What Has Been Your Greatest Achievement(s) So Far In Life?

Recommended Posts

SAU has been slowing down a tad lately ... either that or the mods have put the scare into members with starting threads :)

As the title says, what has been your greatest achievement(s) so far in life ... be it becoming a parent or study or other.

:(

Mine:

1st

Standing atop the podium (twice) for a silver medal in international competition, and singing along to the Australian national anthem. Took 3 years of training, travel, diets, prior competitions, blood, sweat and tears to get to that level and make the Australian team 3 times before retiring from competition. Nowdays I just coach, and I still get many small success stories from that.

2nd

Since retiring from sport, working hard at my studies and finishing with uni degrees, a secure job (this is my 10th year), and having two houses to show for it.

3rd

I believe: learning from your mistakes and rising from low moments in life, to come out on top a better and stronger person than before.

I've also had some great achievements with cars (see, it is car related in the end moderators) :P Built a CA18DET powered 1600; SR20 supercharged 200B; Rotary Bluebird; VG30BB turboed Honda CBR drag bike; GSXR race bike. My first success was rebuilding a 250 crossflow drag engine on my uncle's Cortina at the age of 17! I'll never forget that car.

:D

Hmm, yes. I've had some racing achievements too. Nothing too exciting, but achievements for me nonetheless.

Qualifying 12th out of 24 bikes and grabbing 6th position into the first turn (my drag racing experience paid off). I screwed up a few laps later and finished 10th in the end, but that one corner is still talked about.

I hope to add parenthood to my achievements one day. :D

I had a really wicked Farmers Union Iced Coffee about 2 hours ago. Matter of fact, I even got two for $5 at the local Caltex. I'm pretty stoked with that...

Bahahahaha you're a classic Dohmar!!

Ok mine is sports.... was in the Australian Archery team a few years back (quite a few!) Still hold a couple of National records for target and field archery.

Maybe you didn't catch the bulletin Ruby, but non-car-related posts like this are no longer acceptable on SA SAU.

I don't want to come off as a Nazi/ass, but if you want to have a chat about things like this (or your new tattoo/haircut/divorce/toys/job/girlfriend/etc etc) then take it to the Wasteland, one of the non-car-related sections of SAU, or one of the plethora of social networking sites/forums on the Internet.

Due to the large volume of complaints from members to me about bs/non-car-related posts from a host of different people, I have started to crack down and try to get SAU back to what it is supposed to be - a CAR forum.

    • What 1.5 way? There's no such thing really as a 1.5 way, just different ways of explaining 2 ways with different ramp rates. HOWEVER. In any driving in a straight line your 1.5 or 2 or 1.7 way should have no clunking at all. With the clutch fully depressed the diff should be silent (unless it's welded but I'm assuming it's not). Something aint right here.
    • Clutch is a spec brand, new clutch system,( PP, flywheel, friction disc, etc. pull type) installed 100 miles ago, with no problems.
    • looking for some help and maybe some insight on others experience with a new LSD. R34 GT ran and drove beautifully, but always alot of grip loss due to the open R200 rear end, so I just installed a new 1.5 LSD way into the stock open R200 for a ER34. Simple. Everything seemed right. I test drove for the first time this weekend. as I started to back out the garage the first time slowly with tires straight it sounded and felt like I had a loose or half disconnected drive shaft...that was clucking around loose and shaking entire vehicle, and making it feel like the trans clutch was spontaneously slipping then grabbing very roughly while just letting out pedal slowly. I backed it out went to pull forward with the same noise, shake and slip grab feeling with hesitation, I turned the tires to back out more and then pulled ahead some same thing but worst because of added wheel resistance (which that I expected) puzzled … pulling it back in checking everything over and finding nothing wrong, I tried it the next day. same thing, couldn’t believe how it shook everything again making a terrible noise and making it feel like the trans clutch was slipping and grabbing, but I got it out of garage into the driveway, got it straight, drove forward and then reveres a few times in a straight line everything shaking , causing what felt like clutch slip and grab every time, sounded like right behind front driver tire and I could feel it in the floor board with my feet,... worst right when beginning to let clutch pedal out to engage slightly, shuttering and sounding terrible along the way…I managed to slowly get down the road, babying it the whole way, once I was rolling (out of 1st) seemed to be better and between shifts, then clutch felt closer to normal…not slip/ grab etc., but back down to any stop, straight road or turning, same thing. Made no difference if all tires were straight or if I was turning. All other gauge read out correct. with in 2 miles as planned I reached the empty parking lot and performed the break in procedure that came with lsd, essentially to drive in a figure 8 a bunch.  Did this, binding chattering, and shaking the car the whole way. I drove it back home seemed somewhat normal once I was in straight line and past 10 mph or so, and I know it will “bind” on corners and cause some tires squeal when turning especially from a stop, but when I begin to move it still causes what feels like the trans clutch to slip and jerk badly as well as shaking the entire car, and sounds terrible, that I didn’t expect. I used the fluid they supplied with LSD kit and did the breaking, planning to change fluid as they suggest after breaking, but wondering will it get smoother or less aggressive with use? maybe a 1.5 is just too aggressive for normal road driving?   I have a LSD that I put in my 71 cuda when I restored it, with amazing smooth , quite yet effective results. Different style LSD but that ones a joy to drive. maybe expecting too much from this R200?
