Funny thing is these new mods want nothing to do with this meeting, what sort of message is that sending out.

It would be good for some Mod to come and rep SAU, but we can't force them too can we? Everyone is entitled to an opinion, including the Mods.

No mod is compelled to do anything whatsoever Chad. Just because we are mods doesn't mean we have to be involved in every single thing. We graciously offer our time policing all the rubbish that goes on in here, and try to keep the peace. Maybe you want to be elevated for a mod for a while to see what an unthankful position it is, and how much time you have to waste every day for absolutely no reward, then have people say we are not doing enough ....

ok i had a read....

So basically the police have no idea what they are doing? there is no regulations to say what is legal and what is not in SA?

Police have no training on any kind of defects and are not qualified to defect your car at all? what about highway patrol?

So your getting defected according to some rules that the police officer makes up at the time as he goes?

Wow !!

You guys need to stop wasting your time with the police and trying to fix the problem in the police force, thats NOT your job!!. Start going to court. rep yourself and prove to the judge that your car is legal within ADR's.

after you start winning the police might realise there is a problem going on when they start looking very stupid all the time.

can someone give me a explenation of what is actually going on? some info on whos been defected for what.. etc etc

gold 100% on the money

I never said they were Andrew, just stating that we have no one high up on this forum that wants to show up to the meeting, so the whole thing seems like a waste of time in my opinion.

Roo, you hit the nail right on the head buddy when you said either way, action or no action, people just complain. Hence why I stated I will no longer be involved in such nonsense... as Andrew said, being a mod doesn't mean we have any more "power" to represent SAU than you do, we just police posts and delete crap, kind of like SAPOL

I'm sorry I feel the need to remove myself from this because when it all began I thought it could be a worth while meeting but in the end, as always, negativity ruined all.

As I said in my previous post, my elevated status at work will put a huge pressure on me, I start at 6AM and don't see me finishing most days before atleast 6PM, do that 6 days a week and you get the picture. I don't want or need the added stress

If its such a thankless, waste of time then I'm sure alot of people on here are just waiting for the day they can take over the reins.

back on topic....

defect this n defect that.

i dont see any reson that this meeting can not be held in a open public meeting style, invite afew mp's, the media, someone higher up in transport sa and even some of the engineers that are certified by transport sa.

Holy hell!!!

Come home from staring at a computer at work all day and have to catch up on 3 pages... My brain hurts!! Some great suggestions and positive conversations.... but i guess the negative overpowers that ten fold...

So let me get this straight, after the requests for me to contact Neil about all this stuff.. and for me to stick my neck out and try and have a voice for SAU SA, i have absolutely no one willing to follow through with this meeting??

Wow do i feel like I've been kicked in the guts.

You know what, even if i go and meet Neil BY MY SELF, just to get a few of the general questions answered in this thread, then so be it.

After expressing such disgust that he hadn't gotten back to me, i would be looking like a right twat not to follow through with this now.

Looks like i'm on my own for the most part.

seems to me your asking permission to run cruises, with illegal cars, and not get any defects?

its the law, seriously, fighting it will do nothing. if you drive illegal cars be prepared to pay the price.

surely im not the only one that thinks this?

here's the issue, firstly as far as our cars being illegal, well so are majority of the cars on road, difference is our defects are chromed, polished or painted and easier to spot than cracks, rust and worn parts underneath ur average car. our cars are no more illegal than your average car, in fact a lot of the time less illegal if you were to put them through regency.

for years defects have been used to crack down on "high risk" groups of people, you pull over someone u suspect of being a hoon, but didnt catch them in the act, bang defect.

we arent actually requesting any special treatment, simply that we be treated like a normal citizen who doesnt have police constantly trying to defect them.

nene your not on your own. im with ya!

i think this is all just about gaining an UNDERSTANDING on the regulations regarding defects and how they are handled, NOT about getting away from copping a defect coz we are from SAU!

we just need some small questions answered...

Well done Nene and co, great effort on the letter and the approach towards Neil....The only suggestion i'd put forward is to try and get a member of parliment there as well so they can understand the whole situation?

Apart from that i'd like to see the point of engineering raised and why the cost's are so prohibitive! Mod plating system and the police's respect for the engineer is needed! I don't understand why the police can "think" they know more then the engineers?????

Once again well done!

    • Does it also misfire equally when revving?   Josh is very correct in what you should do. The coilpack harness wiring loom itself is a known problem due to its age and the number of heat cycles it has gone through. Throwing parts at a vehicle to diagnose the issue isn't a smart or good way to do it. Secondly, you may have a bad coil pack, you pop replacements in, they fix that issue, but messing with the harness breaks it, so the issue persists. So now you think "well it wasn't the coil packs" and have to continue chasing your tail, potentially swapping back in your shit coil packs and returning the good ones (yes, I've seen people do this because 'it wasn't the problem' and they want to save money). And suddenly, you've got two issues with the same symptoms...   Diagnose, don't use the spare parts shotgun.
