Inner West Crew Whoretown (toowong/st Lucia/kenmore/indooroopilly And Sometimes Sunnybank?)

So who else besides NRMA and the Suncorp owned companies (AAMI, Just Car, Shannons et al.) insures grey imports? Going to vote with my feet once this is all over and NRMA will only cover my car for $12k at a cost of $1300 a year.

given that you just made an at fault claim you may find it difficult to vote with your feet Boz.

he makes a point :(

yeah shannons is suncorp owned..cant expect to much. I only have it because of the combo of Beetle and skyline was the best with the highest payouts. And from what i understand, Shannons gives loyalty discounts for staying with them.

Well just cars only worked out slightly cheaper than shannons

BUT they did increase they agreed value on the leopard (not much, but at least they were willing to discuss it), both cars are covered for everyday use (leopard was limited use with shannons policy), and no stupid restricted driver policy. They win

Got the smash repair guys doing the work to give me a full, itemised copy of the quote. Only second hand parts they are using is the bonnet and AC fan & shroud. Everything else is brand new, ex-japan. the prices on some of this stuff is just obscene. Nearly $400 for the radiator fan and shroud, front bar is nearly $800 and it looks like a pair of new headlights at $1100 amongst other things. ($570 each and both are listed on the quote) Just under $4,000 in new parts for the front end.

At least the front of my car will look nice and tidy :) One plus I guess. They are also doing a full mechanical assessment over the next couple of days and will send me an itemised quote for mechanical repairs. Downside, IC and radiator are cactus. They are going to see if they can repair them and if not the new assessor I'm dealing with has said he will give PWR a call and see what they can do. Not sure what will happen with the IC as Blitz doesn't make that model any more. This new guy actually seems to give a shit, or maybe my bitching got a response.

Just got a call from Shannons :O in reply to my email yesterday.

Spoke to someone who was much more helpful, and explained to me the restricted driver condition in more detail. It's not quite as bad as I thought, but still a bit of a pain, and they still want to put it on both cars.

They were happy to increase the value of the leopard by the same amount as just car however, and said they would be happy to talk about increasing it further if they can inspect the car.

Much happier with the service this time round, they are going to send me an updated quote and we'll go from there.

Maybe I just spoke to the wrong person the other day...

That happens too, I have had vastly different experiences with them depending on who the person is.

To get the ECU to power up, you just need to provide power to the ECCS relay, and have the other power feeds that come in from the top left of the wiring diagram (wrt the ECU) that give perma power to the fuel pump relay, the ECU itself, etc etc, all connected. When you put power on all these it will just come to life. It's pretty clear from the diagram what needs to happen. Just follow the lines from the 12V + supply stuff in the top left over towards the ECU. I've even posted snips of such diagrams (not for vanilla 25, I think for Neo and 26) to various threads here in the last few months, talking about what it takes to get the fuel pump and FPCM up and going. Search these up and they will help get you started on doing the same with the vanilla 25 diagram. Hell, for all I know, I've done the same with that one in years past and have forgotten.
    • Yep...so unless someone posts up the answer you will need to probe from the ECU connector to the dash plug with a multi meter in continuity mode to trace the wires.  Note the ECU has multiple - and + (and across different key settings - Battery, IGN and Start) and most likely the power is fed from the connector(s) that is normally near the left hand headlight.
    • Thanks Duncan, I am actually just trying to get the Rb turning and running with the RB25DET S2 original loom itself  I am just trying to get it going outside the body and not thinking about the S15 or trying to match anything to the S15 loom at all I am only trying to see if anyone has done this and what pin they found to be the ignition trigger and ECU+/- on the dash connector, that's about it. Thanks
    • Hi Guys, Does anyone know any aftermarket part numbers for a starter motor to suit the VQ25DET? I can find lots of alternative part number for the VQ35DE, which I assume would fit, but there is a lot of conflicting information out there. Thanks..
    • I don't understand how this hasn't boiled down to - Upgrade the turbo when you have everything required. ECU, injectors, fuel pump, turbo, etc. Do it all at once.  If you don't have everything required, just enjoy the car as it is and keep saving up your pennies.
