im in syd, toshi quoted $400 so far which is okay but id prefer dyno tune for that price...

i still havent looked into this solution (ebay chips):

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Nissan-R33-RB25DET-...A1%7C240%3A1318

so please dont bash me for posting this, i just though id bring it up incase anyone reads this post.... still looking for tuner though.

i might try to tune this myself, i have a wideband connected, and a knock sensor...

i was wondering what is involved in editing my r32 ecu, its a moded ecu does that make it easier? if not , then what's involved with editing my r33 ecu?

i have an eprom programmer and this guide:

am i on the right track pps?

fair enough most people here would rather make money then help others, for those who want the help here is a stock rb25det map and adr file:

WELL your half way there buddy. Just need to work out the target timing and fuel maps from the ecr33.bin get your k value and the other global values right. This sould give you a good starting point eg. stock ecr33 maps in r32 computer. Then you can tune it to your hearts content to suit your set up.

Or you can tune from the r32 maps, Just get your global settings right first.

Look on net for info on nissan eccs tuning there is heaps.

Once you have done all that maybe you can provide a free to all base map and long distance tuning service to all and sundry.

Or pay SOMEONE with an EMULATOR and a DYNO to tune it for you.

ive tunned basic stuff like emanage (fuel/timing) and apexi with wideband etc so i dont really wanna pay someone to do a street tune which to me has never been that hard..

i'll 100% post all maps i come with here, ive also ordered the ebay map which ill post here soon too so people can comment on the tune, instead of people just saying "ebay is sh*t" blindly without looking at the tunes =/ (which never made sense to me, yet people go and buy maps of others that are tunned for similar setups...)

Do you have wideband?

I guess you could do the basic stuff without an emulator.

Have you tried running the rb25 with the r32 ecu?

grab the ROM pack from my website, its got RB25DET roms in there along with address file. I've got BINs transplanting RB25DET over Z32 to use as a start. R32 ECU uses TPS switch (R33 doesnt have one) and doesnt have VVT so few issues with using those

thanx for the reply that is very helpful... I understand the issue with VVT no longer being engaged with a rb20 ecu in a rb25, but with the TPS switch issue ive never heard this one before, what limitation does it put on running a rb20 ecu in a rb25 and there have been many reporting of it being done, was there a modification that needed to be done in this transplant

R32 has TPS switch and variable voltage input. R33 only has variable voltage input... so using R32 you are missing the switch input on an R33.

Means that it will not use the TPS Idle control which switches which maps (timing etc) to use. Have a look in my mapping guide on the documentation page at www.nistune.com. I've just gone through the R32 ECU tables with the hardware tracer to determine which maps get used under which conditons

Speedlab (jeff) has coded a firmware change to use the TPS variable voltage input as a switch which I plan to do myself along with VTC external control from a modified board and that would make the R32 a more viable option for R33 tuning

    • Does it also misfire equally when revving?   Josh is very correct in what you should do. The coilpack harness wiring loom itself is a known problem due to its age and the number of heat cycles it has gone through. Throwing parts at a vehicle to diagnose the issue isn't a smart or good way to do it. Secondly, you may have a bad coil pack, you pop replacements in, they fix that issue, but messing with the harness breaks it, so the issue persists. So now you think "well it wasn't the coil packs" and have to continue chasing your tail, potentially swapping back in your shit coil packs and returning the good ones (yes, I've seen people do this because 'it wasn't the problem' and they want to save money). And suddenly, you've got two issues with the same symptoms...   Diagnose, don't use the spare parts shotgun.
