  • 1 month later...

just want to know who imported it? cos there is no australian compliance plate on it anymore = :3some: for me

or does anyone have it? its got an aussie vin on the rego papers and stuff but just not one on the car itself

I wouldnt be too worried about it mate, the driveline has been replaced :) I imported it and if I recall I had it about 2 years roughly. Then ross bought it but he treated it really well and resprayed it etc, after that I have no idea.

It didnt get a compliance plate because it was imported under the "15 year rule" (now the 30 year rule), therefore it only had to meet a few minor standards such as new aust spec seatbelts (hence why its only a 4 seater - it came as a 5 seater), non convex drivers mirror(hence flat bit of mirror glued to original haha). Other than that it had to meet a general roadworthy for Tasmanian Transport. SO, that said, it never had, nor did it require a compliance plate :) Oh and the VIN on the firewall is the stock Nissan one, no numbers were put on the car at all. You should see the import papers - theres pages and pages and pages!.....

Heres one of the pictures as it sat in the caryard in Japan:

do you have the import papers?

its just that i'll be going up to qld at the end of the year for about 3 months and they absolutely love imports so it would be great if i had something to wave in their faces when they ask as i doubt they would know about the 15 year old rule and all that

another question tho, howcome the vin on the rego is different to the one stamped on the car? surely there would have to be some documentation to say what its aus vin is?

oh and any idea if its all stock inside the motor? i swear it redilnes at 8500 (but could have been more)

the aus vin 'should' be the same , except add like 6u9000 + ecr32456789(example) and it 'should' be stamped on the strut tower , compliance for 15y/o+ imports used to be : baby seat bolts on rear shelf , adr approved seat belts , flat mirror and roadworthyness :P , now its pre 88 which is easier (you don't have to stamp the vin now pretty much)

Yeah I have all the papers, there is literally over 150 pages... the modifications the car has would be more of a worry than the import documents imo.

That VIN on the firewall was there from the factory, I promise :D, as for why the VIN is different on the rego papers - I have no idea! Maybe they assign it an Aust number on the papers which references to the one on the car when they look it up on the computer? I'm not sure.

    • Ok thanks..that was my second question if i can somehow bypass this even with Nistune(that is all i have right now...aparat from stock ECU. So with some aftemarket it can by "bypassed" or make it work?  I know there is Link or Haltech (mainly used). We have ECUmaster here so i will gather some info about it.
    • Yes. You will need to get the original boost sensor and wire it in. That is.... if you plan to use a stock ECU - even a Nistuned ECU. The Nissan ECU will not operate correctly without it connected. And yes, it will do annoying stuff like you are experiencing. You will almost certainly be better off with some aftermarket ECU, than trying to hunt down rare sensors.
    • Ok so ABS/TCS is "not" the problem. Yeah i know now about the ABS with Nistune(i told that to the Nistune guy) but iam not 100% why or why i dont have ABS. ABS cube is in the engine (always has been) but i had braked couple of times rly hard and brakes just locked and scream. Does all Skylines have ABS cube? That boost sensor https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/367633-wtb-r34-gtt-turbo-pressure-sensor-pics-inside/ Is this it? I need to ask but i have a picture of engine bay and i do not see that (100% is not in that place) If i do not have this the car can do what mine is?(cutting around 4000 rpm) Here is the pic of my engine bay(only one i have) BUT i think i dont have that cuz loom was used from my RB20DE NEO and i know (obviously) that it does not have boost control or any wire to that...) so maybe that is the problem? (i dont know for 100% if that car where the engine is from had that)...but i dont have the loom from that
    • I'm with you here. It's either loom has an issue, OR, injectors are not functioning properly. It could even be they're just constantly dribbling, hence the wet, but not firing.
    • Depending on how long the car sat it is very possible for injectors to be stuck open or closed, I'd get them cleaned and flow tested. Other than that, obviously when the loom changes and the car doesn't start any more....the loom is suspect so some tracing / comparing may be required
