Nice pics mate! Well done.

Do you have any more pics of the matt black R33? That thing is fkn SEX!!!!

I probably do man, will have to have a look through my site :)

http://photos.jay019.com/

Looks like a lot of fun (for most people)

Youve captured some great photos :D

i love the vette and the 35GTRs (typically)

Very nice :)

Cheers man. That vette pic was a lucky shot as i tend to only go to drift days. I should look into more motorsports in future.

Got some good news a little while ago. Fast Fours will be publishing some pics and a small article I wrote about G1 Round 2 in a future issue. They also asked me to cover G1 Round 3. Sweet.

Nice dude.. Your getting better and better at this jay :)

Edit:

Congrats man.. Thats excellent news. Hope you get paid or something out of it.. I remember i had a pic published in federal tyres while back and kept asking for a catalogue atleast and got nothing :)

So my advice.. Make sure you get something in return!!

cheers Sid, yeah will be getting paid. They also recently contacted me about covering DA this weekend so hopefully the start of something good.

and as for the pic you quoted, i always try and get photos of the other photographers at events. not sure why, lol. but it kinda has a 'behind the scenes' feel to it.

Pitlane Performance Private Track Day 2 - 14/09/09

The second pitlane performance private day is one you will probably hear about for a while.

It was an awesome day and a heap of fun. There was however a nasty crash in the morning. Justin in his rotor rolla, well um, rolled.

I was down the other end of the track at the time, and missed it. He walked away with a bit of a sore back, but thankfully no other injuries.

I got to try a couple of new angles and see some awesome drifting.

Cheers to the Pitlane boys for holding the day!

Drift Practice - 17th October 2009

First drift practice since daylight savings started which meant an extra hour shooting. Had a try at a couple new angles and some will definately get a revisit in future. Forgot to change the white balance once the lights turned on so a lot of orangey photos, but oh well, you get that sometimes. lol. Anyway, heres what I got. Will add more pics to my site so check there for more.

Drift School

Finally a school that people cant wait to get to. Mallala hosts the Drift School a couple of times a year and it is always a success. It caters for drivers from the most beginner level who wish to learn car control and basic drifting skills up to advanced / competition drivers wishing to hone their skills in a non competative environment. With the states best drifters doing the teaching you are bound to learn something no matter what your skill. I love watching drivers confidence grow during the day ensuring that the afternoon open practice session often leaves me wondering how so many people can learn so much in the space of a single day. If you have ever wanted to try drifting I highly recommend giving the Drift School a go.

More will be added to my site over the next few days so keep an eye on it. I got at least one decent shot of each car out there, I'll add one or two shots of each person to this thread when I have time.

Private Track Day - 28th October 2009

I started organising a track day and things were not working out how I planned so when Team Truck Factory asked to take it over I thought that it was a good idea. I've been to one of their days before and it was well organised so I knew the day would be in good hands. Thankfully the day went down with only a few minor incidents but damn was it hot! Mallala must also have one of the worst breeding grounds for those tiny little flys that like to get in your eyes, ears and nose. lol. I ended up leaving early cause I had enough of being out in the sun, but got a few pics before I left.

G1 Round 3 2009.

Possibly my worst day shooting at mallala. lol. heat, insects and dehydration = grrrr. haha.

Was a good event although didnt have the same feel as earlier rounds.

Massive congratulations to Jake Jones stepping up and taking out the win!

Well done to everyone else who turned up and drove despite the heat.

So, jumped on a plane and jetted over to Hobart for a squizz at the Oz Drift GP. I had never been lucky enough to see Baskerville Raceway before but I am so glad I went into debt to get myself over there. The track is sick! Cambered corners, elevation changes and so many cool shooting locations all make for an awesome track for drift. Was great to see a few mainlanders quickly getting used to the track and treating it as if it was their local. But to see the locals showing how its done was a sight to behold. Ben Purtell's massive drift around the big corner at the top of the track for the extreme entry competition was a highlight of the weekend for me. Another highlight was getting a shot of Nigel Petrie with massive angle on the end of the main straight. Must say a massive thanks to a fellow photographer David Clifford for picking me up from the airport and giving me lifts out to the track after the other offer I had turned out to be... lol. Anyway, I got there and I took some pics:

    • This is how I last did this when I had a master cylinder fail and introduce air. Bleed before first stage, go oh shit through first stage, bleed at end of first stage, go oh shit through second stage, bleed at end of second stage, go oh shit through third stage, bleed at end of third stage, go oh shit through fourth stage, bleed at lunch, go oh shit through fifth stage, bleed at end of fifth stage, go oh shit through sixth stage....you get the idea. It did come good in the end. My Topdon scan tool can bleed the HY51 and V37, but it doesn't have a consult connector and I don't have an R34 to check that on. I think finding a tool in an Australian workshop other than Nissan that can bleed an R34 will be like rocking horse poo. No way will a generic ODB tool do it.
    • Hmm. Perhaps not the same engineers. The OE Nissan engineers did not forsee a future with spacers pushing the tie rod force application further away from the steering arm and creating that torque. The failures are happening since the advent of those things, and some 30 years after they designed the uprights. So latent casting deficiencies, 30+ yrs of wear and tear, + unexpected usage could quite easily = unforeseen failure. Meanwhile, the engineers who are designing the billet CNC or fabricated uprights are also designing, for the same parts makers, the correction tie rod ends. And they are designing and building these with motorsport (or, at the very least, the meth addled antics of drifters) in mind. So I would hope (in fact, I would expect) that their design work included the offset of that steering force. Doesn't mean that it is not totally valid to ask the question of them, before committing $$.
    • The downside of this is when you try to track the car, as soon as you hit ABS you get introduced to a unbled system. I want to avoid this. I do not want to bleed/flush/jack up the car twice just to bleed the f**kin car.
    • But again, the engineers said your cast aluminium would be fine based on the load that would be stretching that section. Same load stretching the bolts in a flex (not the twist), with a much smaller cross sectional area than the original part you've broken. It's why you'd need to be using higher strength bolts, but that's just making up for the strength you lose with less area...
    • I am truly amazed someone on this planet was able to cycle the pump using a scan tool. I've always ghetto cycled them on Nissan 90s shit boxes by slamming the brakes and pulling the handbrake to agitate the rear wheels enough to cause a speed difference
