Morning mangs,

S2 and that would be grand

Bummer, that means I need to figure out what wire it is :(

Shouldn't be too hard though.

bludging net access off mcd wifi.

Good form

martin, should have a number for you today. hoping to get the 31 on a hoist today at some point as well.

Thanks!

Another glorious morning

Sh*t weather is sh*t.

Boz, you getting the 34 back this week?

+1

Sorry guys. Me having so much free(ish) time is what's causing all this weather, obviously. I mean all the bad weather started about an hour after i finished the work i was doing on the holidays.

This day just won't end.....

Tempted to schedule in a phantom meeting for the afternoon and knock off early.

Does anybody know where I can call for some light guard flaring?

Not game to do it myself. My rolling job was a bit agricultural so not game to do much else.

Sexy Dave rolls guards for beer.

If the flare you need is just pulling it out with the guard roller then he can probably do that for you too. How effective it is will depend on a number of factors though. If you've already munted the guards with a dodgy rolling job it won't help.

Spoke to smash repair guys late last week and I should be picking her up late tomorrow or early Thursday :)

Here's hoping that holds true! And also hoping they kept at least two degrees of camber on the wheels as I requested. Want it closer to three but that may be a bit of overkill.

Hey Guys.

Here's hoping you get your car before the weekend Boz.

As for guard rolling, take a look at what I've been doing. Fitting the Telstar around some 18 x 9.5 +25's. I cut the outer skins and have pulled them from the inners. The door sills needs a major tidy up, but have got a set of hammers and dollies. Will be welding up the rest this weekend. I'll be doing the same with the door skins. The skins have been pulled by about 1".

Still to work on the door and to tidy up the front guard. The pic of the pulled rear guard makes it look like there is big dent in the flare bit, but it's acutally black paint.

seems weather has something to do with it.

spent most of today under a mack truck and under a 4wd and under a white 2 door thing.(31)

there is a about half a page of changes I need to make to it for it to be 110% legal. until such time it will have instant rego whilst I move it around place to place.

seems this car is similar to the 32. the chassis rails are just as easy to bend. found where it had been jacked wrong and thats one of the points on the RWC paper. thats easily fixed - panel guy can sort it.

joys of old cars :)

Love the rims Scott.

I don't even remotely have the right tools to attempt something like that.

I might give the guy from precision rolling a call and see what he says.

Otherwise may wait a while and go see camerons body works

Why must people camp in the right hand lane doing ten ks under the limit, next to the only other car on the road?

shit blokes.

I loved driving in Europe. The instant someone did that they would have an angry Italian man in a fiat punto two inches from their back bumper, using the horn to morse code M.O.V.E O.V.E.R F.U.C.K.E.R whilst texting his cousin to buy more kappa track suits to wear with his socks and sandals.

looks like raining most of the week too Chris :(

Can't seem to find an S2 wiring diagram Bodo, will have to wing it

all good, im sure we can sort it out, thanks for looking :woot: ....and yes this weather is balls....soo sick of it. i dont think ive had a complete fortnight of work all year yet :(

    • That was the first session so not a lot to take from the day. It was low 20s ambient and the coolant had got to 110 (and obviously had some pressure!) so that still needs to be addressed. I haven't downloaded the data yet but will. I had refilled the auto trans with Redline DT6 because it claimed the best viscosity I could find at 100o. It wasn't really long enough to get a good feel for that; while the trans got to 100o in the session it still wasn't shifting crisply as I hoped. I think I'll try a few more sessions before judging. No steering motor overheat but I'd hope not in only 1 session! But finally the suspension; it was night and day over the standard stuff and the car was a couple of seconds quicker on the same crappy tyres, which is a huge difference. I'll stick with that and get some sway bars and a mechanical diff sorted too and see how that all goes together
    • I guess it’s partially a compromise of how my car is used, wanting to be able to switch from drift to grip with track side on-car adjustment. Also partially with the way the knuckles are set there is more static camber but less dynamic camber gain.
    • OK, so update from the track day on Friday It was a classic "an unfortunate series of events'. There were a few cars around and when i checked my mirror coming out of the fish hook I notice some smoke from the rear of mine. Looked again and it was getting much worse, I figured I'd blown a turbo or something to got off it and pulled off the racing line. However.... since it is a left hairpin into a right kink, I was on the inside of the next corner. There was a car passing me on the left and a big drop off over the ripple strip on the right......and someone had knocked the witch's hat that was on the apex about 1m onto the track. So, between those 3, I decided to mow down the cone and not damage my car/the other car. Right choice, but surprising result.  The car decided the cone was a small pedestrian so it blew the rear bonnet hinges up to protect their head in the upcoming person to car impact....I didn't see that coming and like an airbag deployment it happened super fast. Straight into the pits from there, everything was driving fine but it became clear it was a coolant leak not smoke, it was billowing up onto the windscreen. Onto the trailer and home. I'll do a separate thread about the repair (once I work out what it is ), but the immediate problem was the bonnet wouldn't open because the front was pinched onto the front bar and would not release. Ultimately we unbolted the hinge from the bonnet, pulled it back a little and it released from the front OK. "There's your problem", the top radiator hose had popped off at the radiator.
    • Yeah that looks like great caster, but I'd suggest trying less front camber some time and seeing if it helps with braking without reducing mid corner speed too much
    • I ended up setting the rear 5mm higher than normal to give some clearance.  My plan is to run the least camber I can in the rear which I think with the extra width is going to need to be -1.75 to -2.00° just to get clearance.  Guards have been rolled and pulled as much as they can/I would be wanting to.  front has the Acostal knuckle with the KPI change and the drop etc. So should be okay with the existing settings I have run with AR1s etc Front: Toe total -2mm(1mm out each side) Caster +7.5° Camber -3.8° Ackerman +15°
