R34 10th Anniversary Charity Cruise N Show N Shine

Recommended Posts

Great to have you all along!

You'll be pleased to know that when "mxfly" posts up the Final Program (by next week), the Start Point will have changed...

to help you ACT guys of course!!!

The Start Point will be at Penrith Regatta Centre opposite P5a and P5b on the Old Castlereagh Road Penrith/Castlereagh

Time will be 9.30am with ETD at 10.30 sharp. This will get us to Mt Wilson by 12 noon.

You'd be best to turn off at the Campbelltown Off Ramp (being careful that Police often park on the grassy strip just before that) >

Turn left towards Narellan where there's a new set of lights that allows you to go straight across onto...

The Northern Road > Turn left just before Penrith onto the M4 >

Take the Mulgoa Road Off Ramp at the 1st Exit and ...

Turn right onto Mulgoa Rd > Go straight ahead even beyond Penrith CBD > Turn left at Old Castlereagh Road ;)

Still come early though, because the Regatta Centre Car Park is very picturesque and we'll have one Japanese lady ("Yuka") in traditional dress at the start. She used to work for a company that had a Skyline GT-R as its flagship; and she's even keen to come on this cruise.

All 7 organisers will be dressed in Orange Shirts.

Regards, Tez

oops forgot about that, well I'll probably stay overnight then, may stay with family, or pick a good hotel somewhere. Anyone recommend a good hotel in Parramatta or the CBD? Been to a few but wouldn't mind a recommendation.

This is where we stay when we go to concerts and events out at Homebush:

I think I'll probs drive home on the day although there's a chance I may stay in the Blue Mountains.

It'll be great to have all Skylines along!

Non-R34s will be in Group#3 (even R35s).

I've checked out to-day that the Pioneer Way Motel Gt Western Hwy Faulconbridge has a driveway gutter that's dead flat at the Entry.

For anyone wanting to stay near the action (20min away from Regatta Ctr) before or after the 26th April, Ph No. = 47512194

Another one is Penrith Valley Inn Memorial Ave Penrith Ph No. = 47311666

This is 5 min from the Regatta Ctr

I've been to a couple of Health Seminars at Rydges Parramatta.

This place has served good food and the gutter entry is not harsh.

Hope this helps,

Hey everyone,

For those of you attending this month's R34 10th Anniversary Charity Cruise, and Show 'n' Shine; here we are announcing the categories in which it is possible to win an award.

All attendees will have the opportunity to have their vehicle judged. And all attendees will have the opportunity to put in votes for the car they think is best on certain criteria. You will note that as it is a day to commemorate the R34 Skyline, all except a few (otherwise stated) awards will be given to R34 Skylines attending on the day. At this stage, the plan is to conduct voting once we reach the photo shoot location at Mount Wilson.

There are 12 categories, as follows:

  1. Best R34 Skyline GT-R
  2. Best R34 Skyline (non GT-R; can be GT, GTt, 4 door, etc)
  3. Best R34 Interior
  4. Best R34 Exterior / Paintwork
  5. Best R34 Engine Bay (judged on workmanship / performance upgrades as well as aesthetics)
  6. Best Wheels on an R34 Skyline
  7. Best ICE / Hi-Fi in an R34 *
  8. Best R32 Skyline
  9. Best R33 Skyline
  10. Best R35 GT-R
  11. Best Non-R32 / R33 / R34 / R35 **
  12. R34 Concourse Award ***

* The In-Car Entertainment / Hi-Fi award is not a sound-off! It will be judged primarily on the quality of workmanship, extensiveness of ICE fitout and the quality of sound produced, NOT raw dB (peak noise output level). Once again we stress that all participants must respect the driving/parking environment that we are in (includes the hearing of members of the public).

** Your favourite attendee's car on the day that is not an R32 or R33 or R34 or "R35", this therefore means it could be a Stagea, S13 / S14 / S15, V35, Z32, Z33 or whatever happens to be there on the day.

*** Obviously Skylines are tuners' cars and it's possible there won't be any completely and utterly 'stock' examples of R34s there on the day, but this award will go to an immaculate, very well looked after R34 that is most likely (but doesn't have to be) very close to original, and epitomises the super happy fun special warm deluxe feeling of R34.

Below are some samples of our certificates to be awarded. Prizes will also be on offer for the lucky winners! A golden opportunity to boost the re-sale value of your Skyline!!!

Update: We are in the process of having these Award Certificates signed by none other than Mr Mark Skaife!

All the more incentive to have your cars looking extra 'fly' on the day, to win a prize and an autographed certificate by the legend himself!

Finally, please note if you are attending, that the start location has now changed. We are no longer meeting at Homebush. The new start location is at the Sydney International Regatta Centre, Penrith. Check out the post in the NSW > Events section for details.

Ok final numbers for Canberra peeps that are coming?

Shall we meet at the Shell servo near Epic and head from there? Either there ore Gungahlin Maccas cause that's where I'll be going first  What time does everyone want to leave and at what point would you like to meet up with the cruise? Shall we aim for Richmond or do we want to just get up to Parra?

Im ok to meet a Gungahlin maccas, easy either way. Not sure of exact times but don't think we should leave much later than 6:30-6:40. I'll probably rock up at the meeting point around 6 ish, for some brekky.

Suprised more people aren't interested in a cruise to sydney, a huge number of R34 GTR's and bells line of road, seems like a good combo to me.

Might be better for me to wait for ya's at the shell servo at epic, as I'll be heading up from tuggers. What time will ya be there ya think, Or should I just be there for 6:30.

    • Could be falling edge/rising edge is set wrong. Are you getting sync errors?
    • On BMWs what I do because I'm more confident that I can't instantly crush the pinch welds and do thousands of USD in chassis damage is use a set of rubber jacking pads designed to protect the chassis/plastic adapter and raise a corner of the car, place the aforementioned 2x12 inch wooden planks under a tire, drop the car, then this normally gives me enough clearance to get to the front central jack point. If you don't need it to be a ramp it only needs to be 1-1.5 feet long. On my R33 I do not trust the pinch welds to tolerate any of this so I drive up on the ramps. Before then when I had to get a new floor jack that no longer cleared the front lip I removed it to get enough clearance to put the jack under it. Once you're on the ramps once you simply never let the car down to the ground. It lives on the ramps or on jack stands.
    • Nah. You need 2x taps for anything that you cannot pass the tap all the way through. And even then, there's a point in response to the above which I will come back to. The 2x taps are 1x tapered for starting, and 1x plug tap for working to the bottom of blind holes. That block's port is effectively a blind hole from the perspective of the tap. The tapered tap/tapered thread response. You don't ever leave a female hole tapered. They are supposed to be parallel, hence the wide section of a tapered tap being parallel, the existince of plug taps, etc. The male is tapered so that it will eventually get too fat for the female thread, and yes, there is some risk if the tapped length of the female hole doesn't offer enough threads, that it will not lock up very nicely. But you can always buzz off the extra length on the male thread, and the tape is very good at adding bulk to the joint.
    • Nice....looking forward to that update
    • Neg, the top one is actually for the front. The sizes are 18x10.5 +18 and 18x11 +32.   I measured many times but I'm sure I'll have problems as this is the thread for problems.
