Hi Guys

I just picked up my Stagea last week and have to say I'm over the moon with it. Have always thought they were cool cars but you have to own one to really appreciate how cool they are I think :)

Mine is a black '99 RS4 Dayz edition. Just a tad over 80000kms on the clock and the condition of the interior supports the kms. I bought the car from a seller in Sydney, normally I would import one myself but it with the weak AUD it worked out line ball to buy this one locally (I did get an amazingly good price on it, even factoring in shipping from Sydney to Melbourne) and I really was in need of a daily as I sold my Forester some months ago.

Anyway, I've been reading through all the threads and absorbing as much info as possible and it's great to see such a tight knit community ;)

Don't let my vendor status fool you, I'm really a nice guy and not here to try and sell you stuff, just here to say g'day and learn some more about my new car!

Which brings me to my next question - where is the stacker?! I can't find it ;)

Please excuse the crappy pic, I'll take pics once she's had a good cleanin'

Cheers

Aaron

Why hello there!! :)

does this mean that you will be buying after market parts for Stagea's now!!! ;)

might pop in sometime soon and have a look.

Naveed.

LOL - I've been sitting on Yahoo for the last week straight looking at stuff! And keep reminding myself that it's a daily and I don't need to do anything to it. But, as per usual, epic fail on that front ;) Come on over and bring your Stag too ;)

Thanks Tangles and Chook - it looks like my car is stacker free, but my best mate has a white car that has a stacker intact which he's not using as he has an aftermarket headunit in there, so I'll snaffle that and hope it works.

Really need to detail the car now. Also it has tiny tiny wheels with rubbish offsets (stock rims ftl!) which I need to replace - all in good time!

Welcome to the Stagea fold!

I've beem looking for months on IM for Stagea parts, and have found some nice little goodies here and there, but haven't actually bought anything yet. It's a shame the Oz dollar's value against the Yen (and everything, for that matter) has dropped so badly...

Yes much the same here had my stagea for just over a week and am loving every second in the car, by far the best car i have ever been in or driven

welcome mate, i've had mine very close to 6 months now (rego's up next week) and i absolutely love it! glad to hear your happy with it. In the 6 months of owning it, ive learnt a hell of a lot about them and turbo cars in general, all thru this helpful little discussion, kudos to everyone on here for making it a tight knit kind of family feel where everyone is jumping at the chance to help each other out. its fantastic

Welcome Welcome

definately a good choice in car.... cant believe i thought of selling it..

Owned my stag for over 3yrs now and out of the 12, it has been on of the best cars i have owned...

Melbourne cruise is definately in order....

i still have the las map we used for the last cruise (2yrs ago)

alway here oto help out where i can Aaron (and the rest of the Melb crew)

Cheers

Ian

What a great bunch of welcoming people :(

It sure does suck re the aussie dollar vs the yen, but on the upside, I'm watching stuff selling for half the price that it would have sold for 6 months ago quite often so bargains are definitely there for the taking if you're watching closely :D

It seems a recurring theme is that we need a Stagea meet up and cruise and I'd definitely be down for that. Would even be happy to throw on a BBQ at Import Monster HQ as it's a good place to meet and show our cars off, we have heaps of parking in a semi private factory complex so if anyone would be up for that, I'll fire up the BBQ and get some snags in then we can go for a cruise (or Vice Versa, cruise, then lunch)

Welcome to the club. I've had my '96 RSFV for just over 4-years/60000km now, and it's been the most useful car I've owned.

The perfect family car, a nice cruiser, and plenty fast enough for the most part.

I too planned on leaving it stock, (which I also intended to do with the DR30, and the Z - but they're both another story...) but then the transmission cooler topic came up, and then the R34 intercooler topic came up, then the JJR dump pipe topic came up. Is there a pattern forming?

But seriously, you will find it a lovely car to drive. And if you do feel like expensing some 'promotional' parts for the business, you'll certainly be able to wake it up into something much more than it's appearance would lead you to believe.

    • Yeah nice idea, you mean to suction it to the gauges? I hadn't thought of that.
    • A few suggestions: Do you have the option of retarding your exhaust cam gear to bring the power band over to the left? VCT would be turned off after you make peak torque, you see the power/torque will decay faster with it left on all the way to the limiter Once VCT is turned off, you'll find the motor will take a bit more timing being ramped in Send its mum, more boost! Of course, depends on your exhaust pressure.
    • Tow a boat... people won't know wtf is going on 🤣
    • I was back on the dyno again yesterday after completely revamping my methanol injection system. I was making 440kw at 19psi. Great, this is more then I was making last summer with my old meth system at that pressure, and I figured it would be smooth sailing up to 30+psi. We continued increasing from there and by 25psi, I had only hit 455kw. Dyno sadly lost utility power at this point and I left. We seemed to be on course to hit the same power wall as last summer (477kw@27psi). This is a built RB25 S1 stroked to a 2.8. Built and ported head with Kelford 272/262 cams. Precision 6466 Turbo. Tuner last year believed the power wall is a mix of RPM limitations (Hydro lifters/Limit set at 7600RPM) and fueling. With my new meth system, we're seeing zero knock now but it still won't go up.  What else can I do at this point? Here's my train of thought.  - It's clear from the dyno graph that I would easily make power to 8500+RPM but I'm limited to 7600RPM. I could risk increasing my limiter, but hydro lifters have me worried. What are my options here besides going NEO head or solid lifter conversion? I'm rocking a 1.05AR turbine on my 6466. Would dropping down to a .84 help shift that power down in anyway? - We're only seeing roughly a 30kw difference at the top end with VCT on or off. Is this normal? I want to confirm VCT is working properly. - Should I look into other cam options?  - Should I just keep increasing boost and see if she wakes up later on? I would expect to hit 600rwkw around 35psi with my 6466.
