cool thanks for clarifying. its a minor defect..

Anyone go a stock r33 s2 exhaust i can borrow?

Maybe it might be better to get your exhaust fixed, for such minor mods you dont need such a free flowing exhaust, all its going to do is get you another defect, next time it will probably be a full rwc, you got off easy this time.

Hey guys, am a bit confused what to do here, most of the stuff are back to stock the only thing is my muffler still looking for a stock muffler. I check on vicroad web site and this is what they state; I have not recived a letter from the EPA and i dont have a defect sticker on my windscreen??

How do I clear a Victorian defect notice?

The defect notice will specify what you need to do to clear the defect notice. One of three types of requirement will be stated on the notice:

  • Self Clearance - You are responsible for repairing defects mentioned in the defect notice and you must sign Section 8 of the Defect Notice once the defects have been repaired. You will also need to forward the "blue" copy of the Defect Notice to VicRoads.
  • Clearance by VicRoads - You do not need to obtain a Certificate of Roadworthiness. However, you must present the vehicle for inspection to a VicRoads Customer Service Centre to ensure that the defects are rectified and the Defect Notice is removed. No appointment is necessary.
  • Certificate of Roadworthiness must be obtained - You must present a Certificate of Roadworthiness obtained in respect of the vehicle, dated after the date of issue of the Defect Notice, at a VicRoads office. You must not remove the defect label. If the label is present, the vehicle must be presented at a VicRoads Customer Service Centre for removal. If the label is not present, ie where the windscreen was replaced or where a label was not attached, the vehicle does not have to be presented.

Defect notices issued by the EPA cannot be removed by VicRoads. The defect notice will state where to go to get the defect notice removed.

If you have not recived a letter from the EPA then your fine and Thank god you didn't get one either cuz they are ahead f**k.

To clear the defect you have to do all the mods on what the notice has told you to do and take it to a VIC Roads centre, there is usually like a 'drive in' where you park your car, swtich it off and wait for a VIC Roads officer to come out or you go in and ask an officer to come out.

Give them the notice, let them read it through and let them see that you have done the changes.

If you pass they will tell you and remove the defect.

Your free to go!

How about this part on Vicroads website

Certificate of Roadworthiness must be obtained - You must present a Certificate of Roadworthiness obtained in respect of the vehicle, dated after the date of issue of the Defect Notice, at a VicRoads office. You must not remove the defect label. If the label is present, the vehicle must be presented at a VicRoads Customer Service Centre for removal. If the label is not present, ie where the windscreen was replaced or where a label was not attached, the vehicle does not have to be presented.

I dont have a defect sticker do i still need to take my car in for inspection?

Sounds like the pig gave you a half ass defect...

So he didn't give you a yellow sticker, but he wants you to goto a mechanic to get a RWC (Road Worthy Certificate) then present it to VIC Roads saying your car is fine.

Get a RWC done from your mechanic, take it to a VIC Roads Centre, explain to them the situation when you got pulled over and present the RWC and the write up from what the pig gave you to tell you want needed to be changed and see how you go.

Cool thanks for clarifying, my next question is; when i go and get a RWC do they need to do a full standard inspection? like tyres, windscreen wipers etc or do i just tell them about the defect get them to check it and write it on the certificate? I got quote $100 bucks for it

Depending on the write up on what the cop gave you...

Was is a major or minor RWC needed?

You only go according to the write up cuz there is no need to fix anything else unless stated on the write up sheet.

In your defence, only give whats needed, cop tells you to fix this, then only fix that, nothing else otherwise you be wasting your time.

Major = Full Inspection, Minor = Standard Inspection, or whatever the system is... Your mechanic will know what to do if its a Full or standard Inspection.

on the defect sheet the minor box is tick.. Cheers for that, at least now i know what to say to the mechanic, coz when i went to the mechanic the first time to get a quote he said that we needed to to this, that and everything..

Cheers mate.

They are simple to take off.

Wet a rag, warm water, hold it to sticker for 5-10mins re-soaking the rag every few mins

Thing should peel off.

Or just take it off soon as the cop drives away, and then stick it on with sticky tape... that isnt legal though... as technically your removing it, but then if its still there then perhaps not as its still "there"

I went with that option, but it is still in my glove box.

    • Have a look at that (shitty) pic I posted. You can see AN -4 braided line coming to a -4 to 1/8 BSPT adapter, into a 1/8 BSPT T piece. The Haltech pressure sender is screwed into the long arm of the sender and factory sender (pre your pic) into the T side. You can also see the cable tie holding the whole contraption in place. Is it better than mounting the sender direct to your engine fitting......yes because it removes that vibration as the engine revs out 50 times every lap and that factory sender is pretty big. Is it necessary for you......well I've got no idea, I just don't like something important failing twice so over-engineer it to the moon!
    • Yup. You can get creative and make a sort of "bracket" with cable ties. Put 2 around the sender with a third passing underneath them strapped down against the sender. Then that third one is able to be passed through some hole at right angles to the orientation of the sender. Or some variation on the theme. Yes.... ummm, with caveats? I mean, the sender is BSP and you would likely have AN stuff on the hose, so yes, there would be the adapter you mention. But the block end will either be 1/8 NPT if that thread is still OK in there, or you can drill and tap it out to 1/4 BSP or NPT and use appropriate adapter there. As it stands, your mention of 1/8 BSPT male seems... wrong for the 1/8 NPT female it has to go into. The hose will be better, because even with the bush, the mass of the sender will be "hanging" off a hard threaded connection and will add some stress/strain to that. It might fail in the future. The hose eliminates almost all such risk - but adds in several more threaded connections to leak from! It really should be tapered, but it looks very long in that photo with no taper visible. If you have it in hand you should be able to see if it tapered or not. There technically is no possibility of a mechanical seal with a parallel male in a parallel female, so it is hard to believe that it is parallel male, but weirder things have happened. Maybe it's meant to seat on some surface when screwed in on the original installation? Anyway, at that thread size, parallel in parallel, with tape and goop, will seal just fine.
    • How do you propose I cable tie this: To something securely? Is it really just a case of finding a couple of holes and ziptying it there so it never goes flying or starts dangling around, more or less? Then run a 1/8 BSP Female to [hose adapter of choice?/AN?] and then the opposing fitting at the bush-into-oil-block end? being the hose-into-realistically likely a 1/8 BSPT male) Is this going to provide any real benefit over using a stainless/steel 1/4 to 1/8 BSPT reducing bush? I am making the assumption the OEM sender is BSPT not BSPP/BSP
    • I fashioned a ramp out of a couple of pieces of 140x35 lumber, to get the bumper up slightly, and then one of these is what I use
    • I wouldn't worry about dissimilar metal corrosion, should you just buy/make a steel replacement. There will be thread tape and sealant compound between the metals. The few little spots where they touch each other will be deep inside the joint, unable to get wet. And the alloy block is much much larger than a small steel fitting, so there is plenty of "sacrificial" capacity there. Any bush you put in there will be dissimilar anyway. Either steel or brass. Maybe stainless. All of them are different to the other parts in the chain. But what I said above still applies.
