cheers guys an gals :bunny::bunny:

Hey mate, plenty to know and learn about them as they are da bomb! search a bit on the forums and you will find heaps.

PM me if you got any questions

importing right now is not a good idea as the yen to au dollar is pretty crappy so you will be paying quite a bit more atm, buy one here; plenty for sale!

im considering selling mine: its a vspec 2 in black if your interested.

I start uni in less than a month and will not park it so public tranport is my only option; if i sell it, ill buy one again when i finish my studies

hope that was a serious question and not a smartazz joke

And, did it seem like a smartazz joke to you?

na, sori man my bad....jst irritable mood today

i see u have one too, u have an everyday car??

all good dude..

unfortunately, no..... i had a TT supra.....sold that and got a Yaris as a current weekend car lol

but i work as a plumber...mon - fri...even saturdays i get to drive nothing, but the Toyota Hilux.....

but yeah i got the money to buy an R34 GT-R also and keeping my eyes open for the right one...

i go on the sales websites every day to update...

most of the V-specs are a bit too old...

i was just going to purchase one via Importer..JUST before the aussie dollar plummeted....

when AUS$ was 95 US cents... it was looking real good.... you could have one 38,000$ AUD landed (if...auctions went well that is)

but as you asked...it wont be an every day car...im only going to get to drive it on the weekends....

which keeps it interesting anyways........ i wouldnt want to drive a good car every day....

cheers guys, another thing im starting to here is that if they have the 320km gauges in white installed its not genuine kms? how can you tell if they are genuine kms with these gauges? did they come out in japan with the 320km gauges in some models or are they only an aftermarket thing.

help help help, i dont want to be stooged on my purchase ;)

another thing is the rear difuser different on a 99 vspec compared to a 2001 vspec II?

still looking for an r34 guru i can talk to

sms me if you have patience and knowledge oh wise men :)

beleive, me...we are not any "wiser men" than you are.........

correct me if im wrong too guys......but im pretty sure the 320KM/h speedo is a Nismo aftermarket option.

yes, it can throw off the original cars KM/h with aftermarket tacho...unless it was installed as a factory option in the first place...but whos to know?

but some external signs of wear can sort of pinpoint its usage....seats are an obvious indication...but then again...it can be replaced fairly easily with another used one that is newer..or just things that arent usually easily replaced... I.e the carpets near the feet...

and a compression test on the pistons can too...

and if you notice....alot of the cars have Low KM...which can be 2 things.....it genuinely does have low KM...or the speedos tampered with.

and for a 1999 model car.....sometimes with 20,000km ..and i mean sometimes...can be too good to be true.

and im pretty sure the carbonfibre rear diffusers are the same on the series 2 & v-spec 2 models

trust me.....if you do a search.....there are alot on the car you can learn

thank you,

is it true that when the nismo gauges are installed they start from zero? so clearly if they were installed 3 years after purchase there could be any amount?

i get what your saying with the inspection of condition and i will be spending the money to inspect every aspect of it, idont want to buy the cheapest one to find i got what i paid for type excuse from my beloved rotary friends, i want them to be saying... why didnt i think of that also before spending another 50-70k on an old car... :)

im not a big fan of aftermarket guages.....and i dont like the Nismo tacho colour aswell.. but i assume they will start from 0 if they are brand new?

unless its a used 2nd hand one bunged into the one to be sold then obviously they will put one with lower mileage.

the gtr, vspec and vspec II come with 180 Kmh speedos. The Nur, ztune etc come with 320 Km/h.

I still think to get a good genuine GTR and Vspec here, your looking at over 50k, vspec II over 65k

Before I bought mine, I looked at several, and those cars you see floating around the 50k mark weren't that good in my eyes. Do a search here and you can see what some people experienced.

Vspec 2 has a few little things which make em unique: the clean indicators, alluminium pedals, intake and exhaust temp on the MFD, removal of drivers side handle, black radiator, black interior, brushed gear trim and a little sticker on the back that says vspec 2 lolz.

umm yeah the ones that are cheap are cheap for a reason; i imported mine for 4.3 million yen at the time + duties and compliance bumped it up to 67ish k but i got a near perfect example.

Love the car to death, its soooooo tough and attention grabbing...oh and with my basic mods its a torquey gt car.

i have the 320km/h dash... would prefer the stocker but i do have service books so im sure it was added at factory; has 26,000kms on it now....can always tell if its genuine by the condition of mats and the drivers seat wear.

I'm gonna give myself a free plug - I'm heading to Japan next week on a buying trip. but the exchange rate is breaking my balls at the moment.

The other free plug is for SLED's car - PM him, because his V-Spec is definitely worth a look.

All Nur edition cars did not come with 320klm nismo clusters they came with special nissan clusters that went up to 300klm Z tunes came with the nismo 320klm speedo standard all other standard nissan models came with 180klm speedos also another thing to note on v-spec ,v-spec II and m-spec models on the tacho the 1 to 3 rpm range will be compressed where as on the standard non v-spec model they are not. All the nismo parts were options from factory so nismo speedo's could be installed from the dealership so they can have genuine kays but you would really need service history and what not to go off the klm's

oh and yes their is a difference in the rear diffusers but very hard to tell, if you have a sales brochure (book) on the v-spec and v-spec II you can see it on the v-spec II the carbon weave is larger more apparant the fins are slightly different not the shape but where the bolts fit them to the diffuser it is recessed in were as the v-spec one is not, the metal plate at the front of the diffuser is slighly different and also the two pieces that sit on either side where they attach is slighly changed . I know Le Mans did make up the diffusers for nissan so i think they just changed a few things unless they contracted another company to supply them, but very hard to tell the difference unless you had them side by side

    • Thanks for all the replies fellas. Gonna finish putting it back together and see how it handles the set up. If it starts pinging it’ll be parked.
    • Well, I can recommend the partial AV system translation CD I ordered from Car Audio Workshop in NZ. Whilst it didn't address the date issue, it has conveniently translated on-screen menu items into English, and now allows the GPS-received time to be offset in hours rather than minutes, so I can display Eastern Australian time accurately ( and bump it by another hour when daylight savings starts ).
    • Yuh, if it's 45°C outside, my car is driving in it.
    • I'd be curious to hear more. Otherwise, have you driven a modern x-trail? I wonder how it compares. Here in Australia they are/were popular for rentals and fleet vehicles. I have been in some and my impression was they are bad. But, this may have been very different in the 2000s at a good trim level. Twenty years is plenty of time to make the model worse. I do very much agree with the 2 silver cars in the garage approach. But, not driving because it's too hot would not leave a lot of time in the year for many Australians. I don't think you need to worry too much unless the car has actual issues with overheating.
    • Back again. I returned to Japan in Jul/Aug to spend time with the car on my birthday and remind myself what all the sacrifice and compromise is for. It happened to line up with the monthly morning meet in Okutama, which I have been wanting to go to for a long time. It's a unique event at a unique spot with really rare, interesting, and quirky cars. It's where all the oldheads and OGs gather. The nighttime scene at DKF certainly has its place and should be experienced if you're into cars, but there's too much bad attention and negativity around it now. IMO the better time is Sunday morning at DKF or Okutama; it's more chill and relaxed. I'm glad I was finally able to go, but not sure it's worth the drive from all the way from Nagoya immediately the day before, unless I was already staying in Tokyo for the days right before the meet, because you have to wake up quite early to make it in time. Funnily enough though I didn't drive the car all that much this trip because it was just too damn hot. While there were zero issues and running temps were nominal and the A/C was strong, RBs already run crazy hot as it is. Sure, it took it all like a champ but something about driving these cars in the ridiculous heat/humidity bothers me and makes me feel like I'm asking too much of it. I'm just me being weird and treating the car like a living thing with feelings; I'm mechanically sympathetic to a fault. Instead I was mainly driving something else around - a KX4(silver) 2001 X-Trail GT, that I acquired in May. There's a few different flavors to choose from with Xs, but visually it's the Nissan version of the Honda CR-V. Mechanically it's a whole different story as this, being the top-trim GT, has an SR20VET mated to a four-speed auto and full-time AWD! It was a very affordable buy in exceptional condition inside and out, with very low mileage...only 48k kms. Most likely it was owned by an older person who kept it garaged and well-maintained, so I'm really happy with how it all worked out. It literally needs zero attention at the moment, albeit except for some minor visual touch-ups. I wanted something quirky, interesting, and practical and for sure it handily delivers on all three of those aspects. I was immediately able to utilize the cargo and passenger capacity to its full extent. It's a lot of fun to drive and is quite punchy through 1st and 2nd. It's very unassuming -in the twisty bits it's a lot more composed than one would think at a glance- and it'll be even better once I get better tires on it(yes, it's an SUV but still a little boat-y for my liking). So...now I have two golden-era Nissans in silver. One sports car and one that does everything else; the perfect two-car solution I think👍 The rest of the trip...I was able to turn my stressed brain off and enjoy it, although I didn't quite get to do as much as I thought. I did some interesting things, met some interesting people, and happened into some interesting situations however, that's all for another post though only if people really want to know. Project-wise, I went back to Mine's again to discuss more plans and am hoping to wrap that up real soon; keep watching this space if that interests you. Additionally, while working in the tormenting sweatbox that is the warehouse, I was able to organize most of the myriad of parts that my friend is storing for me along with the cars, and the 34 has a nice little spot carved out for it: And since it can get so stupid hot in there, that made it all the more easy -after I was standing there looking at the car and said 'f**k it'- to finally remove all the damn gauges that have mostly been an eyesore all this time. Huzzah. The heat basically makes the adhesive backing on the gauge mounts more pliable to work with, so it was far less stressful getting this done. I didn't fully clean it up or chase the wiring though; that will happen once I have the car in closer possession. Another major reason to remove all that stuff is to give people less reasons to get in my car and steal s**t while it's being exported/imported when/if the time comes, which leads us to my next point... ...and that is even though it's time in Japan is technically almost up since it's a November car and the X would be coming in March, I'm still not entirely sure where my life and career is headed; I don't really know what the future looks like and where I'm going to end up. I feel there's a great deal of uncertainty with me and as a result of that, it feels like I'm at a crossroads moreso now than any point in my life thus far and there are some choices I need to make. Yes, I've had some years to consider things and prepare myself, however too much has happened in that time to maintain confidence and everything feels so up in the air; tenuous one might say. Simply put, there's just too much nonsense going on right now from multiple vectors. Admittedly, I'm struggling to stay in the game and keep my eyes on the prize. So much so in fact, that very recently I came the closest I ever have before to calling it quits outright; selling everything and moving on and not looking back. The astute among you will pick up on key subtext within this paragraph. In the meantime I've still managed to slowly acquire some final bits for the car, but it feels nice knowing there's not much left to get and I'm almost across that finish line; I have almost everything I'll ever want for my interpretation and expression on what it is I think an R34 should be. 'til later.
