In my opinion there is only Mark from MRC Dyno at Castle Hill. He can't do the ECU which you need to get done at Silverwater Automotive but for any other mechanical work Mark is the one to go to.

Cheers

Where do you live?

My two suggestions are Pro Concept in West Ryde, or IS Motorsport in Rockdale. Both places have good experience with the platform, and both are pretty anal-retentive about the quality of their work.

Pro Concept has prepped 350Z race cars as well as quite a few customer cars.

Alternatively, there's Autotech in Granville. As the approved APS installers for their 350Z TT kit they know the platform well, and they've also done a few rebuilds so if you need the engine opened they won't be learning about it on yours.

I've heard variable things about their customer service, but I'd rather have a rude person who knows what they're doing taking a long time to get it right rather than someone quickly and politely telling me they've got NFI.

mmm, I rang Pro Tech and told them my V35 was pinging so could they do anything about it? "Nope, just try ringing around" was the reply. STRIKE ONE!

Then rang Autotek who did some work on my old 300ZX "I'll get one of the mechanics to ring back if that is okay?" That was 11am and no reply, STRIKE TWO!!

So much for interest in earning my cash!

Silverwater Automotive were the only ones interested who said they had worked on a V35 before.

Cheers

Give Unique Auto Sports in 7 Hills a try. Last time i was talking to them, i think the boss said he was stripping & building a VQ motor for his race car possibly. They seem to know a fair bit about all skylines & nissans in general, plus they specialise in the zeds. Hit em up on www.nismo.com.au if you like. It'll redirect you to their site.

Let me know how it goes, i used them for pretty much all the work done on my car that wasnt done by me. Ive had some major problems fixed without a hassle.

Pro Tech or Pro Concept?

At any rate if I'd known the engine is pinging I wouldn't have suggested them. They don't have tuning facilities to check that kind of thing. Your OP says you wanted a mechanic and not a tuner, and it's to get the car serviced rather than fixing a fault.

If you need someone to do log book servicing, or removing/fitting physical parts, then I'd recommend them.

That's about normal for most mechanics I've found.

For tuning issues, the only other place I can think of off the top of my head is CRD. I had my car tuned there, as have a few other people. I'm not sure how familiar they are with the VQ. I don't have any experience or knowledge of SAS.

Hey fellas,

I thought of reviving this topic...

I would just like to know how much you guys usually pay for your Minor and Major services? i know it varies... but i just really want to see around how much you guys are paying specially when you get your major service done? and wher do you get your car service? im just have this weird conscience about servicing.

The last one i had was a minor service with Bel Garage Sydney..

$200.00 - Royal Purple oil change, full comp. vehicle inspection, filters change, and lilttle replacements like wipers and etc.

Im due for a Major service next month, so i dont know what to expect this time!

Bump to above post but anyone in brisbane can recommend the same thing, please do. I started a thread for brisbane but no one replied to it except chris rogers who recommended carmen imports for servicing. any others?

interested too, my 40k service is coming up. what's a reasonable price? I paid about $380 for my s2000, should i expect the same for the 350GT?

    • There's restrictor pills in the stock boost control hoses. That's how they set the amount that was bled off and hence the "high" boost setting. The usual mod in the day was to remove it and send the "high" boost setting up to about 14 psi.
    • Thanks Duncan, that's the best info I've read. Furthermore after learning about the PCM programming side controlling the factory boost solenoid, the purpose of the solenoid is to "bleed" boost when pin 25 is earthed, thus allowing spring pressure in the wastegate actuator to overcome diaphragm boost pressure, thus closing or reducing the position of the wastegate flap creating more boost as the turbo is able to spin faster. It's pretty cool to see a designated Pill to do exactly this, would have liked to have seen it with a tiny filter over the end for those moments in vacuum.  The constant bleed pill has now been removed completely from the system and solenoid boost control has been restored once again.   Case closed 😂
    • The wideband reading is meaningless if it's not running. Why are you using shitty old sidefeeds on any engine, let alone a Neo? What manifold and fuel rail are you using to achieve that? Beyond that, can't help you with AEM stuff as I've never been their ECU/CAS combo.
    • Manual boost controllers (where a little of the boost was bled off) were quite common back in the day, because they were cheap and easy. Generally they had a manual adjustment screw rather than being fixed like yours. Down side is they always bleed boost, not just when you want them to so an electronic boost controller that uses a solenoid will have less lag.
    • Hello , im new here and i have A31 home build  RB25det neo stock eng / turbo  aem ems 2 blue connector  aem 3.5 map aem cas disk aem wideband connected to ecu  355 lph pump 550 nismo yellow injectors side feed aftermarket regulator  and won’t start with base aem tuner basic tune eventually flipped cas 180 degree so it triggers on correct stroke not in exhaust cycle  Now it won’t start Wideband reads 10 and 11 at lowest fuel setting  and will share calibrations soon for aem tuner i think something is wrong in aem tuner    please if you have any information, am very grateful
