So...I just got back to the car after doing some shopping to find both drivers side doors dented and my drivers mirror pushed all the way forward. The rear door has a 1-2 inch long vertical dent (not TOO bad, but can be seen quite visible when looking along the door), with the front door dent being pretty obvious and missing some paint.

I spoke with the Westfield Security who don't even have video surveilance of their carparks, so not much I can do to find out who did it.

The car was previously in mint condition, and it just makes me so angry that someone would do this without leaving a note. The MOST annoying thing is that its probably not worth losing my no-claim bonus over to get repaired under insurance.

Any panelbeaters around Blackburn/E. Suburbs Melbourne who would have a guess as to how much for a respray of the two side doors/fender if required? (cash job).

Cheers,

Tommy

I feel your pain mate.. i left my Stag parked in a shopping center carpark to come back to a long scratch from the front guard to the rear door! looks to have either been done with a key or a buckle on a handbag..

Sorry to hear about your wagon, man. Sounds like you might have fared a bit worse than mine. Are you going to get the damage repaired or simply leave it as is?

Doesn't it just grind you when you try and take pride in something and keep it looking great only to have some nong come along, ding it up and then not even take responsibility....I can feel that vein in the side of my neck pulsating as I type

As much as it makes me wanna cry everytime i get in the car i'll probably just leave it as id need the whole drivers side pretty much resprayed and will cost a fair bit.. not worth making a claim through insurance as im 20 and the excess on my insurance is rediculously high.. plus the only money that will be spent on the car will be new front bar, new intercooler, turbo & dump and aftermarket ecu.. maybe full respray if i keep the car for awhile

yup, my rear bar has been cracked at the r.h. corner, and while the engine was being worked on someone keyed the bonnet and r.h rear door

great

going to save for a full spray one day

That shit allways happens ,I had a trolley mark in my rear passenger door just before xmas and because my alarm has a blue scaner light somebody didn't like it and smashed my bonnet VERY bad place to park shopping centers (that's one of the reasons i took my front badge off) +in new years eve coming home one f@#%^&* idiot throw some drink to my car will my wife was driving (lucky she was a little sleepy and didn't react).

BTW in which westfield did it happen?

thtas not cool man, my stag had it's mirror kicked or ripped off in the first week buy some ass hole near a local pub and my previous car was vandalised at westfield eastgardens by teens, they

had keyed every body panel and threw a rock through the back window for good measure, the result was a 7K full body respray of at the time a 4 month old car.

i took my front badge off within a few weeks of getting it to avoid being badged, thinking of taking the rears off too to avoid scratches from someone else trying... Is it just that Stikaflex? stuff, so a head gun(being careful not to f**k the paint) work?

Ask TJ he fully debaged this stag...I recon a hair dryer should be enough (just to avoid the OMG WHID!? of the heat gun... :D )

hey mate i debadged my whole stag (minus the nissan rear badge for obvious reasons) but yeh i got the badges off with a flathead and an old tea towel (be careful not to rip it thru the tea towel, and then for the sticky stuff i got some eucalyptus oil and a rag and WHOLE lot of elbow grease lol, but yeh it comes off eventually :geek:

Happened to mine on the top level of the Doncaster 'Shoppingtown' Westfield. I always try and park next to a pylon or against a wall where possible - give you a 50% less chance of having someone open their door into you!

Has anyone used/seen PDR - Dentek? http

I'm thinking because the chipping is only quite small, they could touch this up and use the paintless dent removal tools to fix the bodywork? Apparently SAU Vic members get 10% off the bill too. Wonder how much this is? Has to be way cheaper than panel beating/respray yeah?

i copped 3eggs to the drivers side door one night, about 12days after getting the car and same night i help my miss's and her family move into a new area.

oh doncaster .... that place if messed up.

took me 15mins to even get in the carpark, then another 30mins looking for one, made an enemy with a women and a giant x5 bmw, stupid mole bring that tank to a cramp carpark, 'no i will not let you in'.

yeah mine is debaged, did it myself before some punk does it for me without respect to the paint.

BKC34 howcome you left the nissan badge ? no reason to it. its only glued on there.

and i used some thing i got at bunnings, used to remove glue from plastic and metal, leaves no marks, but takes a long time to clear all the glue of the car. in the end i just used citris spray. 3 sprays and about 15seconds of wiping, all good and gone.

but yeah im waiting for the day mine gets damaged, i can finally get my mirror rust fixed, i mean why paint the same panel twice...

sorry for the rant!

Fark yeh, its coming off tomorrow then lol, for some reason i thought that one was bolted on or sumthin :S

I got in touch my my insurer (Just Car) today. Without knowing who did the damage, I'm up for $500 excess, which is completely not worth it.

I gave John from PDR Dent-Tek a call; he quoted around $200 to get both the dings out. I'll let you know after he has a go at it what sort of result we get!

Really pleased with the result! John did an awesome job with the paintless dent removal - it's really quite hard to spot where it was. Highly recommended.

Glad you are happy with the repair.

Can you possibly PM me the details?

I need to remove some dents from mine.

2 small in roof from an 8 inch thick tree branch that came down in strong winds, snapped over roof & scratched down and dented the bonnet :D

1 in passenger rear door... shopping centre... I figure it was a car door from a 4WD considering height and angle :)

mmm... much anger held inside, but what to do?

Anyone know a GOOD dent repairer around the Frankston area?

Thats no good about your dents. I would talk to your local council; often, fallen limbs of street trees etc can be their responsibility.

On presentation of a current SAU Vic membership card, you will receive a 10% discount.

He is based in S.E Suburbs of Melb (Cheltenham I think?), but is a mobile service - I'm pretty sure he'd get out to Franky.

Good luck with the repairs.

    • I drive the Tiguan much harder than the Skyline in all conditions, because it just grips and hooks, unlike the R33 shit box
    • The rain is the best time to push to the edge of the grip limit. Water lubrication reduces the consumption of rubber without reducing the fun. I take pleasure in driving around the outside of numpties in Audis, WRXs, BRZs, etc, because they get all worried in the wet. They warm up faster than the engine oil does.
    • When they're dead cold, and in the wet, they're not very fun. RE003 are alright, they do harden very quickly and turn into literally $50 Pace tyres.
    • Yeah, I thought that Reedy's video was quite good because he compared old and new (as in, well used and quite new) AD09s, with what is generally considered to be the fast Yokohama in this category (ie, sporty road/track tyres) and a tyre that people might be able to use to extend the comparo out into the space of more expensive European tyres, being the Cup 2. No-one would ever agree that the Cup 2 is a poor tyre - many would suggest that it is close to the very top of the category. And, for them all to come out so close to each other, and for the cheaper tyre in the test to do so well against the others, in some cases being even faster, shows that (good, non-linglong) tyres are reaching a plateau in terms of how good they can get, and they're all sitting on that same plateau. Anyway, on the AD08R, AD09, RS4 that I've had on the car in recent years, I've never had a problem in the cold and wet. SA gets down to 0-10°C in winter. Not so often, but it was only 4°C when I got in the car this morning. Once the tyres are warm (ie, after about 2km), you can start to lay into them. I've never aquaplaned or suffered serious off-corner understeer or anything like that in the wet, that I would not have expected to happen with a more normal tyre. I had some RE003s, and they were shit in the dry, shit in the wet, shit everywhere. I would rate the RS4 and AD0x as being more trustworthy in the wet, once the rubber is warm. Bridgestone should be ashamed of the RE003.
    • This is why I gave the disclaimer about how I drive in the wet which I feel is pretty important. I have heard people think RS4's are horrible in the rain, but I have this feeling they must be driving (or attempting to drive) anywhere close to the grip limit. I legitimately drive at the speed limit/below speed the limit 100% of the time in the rain. More than happy to just commute along at 50kmh behind a train of cars in 5th gear etc. I do agree with you with regards to the temp and the 'quality' of the tyre Dose. Most UHP tyres aren't even up to temperature on the road anyway, even when going mad initial D canyon carving. It would be interesting to see a not-up-to-temp UHP tyre compared against a mere... normal...HP tyre at these temperatures. I don't think you're (or me in this case) is actually picking up grip with an RS4/AD09 on the road relative to something like a RE003 because the RS4/AD09 is not up to temp and the RE003 is closer to it's optimal operating window.
