Fellas,

Just purchased some rims for my r33 GTS-T, the rear is 18 x 9 +32

Just got a couple of questions:

1) I understand that with this size and offset, I shouldn't have any problems with my car when it's lowered as long as a roll the guard, is that correct?

2) Can someone PLEASE attach some photos of a 265/35/18 tyre on a 18 x 9 rim? I can't find any pics anywhere.

The reason I am asking is because I wanted to see how much the tyre would bulge out from the rim. Different angles would be good too!

Cheerio!

i'll grab you some pics of mine if you remember i posted pic in your rear pod thread as well.

although the angle doesnt show how bulged the tyres are.

i be back in couple of hours of to post pics for you if noone else has already

i have 18x9 +38 in the rear running the 265/35/R18 not sure if it matters but it's got near new falken fk452 on them

That would be great cheif thanks.

Ive got these size tyres and it doesnt buldge out at all. I think the buldge however is related to offset more so than width

And why would offset effect tyre buldge..... i.e. why would +22 offset have more/less buldge than say +40??

Hard to explain with diagrams but if u google the definition of wheel offset (distance between centre of rim and hub mounting face or whatever u call it) you will understand quickly enough.

The more negative the offset the more the wheel will sit out since the mounting is behind the centre and there is more rim width on the outside.

If u really want, tomorrow i will check my offset and take pics so u can see,

Hope this helped.

Cheers

Taso

wait... wat?

Offset is how far in or out from the centre line of your rim that the hub mount is. This has no correlation whatsoever to how a tyre will sit on your rim or how much a tyre's sidewall will flex.

I do

Yeah, offset will only affect the rim's position.

Nothing to do with the tyre.

The tyre, will give the bulge/stretched look.

But, 265's will not bulge, they fit perfectly, ideal size.

Stretched look go for 245? - never done it.

245? sif. man up and get a 225 on it... I'm going to try and get 225/40/18 on my 9.5's in a few weeks  That said, unless you're going stupid low and need to tuck your perfectly flush offset wheels under your rolled guards, then you shouldn't have any valid reason to stretch em.

Haha. As said, never done it before. Never need to

Some people like the look and do it foe that reason.

Along time ago, I thought it was for those that didn't wanna spend the money to get the right siZe.

Sorry mate, i misread the query as how far will the rims sit out from the guards.

Obviously offset will not effect how far the tyres sit out from rims

    • The final part arrived today to un-clampify and simplify the intake Who would have though a 1/2" hose stainless bulkhead fitting designed for below waterline bilge pumps would be what I needed Test fit on a 3" offcut I had laying around to see if it would work, and it worked a treat All going well the intake will be on its "final version" tomorrow
    • Good luck on the weekend mate
    • Must have been an absolute nightmare to drive when the power steer was out, the rack ratio/wheel size/caster is all set up for power assistance
    • Welcome to SAU, what are you looking at buying?
    • I checked the injectors again (1 and 2, since they’re easiest to access) to make sure they weren’t clogged. Even though the entire fuel system had been cleaned, I wanted to be certain. Everything looked clean, so I reinstalled and connected everything. When I started the car to confirm everything was okay, it immediately revved up high, so I shut it off straight away. I checked to see if I’d missed a vacuum hose or something, but everything was connected. On the second attempt, the car ran without the high idle, but I noticed a distinct “compressed air” sound coming from the engine bay. Tracing the sound, I pushed injector #6 forward slightly and the noise stopped — it turned out it wasn’t seated properly, despite the fuel rail being bolted down. While holding it in place, the car idled steadily without stalling and ran for over 5 minutes. At this point, I pulled all six injectors out just in case I hadn’t seated them correctly or dirt had gotten onto the O-rings. Unfortunately, I discovered that I had damaged 3 out of 6 injectors (the OEM 270cc ones) during installation. So yes, this was my fault. Since only the pintle caps were damaged, I’ve ordered a Fuel Injector Service Kit from NZEFI to refurbish them. In the meantime, I reinstalled my new injectors – the car now idles fine for over 15 minutes without stalling. I have not attempted to drive it so far. It’s not perfect yet, as it hesitates when the throttle is pressed, but it’s a big improvement. Unplugging the IACV with the new injectors idles at around 800rpm, even with the IACV screw tightened fully. But this is probably due to tune.
