your E85? Do they send you a new drum each time you purchase a new batch or can they re-use the one you have?

Scotchers were getting their E85 from SAFF/ENFUEE (and resellling it at an inflated price) so they are out for now as well.

dunno if anyone called, but just rang the first number which is the government measurment sector. they just test bowsers, and the ones that sell e85 are not australian compliant. so SAFF need to get it checked/ fix/ or renew the bowser before they can sell the stuff. thats it.

so complaints need to go to the servo. thanks for the info though fishpaste.

Marion Rd SAFF staff said that the company had gone into receivership and has been taken over by MOGAS not sure of spelling. He wasnt sure if they would even keep selling it. SAFF management have advised the DUTY OFFICE that they havent been able to source an E85 measuring pump in OZ. Anyone heard anything different. The duty office pointed out that more than likely the East Coast pumps are in the same boat except the Government weights and measures people havent got to them yet. Its taken the S.A weights and measures 2 years to get to SAFF. Bloke at SAFF reckons it was a disgruntled ex employee that dobbed in for being non compliant.

There is a brand new United behing built around the corner from my house on Taplies Hill Rd just after the intersection of Taplies & Westlakes Blvd (heading south) and they will be selling E85 fuel, as they have just put a massive sign up.

I'm still unsure about how much I have to do to my car to get it running e85?

Fuel system and enginemanagment wise the car is stock other then 34-R injectors being used,

Anyone know if the standard ECU can be remapped or whatever to get your car to run E85? I was going to ring Donnan but I didn't want to waste his time with a phone as time is money so maybe someone here with a little more information could fill me in.

ECU remap required, 30% bigger injectors required (bigger if you can afford them), fuel pump, a check of the fuel lines to see if they are the type that leak ethanol vapour, and possibly bigger afms depending on how hard u go

just remember - ethanol is less dense, so it needs to pump more per fluidic volume into the engine, and also will be drank faster by your engine because all engines are alcoholics... (not, again its to do with the density and the fact ur pumping more thru)..

Having said that, E85 is cheaper and has less noxious emissions, and has the bonus side effect of giving you more power - if they had many E85 pumps around, I'd most certainly do it, but I travel around a lot so I need lots of refueling points - doubly so with e85 since you go thru it quicker..

Would be nice if a drop tank could be fitted to a gtr - does anyone know if its been done?

    • I hope it's actually possible. This is a write off in insurance world.
    • Yup. 2-way with shallow ramp angles. Still works.
    • That was the first session so not a lot to take from the day. It was low 20s ambient and the coolant had got to 110 (and obviously had some pressure!) so that still needs to be addressed. I haven't downloaded the data yet but will. I had refilled the auto trans with Redline DT6 because it claimed the best viscosity I could find at 100o. It wasn't really long enough to get a good feel for that; while the trans got to 100o in the session it still wasn't shifting crisply as I hoped. I think I'll try a few more sessions before judging. No steering motor overheat but I'd hope not in only 1 session! But finally the suspension; it was night and day over the standard stuff and the car was a couple of seconds quicker on the same crappy tyres, which is a huge difference. I'll stick with that and get some sway bars and a mechanical diff sorted too and see how that all goes together
    • I guess it’s partially a compromise of how my car is used, wanting to be able to switch from drift to grip with track side on-car adjustment. Also partially with the way the knuckles are set there is more static camber but less dynamic camber gain. 
    • OK, so update from the track day on Friday It was a classic "an unfortunate series of events'. There were a few cars around and when i checked my mirror coming out of the fish hook I notice some smoke from the rear of mine. Looked again and it was getting much worse, I figured I'd blown a turbo or something to got off it and pulled off the racing line. However.... since it is a left hairpin into a right kink, I was on the inside of the next corner. There was a car passing me on the left and a big drop off over the ripple strip on the right......and someone had knocked the witch's hat that was on the apex about 1m onto the track. So, between those 3, I decided to mow down the cone and not damage my car/the other car. Right choice, but surprising result.  The car decided the cone was a small pedestrian so it blew the rear bonnet hinges up to protect their head in the upcoming person to car impact....I didn't see that coming and like an airbag deployment it happened super fast. Straight into the pits from there, everything was driving fine but it became clear it was a coolant leak not smoke, it was billowing up onto the windscreen. Onto the trailer and home. I'll do a separate thread about the repair (once I work out what it is ), but the immediate problem was the bonnet wouldn't open because the front was pinched onto the front bar and would not release. Ultimately we unbolted the hinge from the bonnet, pulled it back a little and it released from the front OK. "There's your problem", the top radiator hose had popped off at the radiator.
