Thanks guys. As anyone who's competed knows, video never conveys how quick we're actually travelling, and most people don't comprehend the difference between an open road and a nice safe circuit. The speedo doesn't work in my car, but anyone watching will know we're in 5th alot and the wipers don't wanna come back down. :) Couple that with seized shocks and a car that just bounces from bump to bump, and I maintain that Timmy is an absolute nutter.

And Snowy.... make all the excuses you want mate, you're just scared to watch them ;):)

Fark me that's one seriously now second hand N1.

and sadly a genuine N1 from what I was told?

we were one of the first cars to come through just after it happened - I was holding my breath as we first saw just the bumper, followed by lots of debris as we went further along, then finally (and thankfully) someone running down the road towards us holding the ok sign.

Hey Ben - any in-car of the stage you caught us (can't remember which one it was sadly but it was Day 1 before lunch?)

Just listening to your maniacal laughing after you caught the GT3 on Elephant Pass.

Would be interesting to hear you when you pass us :)

Yup, Sheffield..... it's uploading now :D How funny was it!

Also have the Go-Pro footage facing back at us for the famous Dunorlan fencing off...... wait to see the look of shock and horror on my face as we leave the tarmac :) lol, although, I don't know if it can compete with Snowflakes girly sqwawk in his recce video?, which funnily enough has been removed from Youtube! LOL

I will forever claim it's because we lost our intercom.... and not that Steve was wearing a skirt that day :)

Snowman's sqwawks have me forever afraid to post any incar ;)

I am still getting over how awsome that event is!!

cant believe some people have done it nineteen times!

Awsome driving Ben!!, like i have said how do you possibly go back to work and explain what you just did when some asks "so how was it?"

so far i have answered with," i am still alive! i didnt crash", "i went passed around 60 + crashes in stage"," it was the most exhilarating thing i have done & the most dangerous" etc etc

it's a credit to anyone who competes in it!

learning pacenoting was a great challenge and it feels fantastic as i learnt to understand and trust the calls.

once again awsome speed shown Benny!!! and of course would never happen without Tim on the left!!

Cheers Squid, appreciatte it, coming from a "Big Show" like you guys that's pretty cool :D:whistling:

Here's some more, lemme know if I'm boring you, but I have no one else to talk to! lol

Our fence on Dunorlan looking back at well, me. Timmy must be shy -

And Elephant Saddle, fast fast at the end. "Ari Vatenen" as we would say lol -

EDIT:

Here's Sheffield catching the Elephant Man and Kel..... -

- ewww, bit ugly @ 4:25. Poor tyre.

Still awaiting process of Liena

Do I spot some hand holding at the end of Sheffield stage ladies? :D

Intercom excuse aside, I can see why you caught us- that was some awesome driving

Thanks for that Kel... smart arse. :)

Here's Liena stage, note the GT3 pushed in front of us thinking we'd hold him up on the stage. Nearly caught him

GT3 has nothing on an old skanky 32 GTS-t :D

** problems with the exhaust system coming apart again on this stage, this time it seperated at the rear collector! So, as the stage went on and it got louder, I knew there was flames aiming at the fuel tank, AND I didn't know if the rear section would hang down and catapult us off the road. All the exhaust dramas stemmed from the huge hit it took the day before on Rossarden stage. Noisy from around 4 minutes.

Hey if there was ever a time for a girly squeel that was it. And the video is only gone due to the polite request by one Mr M. Perry. Because somehow that was actually my fault and shed a bad light on us competitors for the general public.....

Anyways - let me go watch one of you video's Ben (and then get back to work) :)

Haha - if you can Benny watch our Sideling Vids side by side - it's an epic battle until the last 500m! :) And I know why - it's from watching that incar vid of the volvo when you see the lotus spear off there that I went super cautious for that one short section. You don't realise at the time how much of an impact these little back offs can have.

BTW - I've watched our Sideling, Rossarden and Sheffield vids all side by side and it seems your little toy may actually be faster than mine in a straight line. The one thing that definite is that you/your car is faster in the fast bits and me/my car is faster in the slow bits. Rossarden is a great example where at the start you get a massive lead on me before I pull it right back at the end.

Interesting to see really our different strengths and weaknesses. The starts are funny as I'm always leading into turn 1 (no suprise) but because I always start like a wuss until I get confidence in the tyres you are usually caught up or in front by turn 3. LOL

But good stuff - your footage shows you are on it from go through to the red signs - something I need to work on going forwards.

    • 2001 BE5D Subaru Legacy B4 RSK (3rd gen) EJ208 (pink injector) Twin Turbo 280PS 5-speed manual Full time 4WD "RSK" grade which means all of the above LQC option which means stock rear spoiler  I got it primarily to export to someone outside Japan who was interested. These BE5 Legacy B4 RSKs are going through a bit of a resurgence right know in Japan as they are one of the few cars from the "turbo, manual, RWD/4WD, 280hp gentleman's agreement era" cars that don't require stupid money to purchase. Which for some people might be a good opportunity to get as a base for restoration. If I can't find anyone to purchase it I will certainly be doing that myself over the long term. Why? Because it's properly fast in stock form, handles well enough for a GT sedan, there's still enough aftermarket and (if you can wait a while) genuine part support to make it a restoration candidate (<-- that will only get worse over time so it's a case of do it now or choose get a BL5 4th Gen). Mechanically it's fine, has only 89,200kms on the odometer. The problem with this car is that the body and exterior trims are weathered from at least the last 10 years being parked outdoors. I'm the 3rd owner, the first owner was the one that had it for 14 years and barely drove it, had a low-speed front impact (which didn't damage anything behind the radiator support) and got it fixed and sold it. The 2nd owner put most of the kms on it and parked it outside for the last 10 years, hence the door rubbers have seen better days but if you overlook those cosmetic details, it presents pretty nicely. There is some minor rust on the LH rear wheel arch which I'll have looked at too at some stage.  Also as you'd expect from a car this age, the clear top coat is gone, leaving a satin finish on the roof.  Mechanically it's fine (as you would expect from a car with less than 100K kms) but the steering does feel slightly vague around the centre position at higher speeds. So first on the list is to get the steering rack bushes looked at. There's also the Lock button on the remote which doesn't work, but the Open button does.... it means that the anti-theft system thinks it's always open? It seems like if you open the car and don't start the engine within 3 mins or so the anti-theft kicks in again without any beeps or signals. So if you got to start it after that, it won't. You have to push the open button again. That's how I understand it anyway. Just a small irritation but not a big problem to sort out. There's only one mod, the Wangan SPL muffler. Just a tad louder than stock. It's a really good mod for those who don't want to wake the neighbours but still want to hear a more prominent unequal length header EJ20 sound. Anyway I hope to get all those things done eventually, that is unless someone wanted to import it to their country from Japan (where I live). I'm open for negotiations as I really would like a Skyline... but this will definitely suffice in the meantime 🙂 *Disclaimer: This is how I picked it up from the dealer, minus the stuff on the back seat. I haven't cleaned the engine bay or done a thorough exterior clean, aside from spray painting the wipers.
    • Wow, even with the Audi logo centre caps. I love OEM wheel mismatches.
    • Welcome!  Can't go wrong with a Stag.
    • Looks good. Nice height.
    • Hey all, a little help from the Stagea hive mind plz.. I'm days away from buying either a 2002 Stagea 250tRS AR-X Four, premium leather, power seats and all the old switches etc that go with it, or a 2002 Stagea 250tRS VR-X Four AERO, pov pack, cloth seats etc, with coil overs, sports zorst, comes with original zorst and suspension and parts. (I think I've got the models right?) Both are VQ25DET, have 160000kms, both straight no rust both with $2000+ in recent servicing receipts, both ride on aftermarket 18" rims. The Aero has a replaced turbo as well. I like the cool factor of the Aero car but the AR-X has never been modified. Neither have been driven hardly at all in the last 5 years. Any thoughts on which one or does it come down to personal preference? davemoto
